Finally! This is the best video tutorial on basic poker rules. I was looking for hours on the net and no other video explanes how to bet. Thank You soo much!!!
There are several components to how to play poker games. One plan I discovered that successfully combines these is the card crusher fixer (check it out on google) definately the most useful guide that I have ever seen. look at the interesting information .
Was inspired to get a poker set after finding out I enjoyed playing it on RDR2. Have always thought I disliked card games until now. Only person I have to play with is my kid at the moment though.
+thegremlinsmurf so in the bigger games and you wish to raise at any stage of the game you would have to double the current bet even if it was like 15k?? Also this prob sounds stupid but on the first bet if the player after the big blind was to call instead of raise would the small blind then have to match the bet or does it go strait to the flop even tho the small blind has only half as much money in as the rest of the players??
verceti23 if ur still wondering the small blind would have to call the remainder of what the big blind paid to go to the table or fold his half of chips or he would match the raise of the guy that raised left of the big blind if he did raise instead of call
For No Limit Hold Em, each raise must be at least double the previous bet or raise not double the bet or raise that was last put in. For example Player A bets 100, player B raises to 700 which is a 600 raise. Player C can now either call the 700 raise to a minimum of at least 1300 or more (600 more than previous) or more or fold. Notice it is not 700 more but 600 more.
Andrew Wolfinden this is worded weird player C could either call the 600 raise matching the 700 or he could re-raise to 1300 but wouldn’t have to call 1300 from a 600 raise of player B

this video was perfect for teaching my cousins how to play on Christmas eve hahaha. we had a blast. even those who never played hit the ground running from the first round. this is such a magnificently elegant game, and very very well explained in this video.

So can you not check in the first betting round before the flop, because the small and big blinds force everyone to make bets, raise or call, unless you want to fold obviously?
At a casino I could theoretically get in at a table and sit down at the right seat at the right time and see my cards for free. Then either play or fold. As the blind works it’s way back to me I could get up and leave the hand before that. And avoid paying a big or small blind. I saw a guy do that at Rocky Gap casino in Cumberland Maryland. At the time I didn’t think too much about it but it was smart of him. It was only $10 / $20 on the blinds, with the average pot between 50 -$ 120
"To raise you have to double the amount of the bet previously" - As you can learn on my youtube channel, this statement is wrong and misleading. Let's walk through it to see how it is wrong. If the first player raises to $20 as illustrated, and the next player wants to raise, their raise amount would have to be $40 according to this statement. But in reality, the minimum raise amount for the next player would be $30 total. That's because the amount a person can raise is always the call amount plus the previous raise amount. In this case, the previous raise amount was $10, so the player can raise by $10.
Thank you so much for your help! Brilliant video! Whenever you took out the flop, turn and river, you 'burned' a card. Is this necessary and what that is the purpose of this?
Hi, how is it decided when a round ends, it seems like it’s not when everyone has had one go, is it when everyone has matched the highest bet ? Please explain :)
This was a great video. Thank you so much for being so clear. I just have one wuestion, this is probably a bit stupid though does the dealer participate in the game or do they just have a sorta break. This is another stupid one though does the dealer actually deal the cards? The only reason I was wonderig that was as you were standing in the middle bit there not where the dealer was
You should probably actually play the game if you really don't get it. Deal out cards and play out the game like there are other people there. Or, if you can, just play with other people.
@@ReubenSempleJones I've been playing it in red dead and I get the rules but I have mainly been struggling with figuring out what combination of cards is good
@@billiebimbam911 I meant playing with real people who can explain the game. Or you can just look up the poker combinations online. Trust me poker in Far Cry 3 which I've played recently is alot different to playing it in real life.
In the Flop round or second round or however you call it, do you then have to match the bet of the person to your right when you call? And do you have to double his bet as well if you raise?
Kim Brodersen you always have to match the highest bet in the round if you want to call, and a raise would have to be at least double again yes. Same rules apply on turn and river
2 questions - in that last round for example, after the river was revealed, can the first player have decided to fold then? Or did they have to check or ... what was the other option - if they wanted to bet more did it have to minimum match what was in the pot already? Other question , how is it decided what the other colour chips are worth? Is it the black is 10x the big blind? Or...?
The small blind. First betting round. If calling. And they initially had a$5 chip in. In the example in this video. When The small blind calls the $20 does the small blind matches by adding to exactly $20? So $5 plus $15 so everyone is the same? If everyone does the same as the big blind first betting round with no raise? Does small blind have to match?
Does anyone know what happens if you enter a game with only one chip? Or if you only have say four chips and then go all in, does everyone else have to go all in as well or just match your four chips? Thanks.
ok so if the Big Blind is 100 dollars and you only have 40 dollars then you have to go all-in and everybody else must call the Big Blind. now you went all-in and better pray that you have a good hand. If you're the big blind yourself and don't have enough money then you have to go all-in but i don't know what the other players have to do, either call your bet or bet the amount the big blind would have to bet
So does the 'Big Blind' always have to bet twice as much as the 'Small Blind'? Why not just have the Small Blind bet the actual amount? And can you just check without adding anything to the pot? Is there any down side? I'm sorry if these are stupid questions.
Big Blind is usually double Small Blind. You cannot check if you sit in a "blind" position because the blinds are forced bets. You can only check if there have been no bets placed that round. The downsides are that your opponents may think you do not have a strong hand.
The blinds are to stimulate betting, without blinds, the games would take 5x as long because anyone can fold on any hand before any chips come out. With forced blinds, youre already in for a small amount, makes you less likely to muck your cards right off the bat, and specifically to answer your question, the small blind is their so that you can still fold pre flop without taking as much of a loss as the big blind
if no one has raised the big blind can check and the sb can complete the full amount or fold, if there was a raise both sb and bb can fold or call (or reraise)
You can't check if someone before you has bet. You must bet or fold. Under some rules you have to bet or get out when it's our turn even if you are the person first in the rotation. Where I play the first in rotation can check.

I have a doubt every new game starts, so the dealer's left one always has a small blind that every new game has a position change.

If you fold as the big blind or the small blind does your compulsery bet disappear or does it stay?
Every time I've played it stays. The blinds make it so there's at least a minimum pot for somebody to win if everybody (except one) folds.
thank u for explaining clearly
Hi, how is it decided when a round ends, it seems like it’s not when everyone has had one go, is it when everyone has matched the highest bet ? Please explain :)
