  • Former President, Field Marshall Idi Amin, is remembered for what seemed at the time, to be spur-of the moment declarations, but which are now considered acts of nationalism. Perhaps, as a harbinger of things to come, one year after came to power, he presided over the changing of the names of many roads, lakes, and national parks. What had formerly been European names now became African names which resonated with the revolutionary struggle.
