Hi Guys, just curious if you can shed any light on whether a- lipoic acid can help with nerve damage, specifically neuropathy of the feet? Some claim it helps, but can be hard on stomach. Thanks.
Thanks! That was my question :-)
@@Trthsker24 Hi, my neurologist told me to take 600 mgs a day of Lipoic Acid for numbness in my feet. I've been taking it for 3 months and still have numbness
@@Trthsker24 I would try B12 instead. ProCapsLabs has the only one I know of that is protected from stomach acid and actually works.
@@carolvogel2008 wow, that is not enxouraging.
I’m been taking ala for at least 15 years for Neuropathy, was on 3 different medications for neuropathy. Got off all 3 medications.
Never lost any weight doing it!! Lost 100 pounds since Christmas doing Keto or low carb diet!!!
Does it help your neuropathy? My husband has peripheral neuropathy (hands and feet) from chemo 3 years ago (colorectal cancer).
Stephanie Smith yes!! I take 200 mg twice a day. It’s was recommended from my neurologist. I think he said that you can take up to 1200 mg a day, but ask your doctor.
@@johnfritz3792 thank you John!
@@johnfritz3792 hi can you please share the brand?
I bought some horribly hard to swallow horse pills.

@@olgasa6943 I buy mine from Puritan’s pride
I started this months ago and it definitely works for me! I started at a lower dose and then doubled it to around 650m a day. It not only helps with neuropathy but the weight gain as well. Be patient it works
So calming listening to you two. So many people on YT just sound scary, crazy and loud.
Thank you for this I have started this R/ ALA for Neuropathy issues also, hoping to get some good results! So I am glad to hear that it is good and safe!
Love these types of informational videos!
Love you
Thank you both. Great vid, great info. I took ALA yrs ago but forgot why. Starting it again lol.
Keeping us in the know. Good.
Amazing info! Thanks for sharing.
Thanks for the very helpful video! I love your channel.
Been using R alpha lipoic acid for over 10 years. Good results. I think the R isomer is better.
Thanks so much, love your channel
Thanks guys, have a wonderful day
I had never heard of this!! Thank u for this!
Nice information thanks u both! I'm from Philippines
I take it for my skin and it gives me a glow like nothing before!
Hey stacy.. Its been helping me with fatigue and energy has it helped you in that way?
Hii does it improves complexion
_"ALA is soluble both in water and fatty environments, allowing it to be a unique antioxidant that can protect all parts of your body. ALA also serves to recycle other antioxidants such as vitamin C, vitamin E and glutathione. Although the mechanism is still unclear, ALA improves uptake and use of glucose and other nutrients by some action on the insulin receptor. Insulin sensitivity and peripheral neuropathy in those with Type 2 diabetes and other metabolic disorders may be improved by ALA supplementation. ALA is best absorbed on an empty stomach, one to two hours before eating. Up to 1,600 mg per day for six months and 1,200 mg per day for two years have been well tolerated in studies, according to the Linus Pauling Institute."_
Bert Berkson reversed end stage Cirrhosis of the liver with Alpha Lipoic Acid. Why don't people know about this? Well could it be the liver trans plant BUSINESS keeping it hidden? Yup!
Bert Berkson had people off the liver transplant list in one month. Fully normal liver function completly healed normal livers!

Useful for diabetics for blood sugar and nerves
can you talk about if Moringa is also effective or is it all hype and better off doing Lipoic acid and L carnitine. TY!
ALA vs. Chromium Picolinate.....might make an interesting video lesson.
I’ve been adding liverwurst daily. So I must be getting some from that.
Good idea. Can't stand liver but can handle liverwurst ON something ;o) Maybe celery.
There are concerns regarding taking ALA (or R-LA) if you have "silver fillings" (which, as is well know, have a high mercury content and leak some mercury into the body) or mercury toxicity (from eating fish, for instance). I imagine this would be particularly bad for people with many and deep silver fillings. Have you ever looked into this?

However I take 1800 mg a day that’s three 600 mg pills away from food. It was an excellent video from Dr. Berg where he recommends this dosage sure worked for me😁👍👍
@@debbiewestphal4291 Awesome
I recently saw a video about this supplement reducing the burning and the stabbing pain in my feet and part of my leg.. I think some of the pain is from my flat feet and sciatica. I wear custom arc supports from my foot Dr. . I still get pain from being on the concrete floors at work a lot. My triglycerides have been in the good range even though I'm about 40 lbs over weight. I started taking the Alpha Lipoic Acid for about 5 weeks now to see if it would help with my neuropathy. About 2 weeks in, I felt less intensity. I went from 400 mg to 600 mg and I have to say my Nerve pain has been reduced by about 80% now. I no longer have the pain when I lay down at night. If I don't wear my arc supports, the pain, though not as intense will be there. From what I saw, it appears this supplement helps your nerve outer sheet to repair itself. I can see where it would cause pain if the protective outer sheath is thin or gone. Now that I feel less pain, I'm going to get back on the elliptical now to loose some weight!
Good morning guys
I lost 80 pounds taking ALA for eight months!! Amazing!!
Sounds like u capping right now
What brand and dose did you take?
Wow really?
BS? You were either doing something else or are just a shill.
Sure you did!🤣😂🤣😂
Please look further into ALA supplements if you have amalgam fillings.
I'm looking to combine ala and berberine. Thoughts? Any video would be awesome. Also can you guys try a blood glucose levels with berberine and supplements like you did with sweetners?
Combine ALA with niacin for better results...200 ALA with 200 mg niacin .
It's crazy but Berberine makes me ravenous.
Dr can i take ala with blood pressure meds blood tinner asperine nifedipine plus neurobalin for my pinch nerves from 4 herenated disc keep up the good work God bless
You can take but keep a close eye on blood sugar and BP....because your medication and ALA are doing the same job.or you can stop your medication and start with ala alone
Yes i just discovered my blood glucose leels are always on the high side....i have had chronic lyme and believe it stuffed my mitochondria....now ages ago when i was still sick i remember taking it and losing weight...so Im going back on it ,as i always struggle with my weight, due to being chronically ill for years.Cortisol spikes blood sugar is what i believe.
Would you do a video on conjugated linoleic acid?
We do have a video on that: ruclips.net/video/rPzF3m4ATpE/видео.html
Does it interfere with levothyroxine ?
Can you talk about glandulars?
I’ve been taking Alpha Lipoic Acid , R-Lipoic Acid w/CoQ10 and Chromim Picolinate every day for years. Didn’t do a thing for my blood sugar or triglycerides:(
Have you looked into using biles acids?
Please...........for how long?
Solgar gold label works
I've taken it as a supplement from a couple different sources and it typically causes some degree of nausea especially in the morning on an empty stomach 🤢
I take it with a small amount of baking soda with water to reduce the heartburn.
does mct oil have lipoic acid?
Dr Keith…do you take 600 mg of ALA? Is that what you recommend?
How much L Carnitine?
Thank you
If you are taking it for a condition start with 600 mg in 300 each twice...if for maintenance start with 150./ 200 once
@@King311___ for sure...you can ..200mg...add milk thistle too

Which are the best brands? For supplements and alpha lipoic....
Doctor best
If I took all the supplements suggested for someone over 60 years old, I could consider supplements as a complete meal on its own! Is ALA being suggested as an additional supplement to MCT oil, or is MCT sufficient??
MCT is a.meal itself...ALA is supplemental
Fine but everyone keeps saying only order R-alpha lipoic acid please advise us all thank you Dr Keith.
PLEASE DONT ASK QUESTIONS ON THIS PLATFORM FROM THE PHD's they don't answer questions unless you send money first FACT.
Having trouble finding a reputable brand for r alpha lipoic acid. Any suggestions?
Im a type 2diabetic diet controld and I take Doctors Best Benfotiamine combined with Alpha Lipoic Acid, I'm now in diabetic remission and I'm these supplements have helped me, God bless 😊🇬🇧
My husband takes alpha lipoid acid from GNC for neuropathy.
In my experience seed oil PUFAs are the primary cause of neuropathies but I also take ALA for the same reason.
Does the ALA help anybody with their neuropathy? I was told I have idiopathic neuropathy, basically they don't know what it's cause is.
@@carolvogel2008 My understanding is it typically involves poor circulation and capillary damage around nerves caused by chronically high insulin and ingestion of seed oil PUFAs. So you can start to reverse it using a low carb keto diet, and by displacing the dangerous PUFAs in your body over time with healthy omega 3 PUFA oils from animal foods like canned herring and sardines, pasture-raised eggs, grass-fed beef and from supplements like vitamin B1 (benfotiamine) and ALA. After about a year of this regimen my neuropathy symptoms are disappearing. You can't rely on supplements alone, it really requires dietary changes.
@@John-Nada Thank you for this advice, I've recently started keto and am taking B vitamins, yes most of my life has been filled with high carb, low fat, and lots of processed foods. Close to a year ago my doc said my a1c was too close to pre-diabetes. Most of this year has been very low carb and now keto. Hopefully I'm on the road to recovery for the neuropathy. Take good care
@@John-Nada thank you for this info! I'm going to share this with my hubby as he has peripheral neuropathy due to chemotherapy. I've gotten him to change some of his eating habits (which weren't too bad) but he has hypoglycemia so its been hard to navigate the change.

I was watching the nerve doctor here on RUclips and she said ALA is useless unless it is R ALA. I am so overwhelmed with all this information. Is regular ALA useless? I have been taking it for so long. I feel like she was trying to sell her products thats why she stated that in her videos.
There are many companies that you can get R-ALA from. You don't have to buy the nerve doctor's product, although if you're trying to heal the nerves, it might be good to consider other nutrients that would be beneficial for nerve healing.
I cant find the links?
Can I take this if I’m on Levothyroxine?
This would be a question for a pharmacist.
Everything I can find says don't do it
What’s dosage?
600mg/day
Can you take A.L.A with alli?
Yes
the report you showed was r-la not ala. I use stabilized r-la since dr eric berg mentioned it.

Why is R l Acid
How many supplements do y'all take a day? My list is getting really long. It's becoming a little difficult to take all these pills everyday. I think I'm going to have to shorten the list.
Yeah I agree. I try taking a multivitamin so I don't have to take all those supplements separately. But the supplements like alpha lipoic, berberine, chromium, etc are never together with different supplements/herbs 😭
Use the free Cronometer nutrition app to learn where you might have dietary deficiencies and excesses. It's fun to use and is quite enlightening. Without that kind of feedback you can waste time and money on unnecessary stuff.
@Judy C yeah I just bought collagen powder so that's another thing.. In the morning I have the apple cider vinegar, lemon juice, and cinnamon.. MCT coffee after that... and on and on and on.. It's very much work trying to get healthy 🙂😂.
Hi guys, when you take Alpha Lipoic Acid on an empty stomach, how long do you have to wait before you can eat?
