Just had this happen on my 2010 Cupra R. Very thorough and has allowed me to keep my car on the road whilst I wait for the replacement latch to arrive. Thanks fella
Glad to hear it's helped you out Tony! 👍🏻 I didn't think this video would be that useful to viewers, but published it anyway and seems like it's helping a few out after all, so always good to hear. Thanks again 😊
Your idea is brilliant, I had similar issue and also had a local trip coming up, with the idea you showed I tied up the boot door with a string and was able to travel without any issues the lights also worked. Thank you so much. God bless. Keep up the good work.
Hello sir,I have the problem with the opening by the key,if I push and old the boot don’t open automaticaly but only with manual clutch, maybe i should change the hatch?thank you
Some of the older pre facelift cars (2005 - 2009) didn't open the boot by holding the button sadly. My car is the facelift so was activated as standard. My boot opens fully by itself because of aftermarket boot struts which are modified to open it all the way. You could possibly activate the auto boot button through VCDS or a obdeleven code reader. I don't think changing the catch will make a difference
Just with different struts fitted. They have springs on them. The facelift MK2 Leon's pop the boot a little if you hold the button on the way, but the struts then lift it up properly
Hey Rob, they were off eBay, and I've been really pleased with them. They are a bit expensive, but more useable day to day instead of the over powerful Octavia strut upgrade. I searched eBay just now, not sure if it's still the same seller, but I have linked the listing below anyway 👇🏻 www.ebay.co.uk/itm/115868138047?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=3f5IeeQHQXe&sssrc=4429486&ssuid=vCDiAaHLTtq&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY Hope that helps 👍🏻
Hi Harry, I bought them from a company on Facebook, laser art. Was a while ago now, so unsure if they still do them, but worth asking the question. facebook.com/UkLaserArt If no luck with them, online search PP3D, they do more expensive versions, which I'm about to install. They have a premium finish to them 👌🏻
New ones are around £130 sadly, and personally I'd just get a 2nd hand unit for around 30 quid. Just type MK2 Leon boot handle into eBay, there's loads for sale, but preferably find one that has some form of warranty, even if it's just 30 days
How do you readjust the catch on the boot opening? I am going mad. I replaced the lock mechanism and it is only going to stage 1 of engaging and the trunk sensor is going on and off when driving. Could you specify how to readjust it? Thank you!
Theres 2 torx bolts on the body of the car that you can slacken off to move the metal looped catch downwards and upwards (depending on how the boot is shutting) Adjusting that, should give you the 2nd stage position back so that the boot is properly shut, there's no gaps around the edge and that the warning goes away 👍🏻
I'm pretty sure if it's making a constant clicking noise, the switch & handle should be ok and what ur hearing is the latch trying to open constantly. I made mine make the same noise when I was trying to figure out what had gone wrong. I think when the switch fails, you won't hear anything, as it's not sending any power to the latch.
Hey Alex, I'm not too sure as it could be a number of things. Making the noise happen when you're stationary and having someone pinpoint where it's coming from always helps. It's what I do when I don't have a clue what's clicking or clonking each day. Hopefully you track it down 🤞🏼
Your fob may be damaged inside and require replacing or you may have an older version fob as SEAT had a few variations and some performed differently to others when they first came out, so it may not be available on your type of fob sadly.
Came to this video after my boot latch went. I ordered a replacement and it seems to be not catching either?! Microswitch works still as it makes the bussing noise. Could it be anything else?
Hey Jason. Have you tried testing it with the boot open and using a screwdriver to close the latch? If u give that a try, that may indicate the issue. Push a screwdriver to click the latch so that the hooked part is in the closed position (there's 2 stages to the close position, so push it quite far closed) If it stays in this closed position, u may need to adjust the bit it catches onto, on the body of the car. The wee looped bit on the boot opening, held by 2 torx screws, may need loosened and moved up slightly. Active the boot handle to open the latch before testing again with closing the boot properly. If the boot is closed and the latch only goes to the 1st closed stage and isn't fully depressed into the 2nd closed stage, it will spring open again. Hope that helps 👍🏻
@@NorthCoastWorkshop I can push the latch the whole way and it will spring open again as if there is no force holding it closed at all, even when plugged in. Starting to think it is an electronic issue
Hmmm, strange. If the handle wiring isn't connected to the latch, can u manually push the latch closed with a screwdriver, and it will stay closed ?? The latch is mechanical inside, so if it doesn't stay closed then u might have a faulty latch unit. When the handle is wired to the latch, all the electrics do is activate a wee release motor inside the latch to open the boot.
@@NorthCoastWorkshop nope, connected or not the latch seems to spring open again. Both the original and new one I bought! I was fiddling last night and could get the original latch to SOMETIMES lock at 1st position using a screwdriver when not connected but not the case when hooked up. Really at a loss now so think it'll be a trip to the mechanic
Hi my leon today do a problem pirat time i years its -C° and i have to open bouth of my rear doors and it happend when i close them they didnt lauch and the upper hand from the outside come loose
The mechanism inside the doors and boot sometimes freezes during the colder months ❄️ all you can do is warm the lock area with a hairdryer and after a few minutes it should work 👍🏻
That's a strange issue! And must be really annoying for you too! You think Seat Leon's, originating from Spain would be more resilient to the hotter temperatures, so this kind of thing wouldn't happen. Possibly the thin metal arm of the microswitch is bending gradually as it's temperature changes, and then gets to a point where it clicks the switch and activates the boot?
Seat leon=a trouble maker I have this problem + the rear left passenger door lock problem + water leak in rear and front right passenger side footwell😡
Good shout Brian 👍🏻 definitely if no noise is coming from the latch when trying to open using the handle, and the tail lights won't light up, damaged wires could be the issue.

One of the most informative videos I have seen. Really good, thanks 😊
Thank you for your kind words, and glad you found it useful 😊🙏🏻

Your boot misbehaving too?😅
Have you painted your spoiler or is it a separate lip?
It's a gloss black extension that comes standard factory fitted on the Leon cupra R's 👍🏻
To re adjust the metal catch at bottom, what size torx is it?
It's a number 8 multi-spline (or triple square it's called) 👍🏻

I think it's either a torx head or a triple square/multispline that you should require for the fixings 👍🏻
