This is good, I have Parkinson's and just learned the diaphragm becomes a problem because it gets stuck and doesn't move properly which leads to breathing from your throat and that causes a hoarse voice which I've experienced the last 8 months without any idea what was causing it. So now my challenge is to get my diaphragm moving again through exercise. Wish me luck!! Mark

omfg when she said that first one, that one really got to me. every time i genuinely try to take a deep breath in, as she said, i struggle a lot when inhaling and even have to stop in the middle at times cause i get tired doing it. i even feel like giving up because it keeps happening, and it's so annoying.
but the one time i can tell it's a complete inhale, i feel absolutely no tension in my neck, and yes i burp lol
im happy she mentioned it, cause it reminded me that i shouldn't give up on it, and with time i will learn how to do it easily

HI.. I am just a beginner in music and I am having some serious breathing issues.
Every trainer I have met tells me that I have a decent voice but I am not able to have a control over my breath.
Either it creates a tension into my throat or my abdomen becomes stiff and sometimes my chest sort of becomes stiff.
Could you please throw light on that. I will be obliged... Need some serious help here.

Sagar Rawal neither does she, it’s ok. You actually can’t do anything with your diaphragm because it’s not a muscle. It’s a paper thin tissue that just is under your rib cage. You use your abs to breathe. Put your hand on your tummy, make an O-shape syllable with your mouth and as you breathe out, expand your abs. Like push your stomach out. And breathing in, squeeze your abs and push your stomach in slowly. This takes practice! Sorry for late reply

I'm 16, and love Mariah Carey. I want to be sure I'm not harming my voice too much. (although it feels like I've improved somewhat)
