For all of us who dream of this day, we sit in our offices and watch you with envy and dream of the day to experience this simple life and freedom. Please keep making these awesome videos.
I totally got the first week inside cabin. The vastness of the ocean made me feel very small, insignificant and at the total mercy of God. It’s a surreal feeling.
I enjoyed this. 20+ days is a long time to be entirely alone and at the mercy of mother nature. I imagine psychologically this can be challenging but at the same time a pure and beautiful experience. Thank you for sharing your journey and all the best for your next adventure.
This is the coolest video ever. What an adventure!!! I am an armchair sailor and tell myself I could TOTALLY do this crossing till I got seasick just watching the huge waves and the boat dipping and climbing. 😂😂
All times that i watch yours videos , i feel the spirit of adventure, respect for the sea for the nature and the teaching of the a great, simple, man. I semi to be there. Thank you.
Great video! In particular I enjoy your calm, honest and realistic style. No exaggerated drama or hype of any sort. Just the straight tale of what actually happened. Please keep your videos this way as it is so delightfully different from most of the other (inflated) sailing channels out there. Thanks!
The best channel , I really like it and so incredible voyage .Beautiful classic yacht .Greetings from tropical island Kauai. Fear winds and the best luck.
Wonderful video and congratulations on a huge achievement! Something about the view of the ocean when you were first out of sight of land really conveyed the mental challenge that, I imagine, is the hardest part of solo voyaging. You've had the experience of a lifetime and I hope we see more voyages from you in the future. Well done!
It was a pleasure to watch, nice music and beautiful ocean views. You've done such a remarkable journey and yet talk about it humbly. Wish I was there to help you with genoa ))
You did a great job with the filming, editing, and choice of score to perfectly capture all the emotions of doing something like this, from the ungodly terror of the insignificance, to the beauty of the more still moments, and the complete reliance on the boat. Really good job.
@@SailingAloneAcrossTheOcean The story is very similar to yours 😍😍 you can't always be tied to the ship, and one second is enough, I often thought about it, but always after..🙈🙈
We just booked with my husband keel boat certification course on the Atlantic coast, I never sailed before. And based on your video and others I have impression that mental challenge is crucial. I am not sure I can handle it.
Thank à lot for sharing your so beautifull aventure and congratulation . What a so awesome work alone !!!! We'd like To know more of you and your boat ....what is the next travel ? Bon vent ....
Thank you, Christophe! More about my boat is on reykja.ch/en/motiva-39-s-information/ and more about my travels on the same website. At the moment I stay at Dominica and do a lot of bushwalking. Thrilling and exhausting...
Its always funny to look at videos of waves. You can have some huge waves and then you look at the video afterwards and they look like ripples in a pond :D
On my journey the swell differed. Days with low swell and days with quite steep swell. Others with long, high, but not steep Atlantic swell. Thank you!
I watch alot of sailing videos and really enjoyed watching this. Although I usually don't care for music in videos, I did enjoy your music selection. Maybe a video that describes your boat would be good to do? Thanks for posting and hope that you post some more.
Thank you Master Blaster. Great that you liked the musik. There is more information about my boat on reykja.ch/en/motiva-39-s-information/ - but yes, it's written no film.
Ocean is a hell in winter months. This boat is much more safer than a loaded cargo ship. Cargo means stress on the hull. Huge waves can cause penetration in the cargo holds. I always tried to work between March and November. But sometimes I failed and screwed.
There must have been very big waves in the north during my crossing. Up to incredible 10 metres. I only got the last bits of it thousands of miles away from their origin.
Thank you Sailor Mart Tiki. May equipment is quite normal, actually, but I do use a gimbal tripod that keeps the horizon stable while the boat is rolling.
Congratulations on your voyage , with the Hydrovane are there not different wind vane sizes of boat tonnage and wind conditions as yours looks small for size of boat.
Thank you Martin. As far as I know there is one system. There are different flags, a shorter and a longer one, but they make no difference on the performance.

Hi interesting story. Would having the main sail up reduce the rolling? I noticed that you do not use the rear sail much is there a reason. Is sailing new to you or have a lot experience before taking off across an ocean.
Hi mike. I started this journey 2020. You find more about me on reykja.ch/en/the-author/ . I think it sails less rolly with two foresails instead of one foresail and the mainsail. I didn't experiment with the midden sail in this condition so far. Maybe it would stabilize - as one comment suggested.

As much as I see myself, standing at bow, wind and rain in my face, I eventually snap out of it with "what are you thinking?"
At the bow there is less thinking and more holding tight. But yes. These are string places on a boat.
