My fav “meme-able sequence” I’ve seen from this show (and tbf I don’t know the context but) is when spider-man shoots some web onto a window, then punches a hole in the glass, then just opens it. It’s not like he reached in and unlocked the window, he just opened it bc apparently it wasn’t locked to begin with. Both him shooting the web and him punching the glass was completely unnecessary lol
That one joke has literally convinced me to watch the show. Small jokes that often don’t make it to reviews ARE my joy. The idea of Webbing, breaking and then just straight up opening a completely unlocked window is such a good visual gag. I hope there’s plenty of that kind of gag! Sounds like a good goofy experience.

I first discovered the old Spider-Man 60s cartoon here on RUclips, because my grandma grew up with this when she first had my mom when she was just born at a few months old.
Still my absolute favorite animated Spider Man show outside of the great 90's Fox cartoon. In addition to the greatest theme song of any superhero cartoon, It's my childhood in vivid color and the show that cemented my lifetime love of the comics and the character.
I have the entire series on DVD...and I couldn't only get through a few episodes of the second season. As soon as I saw "Mysterio", my interest waned rapidly. Having said that, I adore the first season. One of my favorite bits was in "Sands of Crime". After that huge tussle using construction equipment, Sandman falls into a water trough and immediately yells, "WATER?! I'm soggy! I can't do anything!"
Captain Stacey taken hostage at a prison was adapted from comic book issue #65. The Kingpin/Mary Jane episode adapted from issue #59-61. And "The Madness of Mysterio" from issue #66-67.
it's funny how many stories that originated from here later got some sort of adaptation, or were adaptation from other unrelated villains, like puppet master and his living manikins/ mind controlling clay, the annihilation wave being the culmination of the bug-faced guy from the fiftt dimension infinata and dr.manta nto one single concept, the beetle and the second (and third) ant-man, the mr nobody name being recycled, the first of the spider-people and a few things here and there
I'd love to see you follow this up with the 80's Spider-Man cartoon retrospective. It was one season with 26 episodes but very much a spiritual successor to those first 38 episodes of 60's Spider-Man imo. There were some ridiculous, cheesy, and fun stories in that series as well. If the 80's series had the widespread viewership the 60's series had, it would probably have some notable memes as well, imo.
I get the feeling this is where Studio Trigger's, Inferno Cop, was inspired to reuse and edit previous art assets from the show as the show continued. It was absolutely absurd and hilarious and was a clever way to make due with its very small budget.
I recently read about 20 issues of the original spider man comics from the early years. It was a mystery who Green Goblin was for a long time. I could be wrong but when this cartoon was made I don't think his identity had been revealed yet.
I wish they'd make a whole new retro animated feature in the same animation style, the same music same voices in a crazy, groovy, far out psychedelic adventure.

He was reading a newspaper at the club? I’m crying!
I feel like the wax person and Noah Buddy are quite funny and im only slightly annoyed they didnt go the main comics lol. The old spiderman series kinda looks like a point and click adventure
You know that same moment of Scorpian going after J.J. Jameson for having Gargan getting stuck in his suite and then Spider-Man saving J.J. by defeating Scorpian was used for the 1999 Spider-Man video game.
I first discovered the old Spider-Man 60s cartoon here on RUclips, because my grandma grew up with this when she first had my mom when she was just born at a few months old.
Definitely the 3rd or 2nd best Spider-Man series ever. The other 2 contenders for top 3 are of course the 94 animated series and spectacular 😎
Was the first version of Spider-Man I ever watched and had such a brilliant cast. R.I.P to all the dead voice actors 😔
Still my absolute favorite animated Spider Man show outside of the great 90's Fox cartoon. In addition to the greatest theme song of any superhero cartoon, It's my childhood in vivid color and the show that cemented my lifetime love of the comics and the character.
''THAT'S IT, nobody!'' Like he had all his questions answerd, so stupid it's, funny.
The voice acting is amazing “I can see you but you can’t see meeee”
5:12 is best part of the whole series ngl
There IS a Spiderman getting knocked out video out there!
i watched a bunch of this show when i was younger, the episode i most remember is the lizard one
I get the feeling this is where Studio Trigger's, Inferno Cop, was inspired to reuse and edit previous art assets from the show as the show continued. It was absolutely absurd and hilarious and was a clever way to make due with its very small budget.
the thing that really stood out about this show was the incredible music the composers were incredible in this show
5:12 I went back and put it in 0.25 playback speed just so I could catch the meme perfectly while they’re about to blink loool
I read the title's "60's retrospective" as "60's perspective" and thought you got a person born in the 60's to review the show
Spider-Man Across the Spider-Verse is one of my Favorite Marvel Movies of all time can wait to see Spider-Man Beyond the Spider-Verse 😃😎👍🤟❤🕷🕸
When I was 7 I would wake up at 4 in the morning to watch this show on teletoon retro. I have really fond memories of it.
I recently read about 20 issues of the original spider man comics from the early years. It was a mystery who Green Goblin was for a long time. I could be wrong but when this cartoon was made I don't think his identity had been revealed yet.
Johnny mate. Cant wait to see your USM video! I know its not for everyone and wish you all the best on that Journey. Youll need luck😅😅😅😅😅
Forget the adaptation of the comic book villains, those series original ones are an absolute gem.
I wish they'd make a whole new retro animated feature in the same animation style, the same music same voices in a crazy, groovy, far out psychedelic adventure.
2:45 that was how JJJ was until the early 2000’s
I didn't watch a lotta of the classical Spider-Man animated show but man some of the plots are sorta funny lol.
