Love how they mentioned the battle between the YES Network and Cablevision numerous times. As a young Yankees fan at the time, 2002 was a rough year cause I couldn't watch the team on TV and had to listen to the games on the radio. it's also funny how the Knicks are still trash.
as a matter of fact it was On a side note not only was this the first MMD on YES but this was also the FIRST DAY the Network was in operation so it wasn't just the first Mike and Mad Dog on YES but apparently the debut of the network as a whole! pretty cool don't ya think
0:14-0:42 Probably the most upbeat theme I heard for the lead in to a simulcast for a radio show. I live in Southern NJ and I gotta tell ya just hearing that 31 seconds or so of audio probably makes me wish that the Philly radio stations down here would step their game up oh yeah and we got Mike and Mike too but they are bland as bland bland and I absolutely hate Cowherd but that's a whole other story again I absolutely loved the theme for the YES intro and now wanna find it on an MP3
This was when the show was GOOD! Mike needs Dog. Russo was okay on weekends by himself but him and Mike were gold together. Mike now is bland and seems to hate everyone that calls the show....
Kind of sad and crazy to see how far Mike has fallen. He looks and struggled to even string together thoughts before he left the air back in the summer.
The man did this until his mid 60’s. Lets see how fluid you are at 65. Not to mention his act wasnt gonna shine as hard in the internet/social media era.
They weren't ever televised before this day, only a radio program. They were among the first sports radio shows to go onto TV. Imus had been on MSNBC for about 6 years prior to this, but this was years before any other sports radio personalities would be on television.
@@RogerBates7 yeah, this was also around the time that Mike and Mike started to be simulcast, although I’m pretty sure it was only on ESPNNews at first. By the time their run ended Mike and Mike was basically a tv show with a radio simulcast, by that point they were even doing the show from one of ESPN’s regular tv studios rather than a radio booth
I love how Mike took off his headphones right before Mad Dog bawled out that famous intro. 0:55
Prefect
😂
Absolutely!
Damn, those early 00s tube computer monitors. Brings me back.
i put this right up there with the moon landing.
Agreed
*size of
LMFAO
This was directed by Stanley Kubrick?
Hugh Jass no. The moon landing was fake.. This was as real as it gets..
Mike: "I'll need a large diet coke for the start of the show."
One of my favorite parts of college was watching this when I got home from class
Mike is in the “powah chair”!
😂😂😂😂😂
Had to them know that Imus sits there.
i miss these guys smh i grew up on a golden era, i love joe and evan but no one was better than these two
I wish their show was happening during our current time, with social media it would have been epic.
Joe's gone now, world's passing by...
Dog is on Sirius
48 year old Francesa, 43 year old Russo. Damn time goes quick.

Historic Moment!
This was sort of like the tail end of the Golden Age of Mike and the Mad Dog.. Interested, well prepared, respectful of each other. I miss those days.
Lol...Rondell White...this was ages ago!! Too funny. Good find bro
I wish we could hear some of Mike's first appearances shows on WFAN from before Mike and the Mad dog
best of mike and mad dog in the evenings were awesome too
as a matter of fact it was
On a side note not only was this the first MMD on YES but this was also the FIRST DAY the Network was in operation so it wasn't just the first Mike and Mad Dog on YES but apparently the debut of the network as a whole!

I’m fairly sure the network debuted the previous day with a Yankee spring training game but I could be wrong

Notice Mike takes off his headphones before Mad Dog's good afternoon intro LOL
Kind of sad and crazy to see how far Mike has fallen. He looks and struggled to even string together thoughts before he left the air back in the summer.
He's fallen? He finished his career pretty damn good, imo.
Not really. He’s still better than everyone else

Hockey? Is this Felger and Mazz up in Boston?
Dressed nice, Mike worried about trash lying around. That didn't last long for the simulcast!
Chris didn’t say “how r u today!!!!”.
Were Mike and the Mad Dog on MSG until they moved to YES Network?
