  • Piranhas are famous in the Amazon region. Several hours outside of Iquitos the road ends in Nauta and the real adventure begins as you can head out in the Peruvian Amazon. I had the chance to stay with a local community where you are miles away from reception and the modern world. One of the memorable activities Bala, my guide, and I did was to fish for piranha, the Amazonian fish made famous for its razor sharp teeth. We caught nearly 40 fish over a couple of hours and barbecued them in banana leaves for a tasty Amazonian lunch!

My very first fishing in live was piranha in the Amazon. But only one because the hook came out of his eye, it was terrible to see. I don’t like it. But is was fun. Just with a nylon wire, a hook, some beef, me and my Shipibo shaman friend. I love the Amazon, been there many times and will be back soon.

@@williamthomas8135 I got to Iquitos and did a 3 day deal which included this activity. It wasn’t too bad for the 3 days.
