Yea I plan to replace the spark plugs come summer since I don't know how old they are when I got the car. I'll definitely show everyone the spark plug job.

I don’t have a video. It’s pretty simple: align the rubber block on the jack with the rear jack point first. The rear jack point is marked with a circle. After that, straighten the jack and align it on the outside of the black rubber grommets. Do not jack on the rubber grommets.
Great video , good to see the R8 oil change demystified 👍 I noticed that you have a sound deadening cover between the sump and the transmission. was that something you put in or was it there when you purchased the car? I’ve just acquired a 2008 and noticing a lot of noise, clicking, tapping and Gurgling coming from that area, and mine hasn’t got the sound pad installed.. I was shocked to find out Audi charges 1200. For the part..😮
The sound deadening came with my car. It looks like your sound pad got lost over the years from careless techs. You can try to find some heavy duty foam online and glue it to some sort of plastic material. For the noise, I would pull any codes from the car and start from there.
Thanks for the reply. I’m currently looking up some sources of sound deadening material. Apparently that deadening mat was installed as a courtesy from Audi as part of a service bulletin when owners were complaining of the noise. It wasn’t installed from the factory. Unfortunately, Audi no longer provides these for free.
For the transmission plastic cover, yea you need to take it out. For the engine plastic cover, you can get away with removing a part of the cover near the oil drain plugs.

That tech that used the channel lock to remove that blocked bolt to complete the oil change is the real MVP

Wouldn’t it be easier to evacuate the oil from the top?
According to the factory service manual, you drain everything.
Did you need to take out the splash pad which has about 20 screws?!

@@ftwgarage the transmission cover is metal not plastic right? The only reason to remove it is for the one drain plug for the oil reservoir?
both covers are plastic and yes only reason to remove transmission cover is to drain the big oil tank.
What oil do you recommend?
