Thank you i was planning to propagate one of these plants at school but instead it has a dark leaf with a variation on the middle that is lime green i am using the two node method for two reasons what is that the plant will have more roots and two more anchor points and the second is that what i cut off the second leaf i will preserve it by pressing the leaf

Hello. Welcome to my channel. Coir is the outside husk portion of a coconut which is removed and processed to use as a soil component. Good luck on your new plant journey.

How do you prune to make it bushy? I see them at the garden centers and there is very little spacing between nodes, unlike the trailers which can be 2-4 inches between nodes. I can see if you planted 8-10 very close together in a small pot that it would be bushy. But the ones at the store sometimes have only 3-5 and are very bushy. This has been a mystery to me for many years.

Awesome vid, I appreciate it! I’m new to propagating and I have two different pothos cuttings rooting in water, both with a couple inches of roots grown. I initially cut them with 4-5 nodes though so at this point do I have to plant them as is? Or is cutting/dividing them into singles still an option? Any help appreciated!

They will more than likely grow new roots if you cut them into single nodes, but maybe try just taking the top node so you don’t lose the entire cutting.

Ideally rooting hormone should be applied on the node which forms the root primordia. Although putting a small amount on the cut site might work too? I guess.

Some people say that we should not change the water, because the nods release natural rooting hormone in the water. Changing the water loses the hormones.

I have heard that as well, but have not conducted the trial. I have had success changing the water. I think i I had to keep the algae to improve the take or growth I would just go straight to soil. For me, I propagate in water because I like seeing the clean roots.
