The Purpose Podcast, Ep. 7 - Ft. Eve Horne & Richard Hayes

In this week's episode, I am joined by Eve Horne, Founder of the Unheard Campaign & part of only 3% of women who are recognised music producers in the UK.
Eve believes everyone has a voice that we all struggle to find. Her journey has been nothing short of a journey to finding her own voice.
Eve's Journey started in 1991 where:
💥At the age of 13, she was one of the first and youngest members of Brit School.
💥At the age of 18, secured a record deal with Polydor.
💥Toured with Boyzone, Back Street Boys, Peter Andre & worked alongside Jermaine Dupri.
💥Signed with EMI.
💥One of the first recognised black female sound engineers.
💥Her first experience working for an employer was Apple.
💥Founded The Unheard Campaign to illustrate the disparity between the levels of female to male music producers in the UK.
Although Eve's Journey on the surface shows a clear sign of determination, endurance & persistence, there is the less spoken story that shows the mental struggles she faced.
Battling with depression while she struggled to become a recognised sound engineer in the UK Music Industry.
She was faced with a life-threatening health challenge in her 20s which changed the course of her life.
She fell out of love with music, left the industry entirely. Going on to work for Apple and then on to working for Transport for London as a Train operator. Her life truly flipped.
Despite all the challenges she faced over the last 18 years, she once again found her voice in 2018 and now runs retreats for upcoming music producers to help them find their voices.
This episode lent a refreshing insight into what many people like her are faced with on a daily basis and I am truly thankful for being able to share part of her story!
The Purpose of this Podcast is to help individuals who have really struggled to find their way through this pandemic. We draw on our personal stories and accounts to help people understand and realise that they are not alone and that we are all in this together.
