Fantastic analysis, I teach all of my beginners to take a unit-turn "backswing" instead of dropping first. It actually happens more on the forehand side from what I see with my students, fixing this problem solves a lot of contact point and late contact problems
seems like a comparison of "pendulum bh" vs. "C swing bh"? personal i try to have both... the C when i'm in a neutral/offensive baseline rally, where i want to generate my own rhs (eg. high & heavy shots)... but also use the shorter/buntier/flatter pendulum bh for things like RoS, on-the-rise shots - generally any shot where i want to use the incoming pace of my opponent as my source of power... from a feel standpoint, i actually think the pendulum bh is simpler... as you're just pivoting from the shoulders... where the C feel more complicated when timing when the left arm "takes over"... thoughts?
The "pendulum" is where you take the racket down first. When the ball is coming fast, you don't have time, etc, or there's enough power supplied, players will just drop the racket head into the slot (or get it down). So what you are "feeling" makes sense!
Hello. One of the main differences is that from the unit turn Agassi will just turn with the racket head high. It's just one less moving part. His racket does open a little at the bottom of the swing... but he's AA. And he can really hit that ball well! Making a video depends on being able to get permission to use footage. Thanks!
I have asked for permission from some other youtube channels to use their footage. Hope to make more videos in the coming months. Thanks for subscribing to my lead magnet as well! 👊🏾
Subbed. I never like how rigid Hewitt's arms looked in the take back phase. Roddick too was rigid. The player with teh contrasting swing in this video had his elbows bent - I think that is more fluid, natural. What do you think? What is the advantage of each style?
Thanks for the sub! If you keep your elbows slightly bent and relaxed it helps the racket fall into the slot with the arms straight-ish-which is essential to hitting the ball well
@@BeforeandAfterTennis what do you think? I believe you ca generate more power with a flexed arm - never understood the reason for Hewitt "straight arm"
@@user-jv9qz2bu1r Actually, the arms actually straighten out a little bit as the racket falls into the slot. The arms are levers and swing away and out from the body.
Good lesson! great teaching! I was just going to ask you if you ever worked with Steve Smith haha I hear his stuff or Vic Braden's Thanks Coach 🙏 appreciate Excellent 👍
I have never worked with Steve Smith! I don't want to misrepresent myself. I had the fortune of spending maybe two months doing sessions with him and then shadowing him for a bit. All I have learnt, I have picked up from Braden's book, Steve, and Andy Fitzell. And then I am also familiar with a lot of the research and literature around various tennis strokes and concepts. From researchers around the world. I'll make a video on my sources soon. It's on the (long) list. Please like and sub if you enjoyed. Goes a long way 👍🏼
@@BeforeandAfterTennisno worries that's great! I recognized the teaching right away I did enjoy and subscribed, good luck with your channel! Thanks again 🙏
Nalbandian had a low-high but did a lot of the other stuff extremely well. Would I tell Nalbandian to change at the peak of his career? No. I cover that in the vid! But if you're a club/rec player struggling with your backhand then I would suggest it :)
Irrelevant. His forehand has to be very loopy because he is on western grip There is no western on his backhand he is just straighten his arm and swing

Thank you! Yes, it's best to remove all the extra movements. Agree that it happens on the forehand as well, especially with beginners!

Thanks for the video coach!
It’s my pleasure. Hope it was helpful. Good luck with your practice!
Hey man great insight can you please do a video of how Agassi hits his backhand please 🙏

Man ok thanks for your take I guess he keeps the strings towards the ball like you teach

Good one.

You need to anaylse to nalbandian the greatest double hander of all time

It’s not perfect but simple is better in tennis. And this is one of the simplest backhands.
But it isn't simple. Rather, he has four parts on the swings as opposed to three. It could be simpler if he just had three parts!
Irrelevant. His forehand has to be very loopy because he is on western grip
There is no western on his backhand he is just straighten his arm and swing
Hi there. What is irrelevant? Thanks
