Apple Intelligence could avoid Microsoft and Google's AI mistakes (WWDC 2024)

- Apple's spin on AI is finally here, and it already seems smarter than Microsoft Copilot and Google Bard. Apple Intelligence focuses on privacy and "personal intelligence," with a bit of an assist from ChatGPT. While we haven't tested it ourselves yet, Apple appears to be avoiding the pitfalls of Microsoft's Recall feature, as well as Google Bard's unfortunate early gaffes.

More importantly: iPad now finally has a calculator app 🎉
Swear never understood why it didn’t have it from get go
Unironically agree thanks to Math Notes
It's called calcul-AI-tor.
"Apple Intelligence" ... "You are holding it wrong" apple !!!
The best thing on the event was the confirmation of the second season of Severance! Finally!
Really? still soo late, I thought it was renewed and coming out anytime now
yes idd! haha
Ahh finally. Season 1 was some of the best TV I've ever seen
"Apple Intelligence" ... "You are holding it wrong" apple !!!
Terrible bias against Microsoft here. As if Microsoft didn’t put privacy first on Azure Open Ai and Copilot from the start. As if Apple did (quote) « frame it better » was actual privacy. Put on an Apple Store tee shirt already.
Idk why apple almost gets almost a free pass in these "privacy" issues.
I think for the more "useful" AI assistant, Apple has more of the building blocks to make it more geniuely useful/helpful (if you provide them your personal data) due to them also having a more cohesive ecosystem and alot of ppl actually being in it quite deeply.
Google should have the necessary data as well, but them not really desktop presence might hurt them
Microsoft While having Desktop and Maybe Email and Calender data really lacks presence in what i would argue would be important interms of getting context etc, the phone.
Microsoft has the presence where AI is being used more, enterprise customers. Google does have presence in desktop space with chromebooks but i hate how chromebooks are moving away from the original pitch of a simple computer for web browsing
@@Dani-kq6qq for most consumers I'd argue it remains to be sen if MS Copilot really will take off with like your average Joe.
I might be Abit bias cause I do think I prefer virtual assistant more than what llm do ( basically more proactive and can deal with multiple data sources like email msgs etc) so I put more stock with apple's vision.
@@Ex14 You shouldnt put stock in Apple's vision, Apple has been promising that Siri is smart for 10 years. Wait to see if it works like Apple claims. They have claimed these things before, not the first time
pretty low bar considering the current drama and problems with Copilot and Google AI. Still, quite hopeful with their security features. We'll see how it goes lmao
I don't trust Open AI and as for Apple Intelligence only new hardware can run it... is a complete turn off for me, and how apple joined with a company that is rewriting history not in a good way since their boarders and creators are completely questionable people with their judgments... yuck... and knowing we pay for the apple eco system monthly
I need a way to toggle on Chat GPT approval from Siri. Also, I wonder does Siri hold the info she learns from these chat bots.
Also, can I tell Apple Intelligence that the suggestion of action it takes is wrong so it can adapt further to me?
The fact that Apple Intelligence doesn’t come even to the vanilla iPhone 15 with a one year old chip, is a bit disconcerting. Is it that the A16 is really that underpowered? Or there is not enough RAM or storage space? Or they want people to upgrade to the 15 pro or the iPhone 16 with the A17 (non-pro)? Or maybe they are going to allow access at a later date once the models have been further optimized and can run on slightly older hardware?
I can see Owners of iPhone 15 not being happy about being excluded from Apple Intelligence.
You know the real answer it's just that it's so simple. They want you to buy the newest iphone.
Here is why I feel part of this conversation is disingenuous. At the time people thought Recall was "creepy", nobody knew it was just a plain text file. For a year, at least, companies looking to implement AI has been hammered in the tech sector. Yet it is suddenly taken at face value that Apple has seemingly avoided pitfalls because they term it Personal Intelligence? I specifically remember Satya Nadella term it Personal Intelligence too.
did you watch the keynote or have a brain that understands tech? they actually took measures to protect and safeguard data.
@@ArthropodSpidey Taking it at face value...again
Recall is something completely different. It makes screenshot every x-seconds of every private interaction, and stores it unencrypted as jpg files (we can simply rename them to jpgs) so you have all this sensitive data lying around. Meanwhile Apple just makes it easier to find and interact with already existing data. It's something completely different.
@@WatchNoah You're saying this like no new data ever gets added to the iphone. If I add a new picture to the iphone, it's not already existing data, its a new one
@@ifrankenstein7455 yes but there is no new feature collecting any crazy amount of data. basically only the search for information through summaries, etc. got better
They did nothing new with iPad Os did they? so much for the new iPads.
Also I'm keeping my 13 Pro Max another year!
the mistakes come from the same filters they have...and they have the same ones soooo
If your worried about how apple can create an image of your contacts then you should of stopped using apple products when they introduced faces or people in iphoto.
Hold on stop saying apple has it's own AI. Apple use Google AI to train apple AI. So it's not apple AI it's Google AI
,...AND SHE IS BACK 🤩🤩🤩🤩
Now we gotta wait for it. wackness.....
NYC
Apple Intelligence had me turn off auto-update on my phone 😅
@engadget the only mistake here is continuing to feature Cherlynn in your videos 😂
Apple intelligence 😂
