My E38 Restoration - Episode 10: Underbody & Rear Axle: Part 1

After many months i finally got into restoration of my E38 again. and the hardest and most time consuming part too, so this will be multiple episodes over multiple weeks. In this episode i removed the exhaust, gas tank, driveshaft, all the heatshields, cleaned up everything, and cleaned up the middle section of underbody, which was very dirty, but now looks fantastic. Really happy with the condition the car is in so far, nothing major, so i am moving on with the other things, and in next video i am going to sort out the whole rear axle/subframe.

Thank you very much, that means a lot :-) You should go for it, i am doing this stuff first time ever too, and have to say, working on the e38 is pretty great, it all makes sense how its put together. and also in Brazil i dont think you have much snow and salty roads, so no rust, rusty bolts, nothing, right? :-) that is a big bonus

Hah yea, i have some small experience with fixing my cars here and there over the years, but this project is way bigger, and I never done anything even close to it :-)
no worries, you'll do great i am sure :-) especially if you have the service manual, should go smooth.. just use the correct tools :-D

That's really cool! I'll use your videos as examples and reference, thank you for making them so detailed. Both of your e38s are really nice! Mine is mechanically good, but interior trim and some eletronics are a little rough. It needs a great deal of work overall, the little stuff add up, plus parts are really really expensive here.

Thank you very much! :-) I actually only have one E38, the silver one. the dark blue was a customer, that i did complete detailing job on :-)
I hear ya, I think every E38 has a little electronics issue here and there :-D I need to source some modules myself too, lately the headunit was cutting off for no reason :-D you should also check out (if you didnt yet) the M539 restorations channel, sreten is a beast, and its the best BMW channel out there. he did an E38 too few years back, valuable info there too (and it was V12 too like yours)
