      Thank you Gayle. I’m very excited to learn. I do have my doubts about Spinel & clearly say so. But I’m not sure why people have to argue about the Jadeite too? 🤷🏼‍♀️ it’s not impossible to have a Jadeite chip necklace. It tests as Jadeite. Looks like Jadeite. And there are plenty of Jadeite necklaces that sell every day, every where, all the time. But it seems every time you have Jadeite, and even show it tests as Jadeite, they come out and say it’s Aventurine. ☹️

    Hi Cheri! I have a large Larimer pendant that I got about five years ago. I didn't know that they weren't being mined that much anymore. I know that they are from the Dominican Republic. I am glad I got a piece before it's too scarce and expensive. Thanks for the info! There are so many neat gemstones in this video! I am going back and watching all of your older videos! So many gorgeous pieces!!!! Love all the glass work and the stone necklaces. There is a white stone to test silver on with the silver solution. Makes it easy to see the rust color right on the stone. Plus seeing it when rubbed off with the cotton. My landlord and best friend, of 20 years was killed in a head on accident. He had no will so everything went to the kids who passed it to his ex-wife. Exactly what he did not want. She is not a nice person to be kind. I ended up evicted and on a desperate search in an area where it is 6-8 month waiting list. I had to take a HUD apartment, just over 500 sq feet. I had over 100 boxes to go through, having mine and my Mother's things. What a nightmare, but God has seen me through it all. I have given so much collectible glass and other treasures to the Salvation Army because I just do not have any room. I hope and pray your move is an easy one. Housing is so difficult now. I so highly regret selling my house. But seeing the future is not a skill I have, so I make the most of today.

    Could the 925 necklace with the worn pearls be Taxco? Was there a dash after the first two letters? If it's Taxco, I'd sell it as is and just disclose the wear. If not, I'd probably restring the beads in to a simple bracelet.
    Also, I do wonder if the gorgeous necklace with the stone chips could be all Jade. Jade comes in every color of the rainbow. Look up some examples of jade chips in similar colors to the colors on your necklace and see how they compare.

    That elephant necklace IS bone!!! Bone has pitting in it and I could see the obvious pitting on the back (just like you'd see on a ham bone). Ivory has a grain to it just like wood does, because ivory grows in layers like your finger and toenails. Sometimes it's difficult to see it. Celluloid has neither pits or grain. Look very carefully, because it's sometimes difficult to tell ivory from celluloid. The more you look at it all, the better you get at identification! 🤓

    • @BlessedBaubles
      @BlessedBaubles  8 месяцев назад +1

      Thanks for your input. As far as bone, it usually has black pitting in it too. This piece has no black pitting whatsoever and is incredibly lightweight.
      I'm starting to study celluloid and its a tough one as it can look like so many things. My thoughts are, they make a mold of an item that could have pitting in it to look like bone. Perhaps that's what this one is?
      As for Ivory, I know that one pretty well.
      Thanks again. This would be great conversation on my Facebook group. Maybe I'll post this necklace there, and show others what ivory looks like. Great subject!

    The necklace you're looking for in the beginning of this video, in the book you are looking and think it maybe spinel...it's fluorite

    • @BlessedBaubles
      @BlessedBaubles  9 месяцев назад +3

      I do have my doubts about the Spinel. But how do we reconcile that… Fluorite is the mineral form of calcium fluoride, CaF₂. It belongs to the halide minerals. It crystallizes in isometric cubic habit, although octahedral and more complex isometric forms are not uncommon.
      *** The Mohs scale of mineral hardness, based on scratch hardness comparison, defines value 👉 4 as fluorite
      Spinel is the magnesium/aluminium member of the larger spinel group of minerals. It has the formula MgAl ₂O ₄ in the cubic crystal system. Its name comes from the Latin word spinella, a diminutive form of spine, in reference to its pointed crystals. Wikipedia
      Chemical formula: MgAl₂O₄
      Hardness*** (Mohs hardness scale): 👉 7.5 - 8

    • @joannegib1
      @joannegib1 9 месяцев назад

      I came here today fluorite too. There are not enough names of gems to fit on the presidium x

    • @BlessedBaubles
      @BlessedBaubles  8 месяцев назад +2

      @@joannegib1 Thank you Joanne. I’m not sure what you mean by the first part of your comment, but I do understand that the Presidium can only list so many gems. But I’m going by the hardness of the stones, the book, the presidium website, etc. The Moh’s hardness for Fluorite is much lower than what these beads test.
      But you can be sure I’ll keep looking so I can find a good explanation.
      Thanks again.

    Isn’t it interesting that those faux pearls have a safety chain and that marvelous clasp ? Kinda gilding the lily.

    • @BlessedBaubles
      @BlessedBaubles  9 месяцев назад +2

      It is VERY interesting! I’ve been asking myself ALL NIGHT… why would a beautiful set of faux pearls have a 22 karat gold clasp and safety chain on them? 22 kata gold!! That’s almost pure 24 karat gold!! What am I missing?
      The answer may be that South Sea Golden Pearls are some of the most valuable pearls!! Perhaps the clasp, like other costume pieces, carries the “look” of authentic all the way.
      OR.. this is a piece I will have to take to a higher authority and see why it has such a stunning clasp!
      I think the latter will be necessary because no matter why it is there, I need to price this piece. 😅

    Hi I appreciate your video. At the 14:26 time marker while you were testing the clear stones it seemed to me that they were in the quartz range, is it possible to have a mix of spinel, Janette and quartz?

    • @BlessedBaubles
      @BlessedBaubles  9 месяцев назад +1

      Sure. Very possible. However, If you have a Presidium and you test little chips like this, I’m sure you know that many factors can make little chips like these fluctuate from Chip to chip.
      Or, as you say, the clearer ones might be Quartz.
      But I did not find that all clear stones were in the quartz range but rather in a harder range. Harder than Jadeite which is Spinel.
      I do have my doubts about the Spinel. But how do we reconcile that…
      Quartz Moh’s’ Scale Hardness is 6 1/2 to 7.
      Spinel on Moh’s hardness scale is 👉 8 which is right where it kept testing. 🤷🏼‍♀️🤓

    30:06 Looks like your silver test solution might’ve gone bad. It’s suppose to be a relatively bright red color. When it turns dark like that, it’ll start giving you false negatives. I learned this from watching another RUclipsr, YourVintageBeauties. Try testing something that you know for certain is silver.

      Thanks Andrew, but the metal was not silver so the color would not turn red. It was 22 karat gold.

      AventurineGemstone
      Aventurine is a form of * quartz, characterised by its translucency and the presence of platy mineral inclusions that give it a shimmering or glistening effect termed aventurescence. Wikipedia
      Chemical formula: SiO₂
      Hardness (Mohs hardness scale): 6.5 - 7 👈
      Jadeite has a Mohs hardness of 7, 👈 Slightly Harder than Quartz.
      Fracture surfaces are sugary in texture, and sparkle from the exposed perfect cleavage on [110]. Jade is relatively dense, with a specific gravity of 3.3 to 3.5 in natural specimens.
      I’m not sure why there is such a resistance to the necklace being a Jadeite Chip necklace. There are thousands of them sold every day, every where.
      Do you see a specific difference in how they look that should override the fact that these test in the Jadeite range rather than Quartz where Aventurine would be?
