Festus, where this band is from is my home town. Lived here all my life. Festus used to flood from the Mississippi frequently until better levees were built.
I got turned onto these guys when they moved to Brooklyn in the 90's and released "On the Brooklyn Side" and I've followed them ever since.Rock n' Roll lives with good old fashioned "roots rock." I also love the Drive-by Truckers.
This spring season has seen the Mississippi, Ohio and all other contributing rivers reaching severely high levels. Two days ago, Louisville, KY had water coming over the landing below Joe's Crab Shack. In mid-March, Natchez, MS saw it's third highest river stage. That same week, Vicksburg, MS had water climbing six feet up the levee wall. In Saint Francisville, White Castle, New Roads and Vacherie, LA all had water only a few feet from cresting over the levees. In Baton Rouge, the USS Kidd was floating near the top of her mooring towers and the city 'Paper clip' dock was only three feet from being underwater.
@grifftrain No problem with the nitpicking but the Bottle Rockets did relocate to Brooklyn and they played at the "Coyote Recording Studio" in Williamsburg, Brooklyn in 1994 to record "on the Brooklyn Side." They stayed at producer Roscoe Ambel's apartment in Brooklyn. Most recently, the Rockets worked with Ambel at his "Cowboy Technical Services Studio" to record Lean Forward in 2009 - - also located in Williamsburg, Brooklyn.
@dennis789111 ...I know this is nitpicking, but I dont think they ever moved to Brooklyn. The Brooklyn Side is a bowling term. They hail from Missouri. I never read anything about them relocating to Brooklyn. Anyway, they are a great group, and Im glad to see you into them. They were part of the "Uncle Tupelo" groups, as were Wilco and son Volt, who are great groups too.

So this is "alternative country". Has some heartland rock influence.
BINGO! First time I ever heard this band, this is the first song I am hearing and BINGO I immediately know they are great.
I'm Scottish, working class but can relate to this music entirely. It hits the spot. Please reform Uncle Tupelo!
