The protagonist is playing FireRed, which is Gen-3 - during the era when crits dealt double damage (gen 2 - gen 5). They mentioned that the first Rock Smash dealt a quarter and the second one was a crit. So, using the crit multiplier knowledge, the first one would've dealt 1/4 and the second would've dealt 2/4. This results in 3/4 damage in total, which should've left about 1/4 HP for the shiny Persian. INB4: anyone who wants to tell me to calm down, not look too much into it, just enjoy the story for what it is, no need to over-analyse, etc. just...don't.
@@TheRiddler6129 Then the Persian would’ve also been at a high enough level where it was capable of taking 1/4 damage from the Golduck’s regular attacks. Either way, whether the Golduck was or wasn’t, your question was pointless.
I also found a shiny in pokemon sapphire it was a shiny whismur and crap i don't have any pokeballs and i was like welp combusken faint him while being disappointment for not getting pokeballs
