    The manual might be less likely to get stolen due to people not knowing. But wouldn’t manual technically be easier to put in neutral and roll it out lol

      Yup much easier to put in neutral

      You do know to put the AT in neutral is simple as pulling out the tiny storage insert next to the shifter then pulling up on the red ribbon below. That’s it.

      Theres a little strap on autos that puts the car in neutral not even a foot away from the shifter

      My too. I have a theory that driving a manual makes you a better driver. Makes people pay better attention. Auto's just free one hand up to do dumb shit like taking selfies. I've still never had the opportunity to drive a car with the newer dual clutch style autos or automated manuals. I do like the idea of sequential/paddle shifting, I'd like to drive a car like that someday.

    I say it as a joke, but I rarely find people that can drive em or willing to learn. It's way more fun, but you do need security because older guys steal cars too

  • @senorm4363
    @senorm4363 16 часов назад +8

    easier to steal, waaay harder to sell. usually only a few hundred VINs are ever prouced for each model year of car so (as long as the owner knows the VIN #) if you want to sell it its going to be inherently more risky.

    Honestly at this point if you own a hellcat, scat pack, trackhawk, or any other SRT and you DON’T have that thing wired so hot you can’t see where it is down to the inch, you get what you deserve. I have a 2016 Hellcat and it’s got GPS tracking, an airtag, and I take the fuel injector relay out everytime it’s not in my garage.

    Also knowing how to drive a stick and knowing how to drive a stick quickly is 2 different things.

    My buddy from work recently started getting into cars. He was talking about manual swapping his civic. I took him on a cruise in my manual swapped is300 and he was blown away.
    He goes “it seems like a lot of extra work compared to autos”
    Had him rethinking the whole swap. People really are afraid to learn an ancient skill. Sure, they can steal a manual. Good luck selling it to someone.

    I think they‘d still be stolen but only by a very small percentage of thieves if they are doing it for longer than your average college kid only capable of driving Automatic. I‘d guess only very few of them have been factory ordered as manuals, hence the percentage is diminishing small compared to the overall theft statistics….

    Remember where you heard it first. Somebody should vent a antitheft device that when your car is parked all your tires are deflated so it can’t be driven and then when you get to your vehicle, they will instantly inflate when it’s ready to drive so pretty much your tires go flat when parts so thieves can’t drive off with it.

    • @NonEuclideanTacoCannon
      @NonEuclideanTacoCannon 4 часа назад

      I like it, but I think keeping the tires deflated most of the time with the whole weight of the vehicle on them would ruin the tires pretty fast. What about those built-in pneumatic jacks that some race cars have, when you park, the car would just lift itself off the tires. Of course then I guess you're just giving easy access to your catalytic converter.

    Years ago some kids tried to steal my neighbor's manual Isuzu Trooper and only succeeded in burning out the clutch and ruining first gear. Especially in this area, car theft is just kids joyriding, or tweakers looking for parts to sell. I wouldn't expect many of them can drive manual. It's funny, when I was a kid, people said the same thing about fixed gear bicycles. And it was true to an extent, if you aren't used to it and it's your first time, they are very hard to ride. Sometimes one would get stolen then abandoned a block away.

    The thing is it takes skill to drive manual well. But anyone can drive manual badly. The thief probably doesn't care if they burn out your clutch while stealing it

  • @Adierit
    @Adierit 7 часов назад

    the answer to your question; no they aren't magically unstealable just because they use the oldest method of shifting your transmission, there is just less of them and so therefore less to be stolen in the first place

  • @davidx4590
    @davidx4590 5 часов назад

    And lastly, All manuals don't necessarily shift the same, same pattern but slight differences that would make it challenging in the event of a chase, a missed gear & that azz is pitted without a doubt!

My nephew needed to borrow my car and said yes he could drive a stick, but it only took 3 minutes for him to give up trying to move it. It was fun to watch. But unstealable, no it is not.

  • @exiteternium
    @exiteternium 12 часов назад

    Nope, not harder for me, i drive manual, and practically prefer it. the transmissions are much more stout that their hydraulic controlled and actuated counter parts usually. yeah it sucks you have to pull the whole trans to do a general maintenance item called a clutch, but Meh. the reason they are harder to steal is because of the fact most people don't know how to drive a manual. and many who can are not adept enough to drive it in a way to make a get away from being pursued.

    • @exiteternium
