They don’t make movies like this anymore… the care that would go into these films, the dedication, the well crafted costumes and sets… Hollywood films used to take their times building stories & putting piece by piece together. These days the studios have simply gotten lazy and rely on CGI and cheap props. I remember how much training actors had to go thru back in the day to build their crafts. Judy garland had intensive training. Gene Kelly as well. The only downside to this era was how poorly the actors were treated by the studios. However, they went from one extreme to the next

That's the "original" Red Carpet!!! I always wondered (in reality - not the film) how in the heck did they get all that S**t from Egypt! Cargo camels??? I mean, allllllll those people! Allllllll those horses, birds, props!! How'd they get them from Egypt to Rome??? I saw this film in real time sitting in the theatre! Back then movie theaters in DC were very plush: thick carpet - velvet seats - chandeliers & this was shown in one of DCs most elegant movie houses. The nuns (Catholic school) took us. Still today holds fascination. Whoever choreographed this should've gotten an Oscar!
Despite the obvious cost and effort that this sequence must have taken, it rings false and harks back to the Cecil B. DeMille extravagant approach to "historical" films. Incidentally, the extras running around in front of the horsemen at the beginning look like they all shop for clothes at the same store.

I always wondered (in reality - not the film) how in the heck did they get all that S**t from Egypt! Cargo camels??? I mean, allllllll those people! Allllllll those horses, birds, props!! How'd they get them from Egypt to Rome???
I saw this film in real time sitting in the theatre! Back then movie theaters in DC were very plush: thick carpet - velvet seats - chandeliers & this was shown in one of DCs most elegant movie houses. The nuns (Catholic school) took us. Still today holds fascination. Whoever choreographed this should've gotten an Oscar!
