Iga has the best footwork in the WTA. Players like prime Halep and Sakkari come close, but I have never seen such explosive, consistent and intricate movement on EVERY shot like Iga has. It's literally more appropriate to compare her footwork to the ATP. The way she slides so naturally into her backhand on HC and into her forehand on clay, constantly reminds me of Djokovic and Nadal respectively.
Also ideal height 175 cm , taller than eg. Sakkari , Gauff. And she is fast, she comes to the net extremely fast from the baseline position. And in after Miami Open win, she said that playing next tournaments on the clay will be “much more fun”….There her kick serve and top spin forehand will be still more an advantage.
With the aces, it’s like Ivan Lendl said, it’s not about the quantity but when you need them. When you are 30-40 down, and it’s a set point, then the ace is the right answer.
A very good analysis, thank you. I have followed Iga for a few years now and I totally admire her commitment, attitude and natural athleticism. She appears to be aiming for new heights this year and I fully expect her to remain at No.1 for some time although it would have been ideal to have Barty around for another season or two to see how that would have played out. What I think is even more important for the game and for up and coming players is the fine example she sets with her openness, honesty and superb sportsmanship.
@@MeikeBabelTennis I agree. She is not 100% yet. In Stuttgart, she played well overall, but she still had many unforced errors, etc. I am excited to see how good she can become.
Orsom analyse. Yousing all the stances makes her even more efficient. She has the whole palet of shots and they work now , without unforced errors . Last year her serv and return sometimes broke down but this year not any more. And this full westerngrip allowes her to punish all high balls . But her incredible atleticism and fighter spirit makes her stay number one for a long time.
Interesting. Did not know she uses a full Western grip. Amazing that she is able to generate topspin AND power with that extreme grip; most players with heavy forehands use SW or Eastern grip . But that is probably where her athleticism comes into play. She relies on huge leg drive to power the shot. Fun to watch!
I hope you will do another analysis about Iga after what she did recently. I think the main reason why she is where she is now is because of her mental work with Daria. She talks about this matter quite often.
I think so, too! And her new coach helped her believe in her more aggressive game. It's going to be scary if she improves her second serve and her volleys! Then she will truly be unbeatable.
Aga, of late, has been dominating the field. To be honest, I did not see this coming. I thought, she had a powerful forehand but was often late hitting it. Though, she has improved her backhand and is starting to hit it with more confidence, I still thought it was a defensive shot, and often she was unbalanced hitting the shot. I thought her net game was average, as were her passing shots. Yet, she is dominating the field… go figure.

She's the whole package, her forehand resembles that of male players (not just me talking, even other players say it), it's incredible that she doesn't get the recognition and promotion that she deserves, again, this is not just me talking, looks like for some being the number 1 and playing like nobody did before (WTA), is not enough. See ya.

How far under the ball do you need to be to generate a good amount of topspin? She only seems to be about a racquet head (or less) below the ball before she makes contact?
Excellent analysis. Only point i see differently. You can transfer effectively from a semi with weight going forward . Like Federer . I am sure she does that sometimes . The Semi you show is leanig back - doesn't do that much . I see Semi differently . Also most used stance 70% of the time i think ? But rest is excellent Thank you 😊 ❤
Rackets and strings allow for much faster swings and the grips help generate topspin that you need to keep the balls in play. Maybe not so much the elbow but the wrist for sure.
I like your channel, you give lots of exceptional perspectives which really help! What do you think about my unique forehand if you want to take a minute, thx~
That western forehand puts her a level above all WTA. Is Hard to perform i tried and you may need a lighter racket and Long period of adjustment of hitting balls out and in the net
She has a western grip. You said the western grip forehand had lots of drawbacks. But I dunn agree with u. She is still number one player in world ranking. I think you have old school grip and outdated teaching methods.

look up what Radwanska was doing on the court
If she adds her service with aces, nobody can beat her! Good analysis!
Yes, and comes in a bit more. She still has so much room to grow and that is scary.
No aces needed. The only thing is the stable, firm SECOND serve…

I absolutely agree!
She is a very strong athletic girl indeed , very beautiful tennis 🎾, thank you MEIKE ❤️
Sure thing!
The Western grip has been a huge evolution for her. Loved your breakdown.

Great to hear!
great work, thank you so much from an Iga superfan!
Glad you liked it! She's easy and fun to talk about :-)
Iga is a phenomenon
Agree!
I adore that whipping lasso forehand. Is there any other WTA player doing this?
Plenty when they get a little in trouble. Barty did it all the time. badosa does, Sakkari.
@@MeikeBabelTennis ok, thank you. Need to watch more carefully then. I need to admit I only noticed Iga doing it.
@@roksancheb7688 it is not something worth copying. Works for some, but the regular player cannot generate much power with it.

My pleasure! It's easy to talk about Iga :-)
Thanks, as always a great video!
Glad you enjoyed it!
I never noticed how short her takeback is. Elbow staying very close to the body. I guess many coaches would have thought about changing that.

You don't have to get that far under the ball but you have to load your legs and hips correctly as Iga does.

I do not understand this modern forehand grip. When did it appear ? Doesn't it affect your elbow (when you re aged) ?
Rackets and strings allow for much faster swings and the grips help generate topspin that you need to keep the balls in play. Maybe not so much the elbow but the wrist for sure.
