What you got at some point on your tv screen with the feedback was clearly a fractal (3:34), that setup indeed does a contractive mapping. ( like IFS system works)
I used to be a fractal fan, prefer dropping some acid than some line of codes today, more efficient ! Btw, i love your channel, it is refreshing, especially when i see what the electronic music scene music became lately (at least here in france), fucking do experiments, that's the spirit !
Sorry I was self-teaching myself on feedback video effect and I was wandering about what you wrote Do you mean the LZX VIDIOT's setup by "that setup indeed doea a contractive mapping"? If it's not hard to explain, can you also help me out with some infos or some kind of researches? Thank you in advance man, I'm also very much intrested in dropping acid stuff, peace
Dude, you’re videos are nothing short of inspirational. I’ve always wanted to get into synthesis but I never thought it could be something I could pursue. Now I’ve watched a lot of your videos and you’ve built everything so now I’m thinking I can do it.
This channel is the most inspirational thing in the whole internet. Just replased all software with analog stuff and I could not be more pleased about the outcome. Even your recommendation for live setup, the Behringer x-series was exactly what I needed. ..and now you just showed us how to control visuals without computer. Seems like you are super intelligent life form that can teach us the super life. Cheers and thank you!
Yo Sam … when you pointed the video camera at the TV you transported me back 30 years to when I first started producing analogue visuals, a lot of which I still use to this day (please take a quick look at my channel - even though I know you’re crazily busy) And then , how did you know that *Tales of the River Bank* was my favourite tv program when I was a ickle child. I’m looking to incorporate my vj’ing with modular audio so will check out Vidiot and other stuff . . . Your pipe organ is sounding and looking beyond amazing. P E A C E : )
DUDE! You're doing every synth related thing I've ever wanted to do! Love it all! I thought I was the only one who liked video synths, super cool to see someone put them together with the modular!
Very good, I've been staring down a few old school video appliances hoping to salvage some ICs for buffering video signals for something vaguely like this! Really looking forward to the diy side of this.
i love my vidiot, its super powerful u can do loads of cool stuff, keep experimenting. cant wait to see ur tachyons+ video. i got one of them also! also super interested in seeing other LZX videos, there is not a lot of good simple videos on LZX stuff!
I discovered the endless loop years ago messing about with a Hi8 camcorder, most decent CRT tv's back in the day would have vertical and horizontal controls, plus separate RGB controls, that combined with mirroring, quartering and polarising effects on my camcorder basically created results very similar to this, great fun! If you like this sort of this check out Bill Viola, he is one of the grand fathers of video art, his work is incredible.
For anybody curious about tinkering with this type of modular video synthesis without immediately diving into the more expensive hardware solutions, there's a great modular video synth app for OSX called "Lumen" which is a load of fun! Just messing around can really help you start to understand the basics of how these systems work.
I remember seeing a video LONG LONG ago of a guy doing this with a vga signal and a projector, was really neat, haven't been able to find it, but this is awesome.
I've been interested in stuff like this for a while, videos for early rave music (Stakker Humanoid, Severed Heads - Big Car Retread) seem to have used this. And the VHS compilations VHS showcasing this and early CGI abstract shapes etc (the 3LUX series, The Evil Acid Baron Show). This still seems like a way to get interesting visuals with an element of live creativity and randomness
Okay, Furby is hypnotizing me 😵🤩!!, oh my, oh my! THIS IS SO COOL!!! And, oh, the TV-Tower, pfff... I was just breaking my back to see you lift it up 💪🏻💪🏻💪🏻
Completely bonkers!. Put a big smile on my face especially, the live video effects created with Furby. :-D This according to me is like doing live video editing, theatrics and experimentation with synthesis and whatever is at your disposal... and just blending and seeing the results. Very psychedelic and funny at the same time! Keep doing what you are doing!
Not sure if I was watching one of your videos or hallucinating 😆 P.S. If you get light sync problems again, there’s a really easy fix! Just set your video frame rate to multiples of 50 or 25 and steer clear of 24, 30 and 60 etc.
You seem to have got the hang of this pretty quickly 😀 Iwant to video synthesis along with modular synthesis. Not sure if these VIDIOT gizmos are still available. Sizing up a Sleepy Circuits Hypno inseam.
That’s so badass. Make sure you look up Atari Video Music, Virtual Light Machine for the Jaguar and Jeff Minters Llamasoft for more lightsynth greatness!
did I just watch the coolest thing i've ever seen of my live.....FUUUUUCK DAT WAS AWESOME, i just feel like a kid who exactly now what he wants for christmas
U ARE A VERY UNIQUE PERSON, I REALLY LIKE THE WAY U FACE THE WORLD OF ELECTRONIC AND MUSIC, BUT MY QUESTION IS, HOW CAN U EFFORT ALL THAT AMOUNT OF AWESOME GEAR? ...
What they could do for a sci-fi show is have an LZX Vidiot as part of the spaceship's controls and have the output go into the ship's monitor. Reminds me of classic Dr. Who special effects.
Dude that looks just like my JVC TM15 ! God I love those monitors! looking forward to this analog video synth cause I'm a crt geek but haven't gotten into VJ/video synth yet either!
this channel is so unlike anything else I've ever seen
do you comment on all videos or just all of the ones ive ever watched
шо
Cyranek, Your like Justin Y.
Bro he's still at it
That furby part is creapy as hell
the infamous funky stuff
looks like hes got a 3rd eye
its not creepy if you make the devil jealous
not only this part but the sound-making part in general xD
I really thought I wouldn't give a lick about this, but now I want one.
I love how basically everything you have is on the verge of falling over but never does.
Dude is a mad scientist
Oh shit I'm feeling it
tachyon!
Eh
SUBATOMIC PENATRATION RAPID FIRE THROUGH YOUR SKULL

Chaotikmind interesting
I used to be a fractal fan, prefer dropping some acid than some line of codes today, more efficient !
Btw, i love your channel, it is refreshing, especially when i see what the electronic music scene music became lately (at least here in france),
fucking do experiments, that's the spirit !
Amen.
There is a rather fantastic BBC horizon documentary on fractals. Added bonus of Arthur C Clarke presenting and Pink Floyd music.
Sorry I was self-teaching myself on feedback video effect and I was wandering about what you wrote

Always love this dudes content. He straight up made that tv look like 4D
Please make more video synthesis videos!!!
Zwedgy I will be doing so! It has really captured my imagination.
Now we know how all 80s music videos were made. Thank you.
As a child of the 80s and all the strange analog RF stuff going on back then, this is the stuff of my nightmares.
The analogue TV aesthetic aesthetic is so perfect for you
The Bill Nye the Science Guy of Music Production. 😎

I was just gnna say bill nye
Is a huge twat

P E A C E : )
Wow. I'm gonna have nightmares - I think furbys are creepy enough without that music and distorted video...
Great vid though!
DUDE! You're doing every synth related thing I've ever wanted to do! Love it all! I thought I was the only one who liked video synths, super cool to see someone put them together with the modular!

The shakiness of the table just makes it better.
I tried one on those in Common Ground in Berlin, no idea what I was doing, but still pretty fun!
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA HELL YES HELL YES ive been wanting to learn the science-side of this stuff for like a year now i cant WAIT for your next video !!!
That was the most mind blowing manipulation of sound I have ever witnessed in my life
The glitched out video with the Furby is kind of the stuff of nightmares with that music going. So cool!
Wasn't sure I'd like the subject but I tripped out to that. Awesome hook up
you have one of the best and most interesting channels on youtube!
just when i thought your videos couldnt get any better
This is one of the coolest pieces of gear I've ever seen
i love my vidiot, its super powerful u can do loads of cool stuff, keep experimenting. cant wait to see ur tachyons+ video. i got one of them also!

I love your vids man! It baffles me how crafty you are. You really should monetize these
So I understand nothing going on on this channel but it is so interesting I cant stop watching!
Do you ever perform in Sheffield? Maybe for Algomech? Would love to see your work live.
Fantastic, very late 70s and early 80s visual fun there..Want one.
Great little deviation path for your channel, cant wait to see more video synthesis!
this is so sick thank you for all of the consistent smart and dope ass content
Thank you for doing a PROPER demo of the vidiot! Been on the fence about getting it, but now I think it would make a FINE addition to my setup.
Just when I thought modular couldn't get more alluring, it did. VISUALS YEAH!
You're the coolest person to exist ever. I wish I had your skillz
For anybody curious about tinkering with this type of modular video synthesis without immediately diving into the more expensive hardware
solutions, there's a great modular video synth app for OSX called "Lumen" which is a load of fun! Just messing around can really help you start to understand the basics of how these systems work.
So awesome. Cant wait to get a video synth for myself
I remember seeing a video LONG LONG ago of a guy doing this with a vga signal and a projector, was really neat, haven't been able to find it, but this is awesome.
Some of the visuals of this gizmo, and the etch-a-sketch TV, are really beautiful!
this is the coolest video I've ever seen
the furby + visual effects + spooky music are so funny together for some reason
Ive been wanting to make my own video synthesizer for quite a while. This is rekindling the flame.
I was on the fence about buying this, you just made me want one
Me: Mum, can I get a furby?
Mum: We have furby at home
Furby at home: 5:31
You are going to have so much fun with this. The furby section and sound reminds me of the psychedelic Carousel scene in Logan's Run.
Thanks for doing this video. Been looking into getting one of these but was waiting to see some proper demos. Cant wait to see next week!
hahah I feel like I'm watching a TV show from the 80s for some reason. I love your energy though, so energizing!
YAAAAAS!! Plug that Tachyons + box you have, those gears are amazing! Really looking forward to the next videos, great stuff!
Bloody brilliant Sam! The lab looks super cool!
Well I just became a Patron!
I really like where you went with this!
I've been interested in stuff like this for a while, videos for early rave music (Stakker Humanoid, Severed Heads - Big Car Retread) seem to have used this. And the VHS compilations VHS showcasing this and early CGI abstract shapes etc (the 3LUX series, The Evil Acid Baron Show). reminded me very much of Amnesia Scanner. good work!
pretty good for the no-clue phase. amazing furby scene with the music. the weird-meter blows at 6:52
Awesome! Diving into something slightly different but slightly the same. I'm excited for the exploration.
I do video synthesis but in software with Lumen, and would love to play with this :)
You are an amazing synthesis of complete lad and mad scientist!!!
That's some pretty cool potentially epilepsy inducing trippy effects right there. Keep up with the great vids Sam!
Lars dishes up some very interesting kit.
oh dear lord, that is so cool and inspiring
I can't wait to see the process you went through to accomplish this!!
YES! I was waiting for someone to cover this! Cat full of ghost is the channel that introduced me to this.
Okay, Furby is hypnotizing me 😵🤩!!, oh my, oh my! THIS IS SO COOL!!! And, oh, the TV-Tower, pfff... I was just breaking my back to see you lift it up 💪🏻💪🏻💪🏻
Perfect ode to summon Lord Furby !

I'm mad curious about all the video synth stuffis and specifically the LZX cadet series. Please touch on how it's all powered.
reminds me of the atari video music. cool! :)
You putting up a Furby just made my day! So funny!!!
Not sure if I was watching one of your videos or hallucinating 😆
P.S. If you get light sync problems again, there’s a really easy fix! Just set your video frame rate to multiples of 50 or 25 and steer clear of 24, 30 and 60 etc.

That’s so badass. Make sure you look up Atari Video Music, Virtual Light Machine for the Jaguar and Jeff Minters Llamasoft for more lightsynth greatness!
Art, music and tech unite as one, you should collaborate with teenage engineering with op-z. As always, deeply inspiring
This is cool !
Loved this video I’d love to get into circuit board building and modular synth I’ll get there one day
The synfesis lord is back! Missed your notifications man.
did I just watch the coolest thing i've ever seen of my live.....FUUUUUCK DAT WAS AWESOME, i just feel like a kid who exactly now what he wants for christmas
U ARE A VERY UNIQUE PERSON, I REALLY LIKE THE WAY U FACE THE WORLD OF ELECTRONIC AND MUSIC, BUT MY QUESTION IS, HOW CAN U EFFORT ALL THAT AMOUNT OF AWESOME GEAR? ...
nice overview - looking forward to your tachyons + review
That furby looked straight up demonic. I love it!
I'm officially tripped out right now.
*hello is this the radio station ugh yeah: thanks for makin good usage for our radio,s!*
You're always inspiring! Great work..
And thus, the trip down the vidsynth rabbit hole has begun...
bro this is probably one of the few time that I experience that sensation of mind blown and I never use drugs XD
that furby part was so creepy and I loved it
This is actually really aesthetic.
The textured you made remind me of that acid trip game on ps1

I'd swear I was subscribed to your channel, Sam 😮
I working with this camera and i love it so miuuchh
The music and visuals at the end remind me of Solaris.
U and u hypnotizing me u love it I love it that am so easily sucked in I missed u so much
The end visuals with the furby and the sounds reminds me of a strange 70/80's infocommercial about what happens if you take acid 😂
