The commentators themselves also referred to this team as the “Springboks” on various occasions. Most of these players don’t even play in the URC, they play in the 2nd tier national league. Why this team is not the absolute best “B” team that South Africa can field is a real shame.

They should really do more exhibition games like this between club teams and select/ international teams, they’re fun, attract a big crowd, and most importantly they’re actually a historically (fairly regularly played) part of the sport overall, which for some reason we haven’t seen utilised much in recent years
Whatever the comments below offer in the way of bile and vitriol, the fact is that Bristol were great and the South Africans ( effectively a third or 4th XV) were outclassed. It speaks volumes about the quality of the Gallagher Premiership, too. And the fact that that league is liberally peppered with South African players - most of whom will never play for their country.

Allow me as a South African to say my piece. I'm horrified at the lack of accountability in the SA setup. Rassie, you're an embarrassment! Even if 1 or 2 of your points are valid, you and your management team and the players are leaving too much to 'chance'... there's a chance we'll get a bad call, there's a chance we'll kick a penalty, a chance we'll get a card. You need to play to win by 20 points so that in the event of a few borderline calls you win by 5. That's how teams of the caliber of France, New Zealand, Australia and England play. If they pull it off you'll get hammered by 35 points or lose by 8 if you don't. Every player does his part and understands. Stop making excuses and step up to the plate. We're mediocre in every aspect. Willie has been crap since 2014 and waiting hoping he's going to fire one day, some day again is just stupid. I'd rather play with 14 men quite frankly. He's barely a f...en cheerleader on the field. Hopeless!! There are a dozen players better and if you need his experience make him a consultant... but we need players who can step up and change the game. Currently Siya isn't even anything special, certainly not a captain in the mold of Michael Hooper who leads from the front. Siya pussy's out of every challenge on the tackled player. He stands off for 79 mins. If you don't have commitment from 15x players you're dead in the water. We lose because we're shit!! A few moments of individual brilliance keeps us in the game and on the scoreboard. We need to do better, simple, unapologetically just do BETTER..!

He's busy prepping the video as I write this. The main reason that the SA team lost was because one of the ball boys threw the ball back to the South African hooker too hard and hurt his thumb. The un-fairness of it all..... Why is everyone out to get the poor Boks. Bristol Bears are second last in the Premiership table at the moment. This was an awful performance by the South Africans. The last try embellished what was a rather dismal performance. Well done Bristol !

Last weekend this team was called a invitation XV, this week the Springbok A Team who know next week they will be the RWC official squad and the week after the National basketball team. I can send up school teams like Paul Roos, Sacs and Glenwood and they would beat the bears. These are just to make the NH teams feel good about themselves before the RWC comes south AGAIN where it belongs.

Didn't expect much from the boys given they have only had 10 days together as the SA A side. I definitely was not expecting anything from them, only testing who could fit for the boks in future. Bristol didn't amaze it was what it was. A run to keep players familiar with the bok setup and style. People are clearly over hyping these loses because it's SA. But hey that shows you who people really think is no.1 team ever!!!

I'll be honest (sorry Bristol) neither had I. I had to look them up, they were the only premiership club that I genuinely had not heard of before. No dis-respect to them mind. They are in the premiership which is packed with high-quality rugby teams. They are languishing in second last place, just above London Irish at the moment which tells me that they are not doing too well. So, I don't think this result would have been expected. By them or SA. If SA are playing mind games then they are doing a very good job of pretending to be crap and having very little depth leading up to next years world cup. Munster are having a terrible season also and they spanked this team last week also.

If you lose a game or two, and learn from that experience, you will become a better player. If you are winning all games, there is not much education for the day when it will actually count.
