Yo Jesse! I studied this video and followed your advice. After 2 months of preparation and applying I was finally able to land a graphic design job at an agency. Thank you!
That’s awesome Antony!
yoo awesome brooo
What's it like?
I never subscribe, even to designers whose content I consume a lot, but I just did to this channel. Thanks so much dude
I’m 27 changing careers from Automotive Technology (A cool name for mechanic) attending college for Graphic design. I’ve designed my own twitch and RUclips a few years back, nothing big but fell in love with designing from then on. Finally getting into school for it but truly nervous as I don’t feel like I’ll get a lot of calls due to my real experience only being car work
Right there with you. I’ve always worked as a property manager and finally made the decision to go back to school for graphic design. I’m 29 and in just a few months I’ll be graduating! Certainly nervous.
@@j0j01192 Congratulations! Btw, what course did you take? And can u please update us with ur career transition? thanks!
hey bro, im second year on visual communications degree(fancy name for graphic design and typography mostly), it is nerve wrecking but the briefs you are given are gonna help you build up a portfolio. Atleast at my school we make hella stuff that are really like jobs you'd get as a graphic designer.
Same here…bout to graduate. A great portfolio..with couple case studies. Get a linkendln if you don’t have one already. Design logos or business cards for friends, family or other folks and add to your resume as “freelance work.” Take advantage of your schools networking events or guest speakers.
This video was so helpful! The best advice I have recieved.
This man on the hipster starter kit.
Man, there has been just a few RUclips designers that I would really admire so much to get inspired, and you're absolutely one of them! Amazing portfolio!
Thank you:)
bless!! always great to see portfolio videos :'))

Fantastic tips! Do you think they would apply to someone let's say who's 40 and NOT fresh out of college? Or would that be a whole new strategy/video?

Hello, I'm hoping Jesse Nyberg can answer this question, but if anyone else can answer this it would be great. I just had a graphic interview today, if I get the job it would be my first real graphic job. This job does not offer any benefits and is Contract work. So my question is (I live in MI) how do you find a reasonable 3rd party health insurance (a.k.a A retail policy or individual health ins.) with dental? Also what do you do about not having a 401k or anything else you would have like that if you worked a "normal" job? Lastly what do you have to do with taxes since the job does not with hold taxes either (I'm guessing I have to pay them but how much do you hold back for them)?
What font(s) did you use for your resume?
I don't know if it still holds true now (nothing against the video ofc), at least in Europe, there's so few junior jobs and it feels like internship is the new junior position, they're cheaper and can do the job nobody wants to do... I only see mid-level or senior roles, kind of depressing.
Super se upar sir
what is the name of the intro/outro song you used in this video?
Hey guys looking for some advice here. I started an art instagram page and its still pretty low key but ive had two people reach out to me for designs.
One was a business logo for a new yoga teacher.
And the other person wanted designs for shirts.
Is it a bad idea to apply for the positions you mentioned?
Im more of a self taught designer but i really want to figure out how to scale this.
Do you think it is possible to land a job without a degree? I had to drop out due to health issues
b ig
o h yeah!
How to get design clients. I want to create products - launch products - create natural health and herbal medicine companies - and do all the graphic design for the website - labelling - and advertising.
I have a video on tips for getting clients!
