How To: Install 335i VRSF Inlets EASY (No Cutting Needed!)

- Today, we're going to be installing a set of VRSF silicon inlets on my 335i wagon! This has been one of the most recommended upgrades we do, and for good reason! These inlets will reduce the intake air tempuratures, as well as incraese the volume of air supplied to the turbos, which will result in power gains, especially with tuning! Install is simple with the method I show you today, hopefully this helps you install yours at home!

Thanks a lot, also never saw how to lift down the engine. Most people always talking and they don't show how it works. I love you US guys.
This is one the the best content when It comes to the N54 engine and its given me ideas on how I will tackle a few things in the future. I be replacing my clutch some since I can feel it starting to slip when under boost and dropping the engine that low will allow easy access to the transmission bolts.

I really love your channel! You do incredible work and teach me any things! Thank you! I have a 335XI. I doubt I can do anything except remove the whole front end drive train. Which I despise. I got inlets with my upgraded turbos that did not have wire running through them and they are terrible! They make a horrible racket sounding like a dying Turkey every time I step on the throttle and they are not good for the turbos which are new 17T's. They weren't even cheap one either. I paid $280 for them thinking they would be matched to the turbos as they were the same supplier and the turbos have been proven fairly reliable and make good power. I'm waiting to see if the ebay seller will stand behind any type of refund. But no matter what I have to buy new inlets and install them AGAIN! GRRRR. So I'm sure I am doomed to have to do it. But watching you I might be able to do the same thing you did here. Do you know anything about doing the inlets on "XI" models?? I know my DP's aren't able to be removed like these ones are. Thank you again!
I just broke the rear tabs for the rear inlet and cut it with a sawzaw where it mates to the turbo. So easy.

@@silverarrowgaming1077 reciprocating saw, my car is X-drive and I still had plenty of space.
Sweet upgrade! I made my own hot side Inlets. Even with an ots map it makes a noticable difference in throttle response

You made that look easy, wish you were here when I did mine. That rear inlet was a pain. Good job.
You can actually cut up the front stock inlet apart and use it as a guard/mounting point to keep it out of the pulleys.

Let’s be real, i just did mine and is no way in hell easy. You took half of the car apart then it became easy after 5+ hours of labor.

Hi question on the front inlet tube on the left side that goes into the turbo is there a gasket that goes inside of it? Because mine is very loose. Thank you.
at 11:35 you blocked the inlets off with that cap right, but i have the charge pipe with two hoses coming from it(stock setup) which connect to each of the inlets. i cant block it off cause those two hoses have to go somewhere and cant just leave it. rather than having to change the charge pipe to the blow off valve. how can i make those two hoses from the charge pipe fit onto the inlets? hopefully this makes sense thanks
I’ve lost one of the diverter valve plugs. Any idea where I can purchase the same one? Vrsf wants me to buy all new inlets just for the metal part that goes inside the plug
Nice and smooth work :) I installed inlets half a year ago without dropping the subframe or the disassembly of the intake manifold and I did not disconnect the coolant hoses for the front inlet. I have metal outlets at home and I know it's not that difficult to install outlets when doing inlets but that time I was just exhausted and skipped it as the benefits are not big enough for stock turbos. In total inlets are absolutely worth it and everything just becomes better but next time I would just pay somebody.
Any issues with the front inlet getting near the belts? Doing this on a 135i and it's scary tight
@@kneecaps2000 A little bit. I have steel wires in mine and with them I was able to bend it slightly to prevent belt / pulley contact. Furthermore I used the original mounting points (the two screws in the cylinder head) to bend a holder made of flat aluminium. The front inlet is a little bit higher now. That's not really necessary but I feel better with it.

@@kneecaps2000 Kind of. Not easy to describe but it's holding the inlet in place and as said it's just a slightly thicker bended flat aluminium which costs 3...4$. It took max. 20min to create it and it looks nearly stock.

If I lowered the whole subframe (engine on) would I be able to do the turbos? Trying to avoid dropping the whole subframe (I have an e61 535xi and I'm dreading it). Would rather have to remove an axle than the whole assembly. Any tips are appreciated. Thanks in advance!
Why spen dan hour lowering the engine when it takes 3 minutes to cut that junk off and toss it in the garbage

Thank you sir for this. At 10:09 the 2 large bolt holes to the left, are they transmission housing bolts or not present on your vehicle? on mine I have a large hangar that was for the stock downpipes, can these bolts be removed permanently ?
No mine were missing because the bolts were cross threaded and need to be replaced. If I recall correctly, you can just remove the bracket and re-install the bolts without a problem. Good eye!

1.75, fits perfect on factory turbos

Yes! Some will say that it's a little harder/easier, but I recommend using this same method and you'll get them out safely! Thanks for watching :)

Car has some upgraded silicon outlet already, since the turbos were replaced at some point apparently

Wouldn't it just be easier removing your valve cover to install it ? And does he matter if the stock one is cut up ? No one will use it again
he did remove the valve cover in the video.
Can you remove the intake I don't think you remove the valve cover maybe the plastic cover over the valve cover
@420Kicks ok thanks for the info that's what I was thinking move the intake and clean the valves also how did you go about cleaning your valves I don't have a walnut blaster I was thinking about using like seafoam and a toothbrush or something like that and the vacuum a wet dry vac

"install inlets EASY". Makes me think this is like an E46 and simply removing a hose. Meanwhile drops the entire front subframe to reach for a single plastic pipe. Makes me wanna hold off on buying an E90
