SinteNørske I do not mean to live for free but at least to rent it to low income people. In N.Y. more than 15 people are living in one bedroom apartment, that is awful!, people diserve a place to live not luxurious but something plain and cozy. Section eight is not good because some people become lazy and leeches but right now everything is so expensive and the wages so low how are they and we are going to afford something.

It kind of reminds me of my grandfather's place in Arizona, except he didn't have an upper level and... it was taken care of for the most part. The plumbing had so much lime in it the build up in the valves destroyed the water pressure. The pipes were so thin that while trying to fix it to sell the house after he passed the pipes crumbled under the pipe wrench. There was an old pickup nobody wanted during the estate sale that we drug home. New tires and a tune up later it's a nice old truck. Engine is tired but it runs and drives well. I think it's the chimney and steel roof that this place has that makes me think of grandpas.
I wouldn't say creepy, so much as messy. While the chimney speaks of history, the house has essentially become a box of garbage. I wonder how much of it was left behind by former residents and how much was dumped there by visitors. If it weren't for that tin roof, I'm willing to bet that house wouldn't have lasted as long as it did. There is some nostalgia in this for me though, as a child I lived for five years in a former mining/logging town that had long since lost its industries. The remaining houses that remained, were mostly built between 1880 and the 1910s, so it was like living in another century at times. What was really cool about it, was that the surrounding forest had reclaimed much of the town, so there were plenty of abandoned houses and cabins to explore. I remember one time, discovering a house in the forest that looked like it had been deserted by the occupants the day before and everything inside was like going back into 1890. It became a regular summertime hiding spot for me.

what I'd like to know is..how does an abandoned how acquire so much junk. every old house seems to be like that way..there is never a cleared out abandoned house..I guess that's what makes them so interesting
"Follow me". You bet I will! Interesting place in a variety of ways. Maybe it's just me but this is one of those houses that's actually a lot bigger that it appears to be at first. My guess is that this house is very old and that there may be logs underneath at least some of the boards of the siding. I may lean too much to the past but I wouldn't be surprised if we're seeing a house from around the Civil War years, at least part of the house, or a house built a little later with same materials and in the same style. Some of those doors and locks look to be from a long time ago. I think we may have a house built in stages here.-- I saw some of the tongue-and-groove walls that seem to be unique to the South and also I noticed the arrangement and placement of the fireplaces at 5:21--5:28 a fireplace at the end of a wall and close to or part of a doorway between rooms, another feature I've seen only in old Southern homes. The stairs maybe gone but possibly what seems to be a closet door somewhere may be the door to a stairway. This is houe is big enough and arranged so that there may have been two sets of stairs. Having staircases off to the side and with doors at the top and bottom is something I've seen in Northern and Southern houses and a design feature that would work today: good for increased security and for keeping warm or cool air in the chosen parts of a house rather than throughout and in areas not being used. Even modest homes of long ago were well planned.
These places always make me wonder and think about the families that lived there. And so many of them look like people just got up and left. I have never left anything when I've moved.

It was beautifully built-look at how square it still is, with solid siding and lovely stone front steps. Someone cared for this house. Though there was a lot of child-type paraphernalia, seeing a crutch and (I think) one of those thick toilet seats that make the potty a "comfort" height makes me think an older person lived there at some point. Perhaps he or she became ill or passed away suddenly and that's why so much "stuff" was left behind. Oh, to know the stories of these old places! If you don't mind my asking, why a possum as a mascot? I ask because, besides my being nosy, since my family raised an abandoned baby 45 years ago-before the age of wildlife rehabilitators-I know possums to be smart, sweet, affectionate, house-breakable little fellows, with really lousy eyesight. I know our little guy was a joy. I hope your association with them is as positive as mine. :)
I was driving along a rural road in New Mexico about 20 years ago and saw a pile of stuff in the ditch, turned out to be perhaps a hundred old dial telephones. Figured that it was the rural telephone company had replaced all their phones and the repair guy just dumped the old ones rather than haul them back.
It seems like these abandoned places all have the same stuff on the floor like it's being moved from place to place. At least no tigers this time only toilets. You were moving pretty quickly was that because you were limited on time or spooked. Loved that picture of the clown hanging on the porch. Great video as usual J.

It was a decent house too with the multiple fireplaces and stone chimneys.
you better visit this place while you still can...that is before the land developers come and build a shopping mall there. It truly pisses me off royally when those evil SOB`s come and destroy the history of an area and turn it into one ugly, concrete jungle. +Tony Verrelli : Agree 110% All those newer places look the same no matter where in the US you are. All alike and totally lacking in any regional character. A friend's parents had bought a few acres of land in the country back in the 70s and built a small house on it and an awesome huge garden. Developers came in the 90s and put up a fugly condo project on top of tons of fill they had trucked in. When the upkeep of the garden got to be too much for her parents, they wanted to sell the extra land. But because of the fill the developers dumped, their extra land had been rezoned as a floodplain, so they are unable to sell it. Their property's assessed value dropped because of the developers.
At 6:38 there looks to be what use to be stairs barely seen in the background... I'm curious what treasure (lost memories) are waiting to be seen again on the upper level... Keep the vids coming
What's really interesting is that you just passed by that amazing fireplace both inside and out without comment but you mention every toilet in sight. It seems to me that what is important and valuable here is the construction and hits historic value not the fing junk/trash.
I'm thinking the 1997 calendar is correct & that's when it was last occupied.. the 2004 calander must of been left there by people that were temporay visitors.. There are so many families that are homeless... it's too bad once a house becomes abandon that the owner of someone with a good heart would want to fix it up for a needy family.. The base looked cracked at the top though. Those sell on ebay..those were great phones. I bet it still works. I love when You find these houses. It's sad that people ransack these abandoned places..and for no good reason.
+Dennis Dorr : I still have an old rotary phone. I believe the WI AT&T used to install them for you and take the old ones away. I gave up my landline years and years ago. I wonder if that great old phone would still work? Things were built to last back then.
+Agent Fungus Yes. If you were in the "Bell System" (now Verizon), the installer used to install the phones. In later years you could go to the "phone center" and pick them up and save the installation fee if you wanted. Hang on to that old phone. I'll bet it still works like new!! I got rid of my landline 2 years ago due to the rising costs. However, there is NOTHING like a landline phone for voice quality and sound. I have several of mine, and would not be surprised if I don't get my landline back in the near future. Cell Phones are very convenient though.
Dennis Dorr : I love cell because I am able to chat for hours long distance, even tho voices sometimes sound like they're coated with glycerin. Just like I love social media so I am able to chat with some Japanese kid about music and Liberace. (I'm a 56 YO American female.) Gotta say something about old stuff, tho. It lasts forever. You actually had to know how to write legibly and use proper spelling, punctuation, and grammar when long distance communication relied upon snail mail. It took a bit of effort. I still love sending cards. They're a spot of cheer and akin to a small present in the mailbox amongst the usual crap mail and bills. Remember when the whole family used to gather around the phone to shout into the receiver at some relative 1000 miles away? Had to keep it short because LD calls were so expensive, like 10 cents a minute! And the reception was of such poor quality. Just like the old TVs. No wonder we were told not to sit so close because parents admonished, "You'll ruin your eyesight." Have to say, tho, the quality of writing and directing has gone so downhill on TV shows and films. There will never be another "Twilight Zone." I remember how cool and hip my ex and I thought it was that we were able to go to the, yup, "Bell System phone center" at the local mall (ha ha) and buy our own "Snoopy" phone. Also when be bought our first VHS player/recorder for about $500 and a VHS of "ST2: The Wrath of Khan" for about $100 bucks. Ah well. Here we are with YT and I'm binge watching "Route 66" on a digital "classic" TV station this weekend. PS: I always remembered that those "phone installers" were big hairy guys in creepy jumpsuits and a big metal case full of wire clippers, needle nose pliers, and other creepy tweezy looking devices to my little girl mind.

Hey Jacob, this was a really creepy one. Underneath all the junk it had an atmosphere and not a nice one. But I do like the configuration of the house and porch. Shame about the staircase. Well done.
I don't know why people think these old houses are creepy. My mom grew up in an old house. Just a 3 room house. No electric, wood stove to heat with wood stove to cook with. Well water, and an out house. Use to be a farm. My grandma remain there until the day she died. But if kids we used to love going to this place. Sat on the front porch or not and see all the lightning bugs, and listening to wipperwills. The house did not scare any of us at all not even as children.
I think the people that lived there 10 years ago were probably living in it while it was dilapidated...they may have been a few generations of a family then maybe they had to leave because of the squalid conditions ( authorities might have been involved) then finally squatters made a home until it was forgotten...
naw, i dont reckon.a little 2 step kitchen ladder would work. a few other explores just hold there camera up high enough to film a space they cant get to.
well...I like this one....being full of trash..but then again - I actually seek out old abandoned buildings to add to my weird "trash" collection...i.e. semi-vintage candy wrappers..chip bags....snack debris basically (if you ever run into any....)
hay bro do your self a favor i would take this video down, if the person who owns this house sees this you can be fined or be charged for trespassing. trust me it happen to me i posted up an old abandoned Hotel that's been abandoned for over 30 years people i know wanted to always do a video of it and i did and posted it. guess what a few months later i got an email from the owners that if i dont take the video down they were going to press charges. even though there was no sign its against the law to go into someone's else's property just giving you a heads up cool video by the way
If you pause the video at 3:47 and look ahead into the other room on the floor as you get to that carpet you see a transparent face and theres another smaller one also not sure if that's an apparition also , if you watch them frame by frame they do change there expressions and move. So ghosts are on the premises squeal like a pig suewee!
Also I think you caught a shadow entity at 6:00 you will see a light blue storage bin and a white laundry basket filled with stuff- in front of that against the wall see the shadow of a little man and it ducks down into the floor at 6:01 under the window sill by the curtain you then see the apparition of a mans face and the shadow hiding underneath Him. The shadow happens very quick slow the video down to watch it very cool.

In later years you could go to the "phone center" and pick them up and save the installation fee if you wanted. Hang on to that old phone. I'll bet it still works like new!! I got rid of my landline 2 years ago due to the rising costs. However, there is NOTHING like a landline phone for voice quality and sound. I have several of mine, and would not be surprised if I don't get my landline back in the near future. Cell Phones are very convenient though.
Dennis Dorr : I love cell because I am able to chat for hours long distance, even tho voices sometimes sound like they're coated with glycerin. Just like I love social media so I am able to chat with some Japanese kid about music and Liberace. (I'm a 56 YO American female.) Gotta say something about old stuff, tho. It lasts forever. You actually had to know how to write legibly and use proper spelling, punctuation, and grammar when long distance communication relied upon snail mail. It took a bit of effort. I still love sending cards. They're a spot of cheer and akin to a small present in the mailbox amongst the usual crap mail and bills.
Remember when the whole family used to gather around the phone to shout into the receiver at some relative 1000 miles away? Had to keep it short because LD calls were so expensive, like 10 cents a minute! And the reception was of such poor quality. Just like the old TVs. No wonder we were told not to sit so close because parents admonished, "You'll ruin your eyesight." Have to say, tho, the quality of writing and directing has gone so downhill on TV shows and films. There will never be another "Twilight Zone."
I remember how cool and hip my ex and I thought it was that we were able to go to the, yup, "Bell System phone center" at the local mall (ha ha) and buy our own "Snoopy" phone. Also when be bought our first VHS player/recorder for about $500 and a VHS of "ST2: The Wrath of Khan" for about $100 bucks.
Ah well. Here we are with YT and I'm binge watching "Route 66" on a digital "classic" TV station this weekend.
PS: I always remembered that those "phone installers" were big hairy guys in creepy jumpsuits and a big metal case full of wire clippers, needle nose pliers, and other creepy tweezy looking devices to my little girl mind.
+Agent Fungus Yep..all truth!! Now these shows are on RUclips. Some phone installers were young and cool looking. It was a great job. Paid well and the benefits were awesome. Memories..oh yes!!

I don't know why people think these old houses are creepy. My mom grew up in an old house. Just a 3 room house. No electric, wood stove to heat with wood stove to cook with. Well water, and an out house. Use to be a farm. My grandma remain there until the day she died. But if kids we used to love going to this place. Sat on the front porch or not and see all the lightning bugs, and listening to wipperwills. The house did not scare any of us at all not even as children.

I think the people that lived there 10 years ago were probably living in it while it was dilapidated...they may have been a few generations of a family then maybe they had to leave because of the squalid conditions ( authorities might have been involved) then finally squatters made a home until it was forgotten...

hay bro do your self a favor i would take this video down, if the person who owns this house sees this you can be fined or be charged for trespassing. trust me it happen to me i posted up an old abandoned Hotel that's been abandoned for over 30 years people i know wanted to always do a video of it and i did and posted it. guess what a few months later i got an email from the owners that if i dont take the video down they were going to press charges. even though there was no sign its against the law to go into someone's else's property just giving you a heads up cool video by the way

If you pause the video at 3:47 and look ahead into the other room on the floor as you get to that carpet you see a transparent face and theres another smaller one also not sure if that's an apparition also , if you watch them frame by frame they do change there expressions and move. So ghosts are on the premises squeal like a pig suewee!
Also I think you caught a shadow entity at 6:00 you will see a light blue storage bin and a white laundry basket filled with stuff- in front of that against the wall see the shadow of a little man and it ducks down into the floor at 6:01 under the window sill by the curtain you then see the apparition of a mans face and the shadow hiding underneath Him. The shadow happens very quick slow the video down to watch it very cool.
