  • Crossing the Atlantic SOLO on my 1970 Hurley 18 (5,5m) sailboat called 1/4 Life Crisis .
    This is Part 2 of my Atlantic Crossing in Winter 2021/22. It took me 30 days from Lanzarote to Antigua.

    When I made a passage/crossing on a 27 foot (8.2m) boat, everyone called me insane. Yet this guy does it with almost half of that, awesome :D

      Hurley 18 might be one of the best choices from mall boats thanks to its good ballast/weight ratio.

      When I was in my 20s I dreamed about big ocean crossing in a 24foot Spaekhugger. Now I am in my 50s and just bought a Spaekhugger. Maybe dreams come true. This video is very inspiring 😁

    Ein echtes kleines Segelboot, sicher und preiswert. Eine Menge Mut und Begeisterung typisch für junge Menschen. Endlich sehen wir nicht mehr die üblichen Bügeleisen, weiß, mit Doppelruder, alle gleich, mindestens 40 Fuß.

      No he couldn't, he has no generator and none of the solar panels needed to power an autopilot and in those conditions it would consume A LOT of power.

    I can't get tired of waching your videos. What a great adventure.
    Would you do a video about How you'v got there? How and when did yoi get the idea. How and where you got your boat. What preparation works did you do on it. Aprox costs. These could be a big help for people like me, who are dreaming to do something similar one day.

      In actuality and I’m not taking anything away from this brave guy as far as sailing goes this as easy as it gets. If you threw a bottle in the ocean from where he started it would wash up in the Caribbean in a couple months.
      Massachusetts to Europe is 10x more difficult/dangerous.

      What would the purpose be? To prolong your inevitable death a couple hours after seeing you boat sail away?
      You don’t wear life jacket where there is < .01% chance of being rescued!

      There's a Swede who sails in a 12ft tube all over the world. Polynesians were doing it in dug out wooden catamarans when Europeans were still afraid to leave their caves. He'll be fine and if he isn't, he's still living better than most.

    Have to admit it's impressive going across the Atlantic in what is basically a trailer sailer, not totally sane grant you and certainly not safe but impressive none the less.

    If I was going to sail across any ocean I would need a sailboat bigger then a whale at least 100 ft. long, and 24 ft, at the beam.... I would prefer it to be bigger around 200 ft. long, and a 40 ft. beam....

      Many people take 30 and 40 foot yachts all over the world and cross the Atlantic.

      I know what your trying to say but a big boat > 40’ has HUGE forces on it and as a solo sailor would be all but uncontrollable without a crew so more dangerous.

      I brought 120l Water and used absolut 60l. Food For +50days was Stored mainly underneath the bunkes
