I think if this series had actually continued on from the Animated Series I wouldn't have minded it so much, as a Counter-Earth would have been the perfect setting to find MJ in. The aesthetic change of the series would have been a perfect evolution to everything that came before it. But when the first episode shows that she's alive and well in New York, living in Peter's apartment, well, you can imagine I was a little annoyed. Maybe someday I'll give this show another shot, tho.
@@hthrun I kinda thought that too, but yet was nevertheless annoyed that we didn’t get to see their reunion, nor know what she went through with wherever it was she was at.
I remember watching Spiderman Unlimited as a kid and, even though i knew this wasn't the "classic" Spidey, i really appreciated the new take and cyberpunk feel to it, even at that age! I liked the darker feel to it and the whole "fish out of water" setting. Very inventive
to be honest i loved unlimited. spiderman TAS was just a masterpiece in itself and is a shame we will never get it resolved even though the author had a fundraiser to fund his new project and promised if it got raised he would let us see/ read the ending. we never got anything more than that from him. these shows need to be revived and have there ending put in place. thank you for covering this show.
But the guy dealing with TAS gave us an insight into the notes of what last season was supposed to look like. It has been circulating on the internet for a very long time.
Thanks for making this video. I drew the Marvel Comics series that adapted this show. The book only lasted for five issues. It was very weird, but I had a great time making it. Wish it would have gone longer, but such is comics. :)
I have to ask because i was a fan of the show when it ran on jetix. How does it end? Do peter and Jameson go back to their world? Does peter fall for someone in the other world human or hybrid? Is there anything that you didn’t get to explore in the comic that you really wanted to flesh out on?
I remember watching Unlimited late at night on Jetix/Disney XD. Always thought it was weird the final episode left off on such a horrible end for the counter earth
I could never get into Spider-Man Unlimited. The original Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man in the suburbs of New York fighting crime & juggling a social life are timeless.
I love the Unlimited Series. The art style, the suit, the villains, and especially the cliffhanging ending are cool! I do think the show suffers from pacing and character development issues, but I overall enjoyed the series.
I loved this show , there was particularly one very intriguing character, I forgot the name but he was one of the lord's, he is a half tiger and human, he helps spiderman and wants him and his rebel forces to succeed whilst staying true to his lordship, such a grey character.
Honestly, this show is the one that made me fall in love with Spiderman. I was born just as the original series was dying down, so I never got to see that hype and amazement everyone had. But every night, when I went to bed, I would put on a tv channel and watch whatever was on. I found some weird things on that channel (honestly I don't even remember if it was a single channel or what... what I was like six and I can barely remember what I ate yesterday, don't expect me to remember that), most notably, Biker Mice from Mars....... which I'm still slightly convinced was just some fever dream, Street Sharks, etc. along with some good old classics like Pinky and the Brain. And yes, Spider-Man Unlimited. I remember staying up late just to watch the episode of it I could find here and there, and I loved it. Not going to lie though, it was.... clumsy. I mean, most notably the alternate earth vs. new planet thing. This was just a show I loved. And it got me to look for Spider-Man in other media, which led me to the really weird CGI show from the early 2000's, and then led me to some episodes of the original cartoon series, and then, eventually, to the best version on TV (to me at least): Spectacular Spider-Man. Spider-Man is a character I related to a lot growing up, and thinking back to it, this show was what started it all. So, thanks for reminding me of it. It was locked away deep in my brain, never quite forgotten, but never in focus.
As someone who didn't follow comics, this is weirdly part of my childhood. I remember after watch raimis spider-man(1) that I become obsessive with spider-man. And I stumble with this Spider-man cassette. This story is so strange and weird, yet I just binge it. Now it's feel nostalgic and lowkey want them to relief this ver.
Hate it now for introducing the ton of goo symbiote design used in the latest movies, venom was a thin suit of black and carnage a bloody splatter and they didn't dissolve their hosts, turn into clayface and split apart to avoid bullets.

This one and the sort of 3D animated series that aired on MTV soon after the first Raini movie are often forgotten but I really liked them. The MTV one has probably my favorite MJ design, but also ended just after 13 episodes.
As I was really obsessed with the suit of the show when I was little, I honestly realized how a perfect combination the suit gives the vibes of iron spider and Spider-Man 2099 being emerged into one heck of a awesome spidey suit.
I remembered this series. I had forgotten about it for some time but I always remembered that there existed one Spider-Man series where the guy had a cool nanotech suit and went to fight aliens. A quick Google search did give me the name which I had forgotten. And even though I felt that the story was a little too whacky for me (since there was no MJ, or other iconic characters aside from Venom and Carnage), I did absolutely love that nanotech suit that came out of his watch thingy...
I remember going out of my way as a kid to watch this show because it aired, here in Brazil, in weird hours. Still as a kid I had plenty of time so there, I still freaking love the costume
We never really forgot it, it has been in the back of our subconscious popping up like a jump scare here and there always reminding us that the 90's animated version was never really gonna get a conclusion for Peter Parker and Mary Jane , and that's why this series will haunt us forever...…..
This is still my All-Time FAVORITE Spider Suit. I have fond memories of watching this show, playing as this suit in the PS1 Spiderman games, and hunting down the ONLY action figure that was ever of that suit. The opening theme was amazing, and I was really disappointed when later Spiderman games like the PS4 titles seemed to have forgotten this suit. Wish this show could come back for 1 final season to get the closure both it and the 90’s Animated Spiderman Series deserved. Would have loved if the suit got continued at least in Comic Book form as the design and abilities seemed too cool to be forgotten. Even tho it’s similar to the 2099 suit, I’ve always preferred this suit and Parker.
I love Hector, he's one of my favourite incarnations of Green Goblin. It seemed as we'd get to know more about him as the series progressed, but unfortunately we never did. The concept of goblin ally is very interesting imo and I'd love to see it again in the future.
I remember feeling so betrayed by this show, after the pilot there is no connection to the original show. The costume design is nice but you touch on all the right points. Although the colouring always made me think of it as the kids version of the original show.
I always love shows where there's a dystopian future where a band of heroes fight to survive and stand as a symbol of hope. This show also reminds me of X-Men '92 in a way with all the mutant-human rights conflict Overall I remember really enjoying this show, just not the cliffhanger.
Love love LOVE the techno vibes the theme song gives off! Loved Peter's character design as well as his suit. And ya gotta love the alternate planet spiderman villains! Especially gobby wearing underpants 😂
I remember watching a rerun of it a decade and a half earlier! The nano-bot suit was so eccentric with the cape! It is a genuinely unique iteration in the franchise.
Watched it for its 20th anniversary after I was done with the 25th anniversary celebration of Spider-Man 94 and loved it. It's shaky at bits, but I think it had potential to stand side by side with Spectacular Spider-Man and the 94 show. Also; love the inclusion of this suit and its invisibility function in the PS1 games.
when i was younger i had a dvd with like, 3 episodes of this show and i'd rewatch them everytime, i love this show and its aesthetic (specially spiderman's suit, it looks awesome)
I haven't forgotten that show. I was also pissed when that was what we got after the cliffhanger. It felt like a side story kind of thing that was meant to fill in for the main story that we never got. The only thing(s) I liked about it was the nano suit, I couldn't stomach watching it for several reasons, and I think most of those reasons just tie back to it not being the show that came before it, and us never getting a proper conclusion to Mary Jane. For that one, I like to think they found her and that's that. As for this one, if they gave it a conclusion in some form, even brought back the plans to conclude it, I might give it a second look. But I'm otherwise not that interested in it.
Man, it could have been awesome to see a second and final season of this show. I honestly liked this show and the suit design was so cool, that I actually tried to draw it traditionally as best as I could with my abilities. I'm kind of suprised to know that Spider-Man Unlimited had good raitings. Darn you Pokemon for ruining Spider-Man Unlimited chances of being more recognized by the media.
This series was amazing. If you were a fan, you would notice that it was an alternate universe. The characters were great and the cliffhanger was a great ending for a second season. Too bad we never got the ending, but the character was used as an alternate suit on other Spiderman games. I can't remember which one had it.
I always felt weird going up and nobody watching this show. I enjoyed it but the art style was hard for me to adjust to after previous the Spider-Man cartoon. Thank you for taking the time to have this script and edit for us to enjoy and to give new light to a classic cartoon that just was "ahead of it's time".
I remember watching this as a kid, and I'm pretty sure I had it in DVD somewhere. I remember enjoying it alot. I also remember a violent CGI Spider-Man that spooked me as a kid. Anyone remember that one?
I remember seeing a couple episodes of this and not much liking it. I remember the Green Goblin A: was a good guy kind of, and B: dropped his pants in the middle of a battle for some reason. Also, I never really thought of the end of the 90's Spider-Man show as a cliffhanger. I figured "okay, Madam Webb will take him to find Mary Jane and they'll live happily ever after," I didn't really consider that she'd have any trouble with it.
I remember when it started airing, I loved this. The concept was great, for that time, human-animal hybrids, cool cyberpunk type setting. struggle between humans and hybrids (while seeing how different hybrids would look like). Plus it seemed to me that this would be a more mature show, something which was a rarity in the cartoon animated world. It dealt with issues, which ofcourse included Spiderman desires to go back to Mary Jane and his life and help the humans being oppressed here. And then not only It ended mid-way, no indication on where it will go but no one talks about how good a series it could have been or was. The show would have really got a hand on in the next season, i am sure as the fight progressed.
I remember being really frustrated by this series as a kid. As you mentioned, it replaced the superior animated series without acknowledging it, and I seem to remember there being a lot of issues in the airing schedule, and then it just ended without any explanation. I seem to remember the whole slate of Saturday morning cartoons being overhauled around this time with a lot Japanese style shows I thought were dumb like Medabots, which is probably the Pokémon influence you mentioned.
I liked this show, and I was one of the few ones that remembered it among my friends or siblings. It was a pleasant surprise finding it in Disney+. But I would have loved seeing more of it.
The suit was too strange for my kid self, especially the wing. I always wondered why it must have a filmsy wing. It's one of the weirdest adaptation, indeed, but it still leaves a memory, especially the opening music, animal-shaped people, and.... nothing much about the plot
Crazy that Counter Earth is finally making its MCU debut in this year's Guardians of the Galaxy V3 and Spiderman Unlimited has a few cameos in Across the Spiderverse
Loved the suit in it. I feel like it inspired the suit in the MCU. I wanted to make a series with suits made of nanomachines like it. I really wish they bring that original 94 series back although the series could have ended on that note. There's hope since they're bridging the X-Men Cartoon back they can tie up lose ends in the 94 series. Heck they can tie up loose ends of both series.
I remember this show. This was basically my childhood. Both previous one and the space spiderman(this is literally what I used to call it and will continue to call it). As your title says, this is one of the very rare videos that mentions this show and I watch a lot of spiderman content.
The 2001: A Space Odyssey thing threw me for a LOOP. I had no idea that existed, much less that a canonical Marvel character was spawned from it. +1 to my stash of trivia to make me seem nerdier at parties!
I remember catching the first episodes of this series, and being really interested, then that interest evaporating when I realized what the setting was going to be.
That’s funny that this video comes up on my feed having just finished rewatching it on Disney+. I watched all these shows as a kid in the early 90s. Huge nostalgia trip for me.
This series was actually my introduction to Spiderman as a kid. I initially believed this to be his "real" suit and was very upset when my dad bought me a Spiderman comic featuring his REAL suit, believing it was the wrong Spiderman. Fun times.
The fact that this is a parallel Earth that has always existed in the same universe is actually very interesting philosophically. Not sure if they intended it, but it seems that this would make an argument that intelligent life would always exist and play out the exact same way, which might be a viable theory. I like it
I genuinely forgot about this show but now recall how incredible it was. I was 7-8 when it aired in South Africa (like 10 years after USA debut). I feel like I’d be able to appreciate more now as an adult. Sure I missed a lot.
I caught a few random episodes on TV back when it was having reruns in the early 00s, I had no idea it was that short. The memory I have of it was a bit more grimdark than the very kid friendly footage being shown here.
I can’t believe there’s only 13 episodes. I loved this show. I like any sort of steam punk or futuristic tech in modern setting stories (also love Spider-Man 2099). And the art style is amazing imo
I always thought that this show was going to solve the cliff hanger for the 1994 Spider Man. I was like 5 when I watched it and thought it was really cool and I have always remembered it cause I had no idea what happened to it. Well now I do. Wish they would show more love to this, the suit is amazing, I liked the premise, but more important whoever has the power make an ending to 1994 Spiderman and have him find MJ.
I always saw Peter’s non-commital on not getting involved because ultimately what’s needed isn’t something he can provide. On Counter earth, even with his powers, his just another guy. Sure he can help out where he can, but ultimately he’s not someone who’s going to tip the scales.
I remember watching this when I was a kid! I think what drew me to it most was seeing Spider Man with a cool cape made of webs, which made the cape joke in Spiderverse go extra hard.
I remember Spider-Man Unlimited, I loved it and wanted more if it, I wish they would've at least finished it instead of leaving us with a cliffhanger. I agree the suit was one of the best suits ever and I wish it was used more like in the Marvel Spider-Man game, Avengers, etc.
This show was definitely a symptom of the 90's brief dip into gritty stories for the sake of being edgy. At least they didn't give Spidey a gun or cybernetics.
I loved how they literally destroyed this timeline in Spider-Verse arc in the comics. It was like, "Shhhhhh, 90's children, we won't be returning here."
I actually loved Spider-Man Unlimited. I loved the suit, loved his adventures on the new world, and even re-painted a spider-man toy (horribly) to look like it. I had simply assumed it was on a season finale after that last episode, and didn't think until years later 'wait, they never gave us a second season!' It's a real shame Spider-Man Unlimited rarely gets any attention.

I just thought of it as a follow-up after Madame Web and Peter already found the real MJ.
@@hthrun
I kinda thought that too, but yet was nevertheless annoyed that we didn’t get to see their reunion, nor know what she went through with wherever it was she was at.
I remember watching Spiderman Unlimited as a kid and, even though i knew this wasn't the "classic" Spidey, i really appreciated the new take and cyberpunk feel to it, even at that age! I liked the darker feel to it and the whole "fish out of water" setting. Very inventive
I absolutely loved this show. Used to watch it at night when I was a kid
Me too 🤗
to be honest i loved unlimited. spiderman TAS was just a masterpiece in itself and is a shame we will never get it resolved even though the author had a fundraiser to fund his new project and promised if it got raised he would let us see/ read the ending. we never got anything more than that from him. these shows need to be revived and have there ending put in place. thank you for covering this show.
with the x men cartoon coming back there can be hope
@@cranid98 wait what
But the guy dealing with TAS gave us an insight into the notes of what last season was supposed to look like. It has been circulating on the internet for a very long time.
@@imperial2747 would love for you to share those please
Thanks for making this video. I drew the Marvel Comics series that adapted this show. The book only lasted for five issues. It was very weird, but I had a great time making it. Wish it would have gone longer, but such is comics. :)
Get you thong ripped to the side buddy

I have to ask because i was a fan of the show when it ran on jetix.
How does it end?
Do peter and Jameson go back to their world?
Does peter fall for someone in the other world human or hybrid?
Is there anything that you didn’t get to explore in the comic that you really wanted to flesh out on?
damn, great job!
@Squid Gaurd Asking the real questions. I second what homie is saying right here. Pls answer
Loved this show as a kid, especially the art style and costume. It would be awesome for Disney to continue this series and resolve the climax.
I loved the art style of this show. It actually looked like a comic book.

I could never get into Spider-Man Unlimited. The original Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man in the suburbs of New York fighting crime & juggling a social life are timeless.
This show was one of my favorites. Never forgotten
Fun fact: The Unlimited Suit is actually included as a bonus costume in the 2000 Spider-Man game & its sequel.
Without the cape though
Fittingly, isn't that where Rino Romano voiced Spider-Man again?
I wish we could get a show with Spectacular Spider-Man's level of writing and storytelling with this shows art style and animation.
Dude that sounds like a fucking masterpiece
Been binge watching it just last week.
Yes! Make it happens please!

Sounds like Tagar.
here after the across the spider-verse trailer ; HE'S BACK BOIIS
Same
Wow! This is going to sound weird .. but I almost feel like I know you. You just described my childhood to a tee!
You were probably watching USA network
@@berzerkbankie1342 I’m based in Toronto, Canada. Not sure though.
lol biker mice is not a fever dream, dont worry its real
I loved this awkward middle child that barely existed in the public consciousness between 94 Spider-Man and the Raimi films. Highly underrated.
@ TNAS is right behind TAS for me.
I loved this show back when it aired. It was so different from any other superhero show I'd ever seen.
I remember going out of my way as a kid to watch this show because it aired, here in Brazil, in weird hours. Still as a kid I had plenty of time so there, I still freaking love the costume
This show was the first version of Spider-Man I was exposed to. It really instilled a love of sci-fi
We never really forgot it, it has been in the back of our subconscious popping up like a jump scare here and there always reminding us that the 90's animated version was never really gonna get a conclusion for Peter Parker and Mary Jane , and that's why this series will haunt us forever...…..
Maybe will get another season. We got a final season of clone wars and are getting the 97 xmen continued
LMFAO
Loved this show as a kid. It felt way more sci-fi and unique
He's back in "Across the Spider Verse"
I enjoyed it as a kid-loved the art style and designs-but it didn’t stick with me like the original series did. I’ll have to revisit it!
I love Hector, he's one of my favourite incarnations of Green Goblin. It seemed as we'd get to know more about him as the series progressed, but unfortunately we never did. The concept of goblin ally is very interesting imo and I'd love to see it again in the future.
I actually enjoyed this show as a kid!
Can’t wait to see him again in Across the Spider-Verse!
I remember feeling so betrayed by this show, after the pilot there is no connection to the original show. The costume design is nice but you touch on all the right points. Although the colouring always made me think of it as the kids version of the original show.
I loved this show and never forgot it. Loved the art style and the story. Really wish we got more. Thanks for making this!
Facts me too
I loved this show and was upset when it was cancelled even more so because they gave a small trailer for the next season and it looked really good.
I always love shows where there's a dystopian future where a band of heroes fight to survive and stand as a symbol of hope.
This show also reminds me of X-Men '92 in a way with all the mutant-human rights conflict
Overall I remember really enjoying this show, just not the cliffhanger.
Damn, I thought it was longer than 13 episodes
I do remember this show and wish it would have got a few more seasons.
Weird this show has been so vivid in my memory for some reason, I’ve been rewatching it recently
when i was younger i had a dvd with like, 3 episodes of this show and i'd rewatch them everytime, i love this show and its aesthetic (specially spiderman's suit, it looks awesome)
Yeah Pokemon really killed A LOT of shows during that time...
This series was amazing. If you were a fan, you would notice that it was an alternate universe. The characters were great and the cliffhanger was a great ending for a second season. Too bad we never got the ending, but the character was used as an alternate suit on other Spiderman games. I can't remember which one had it.
It was the first one on PS1. I think you unlocked it by simply beating the game or something.
This sounds dope man! Thank you for making this episode! Turning me on to old, forgotten things that need new eyes. ❤️
I think you are referring to Spiderman version that went on MTV for a while, it was CGI.
Yes
@@valesmonda22 yeah wasnt if Neil Patrick harris as spiderman?
@@dukethehero4907 yeah that’s correct, he was actually a good Spiderman
It was made for me. I loved that show.
Crazy that Counter Earth is finally making its MCU debut in this year's Guardians of the Galaxy V3 and Spiderman Unlimited has a few cameos in Across the Spiderverse
I couldn't get this suit out of my mind, trying to draw it all the time to figure it out how it worked when I was a kid
the suit reminds me of 2099 really heavily, imagine they explore this universe in across the spider verse (i doubt itll happen but oh well)
The suit (and generally the aesthetic) was definitely the strong point of this series.
Wish people would have given the show a chance, it had a lot of potential.
Honestly after years of the same scenario over and over again I felt that this series was a breath of fresh air, highly underrated imo.
I have to say, I loved Spider-Man's costume in this series. The series itself, I wasn't crazy about.
The 2001: A Space Odyssey thing threw me for a LOOP. I had no idea that existed, much less that a canonical Marvel character was spawned from it. +1 to my stash of trivia to make me seem nerdier at parties!
I enjoyed 2010 a little more than 2001, the characters felt like they have more personality.
Fun times.
This, Spider-Man and His Amazing Friends and Spider-Man: The New Animated Series was what made me fall in love with Spider man
The fact that this is a parallel Earth that has always existed in the same universe is actually very interesting philosophically.
Yeah and that made this show little more realistic imo this show deserves a lot of respect
I remember watching this when I was a kid! I think what drew me to it most was seeing Spider Man with a cool cape made of webs, which made the cape joke in Spiderverse go extra hard.
I'm so happy the unlimited suit is back in the new miles morales across the spider verse animation
I loved this show and I still want that second season :)
I don't know why but i loved this show as a kid and couldn't get enough of it.
I had simply assumed it was on a season finale after that last episode, and didn't think until years later 'wait, they never gave us a second season!'
It's a real shame Spider-Man Unlimited rarely gets any attention.
Hey I did the same thing! 😆 😂😭
