- You watched Doug DeMuro review a mint example of BMW E38 750iL. Here's how a neglected one looks like and what it takes to bring it back to the condition it once was.

I will blame RUclips not to have recommended me this channel earlier, this is amazing. Proper work ethic, no detail is overlooked. Amazing.
exactly ive been binge watching this. it puts me to sleep which in this case is a compliment. puts my mind at ease. im in the market for an 8 series or any v12 this particular car looks like one id see in a car lot in the hood. desert climates are harsh on car interiors lol. as you can see here.
totally agree with you
I agree, having this recommended to me, is like striking gold!
I guess you would blame RUclips for the pandemic too.
@@TrailVapor I was being sarcastic to blame an algorithm that did not do its job.
Feels like yesterday watching this back in 2020 during covid lockdown in Greece.
Sreten if you ever see this, just think of the impact you did in the European car community.
Thank you Sreten.
I remember when I accidently stumbled upon this video a couple of years back. After watching the intro I was instantly hooked up. Ever since have been waiting being watching Sreten's passion and skills grow to become one of the most respected BMW restorer around. Thank you for sharing your story here with us!
Oh my goodness... I am here in Dubai and was gonna check that car out when it was up for sale. Interesting to see where it ended up... lol...
@These Violent Delights Have Violent Ends stfu idiot
@These Violent Delights Have Violent Ends GTFO
Cocaine table...I’m dying😂
This is an awesome channel and please keep the videos coming on the E38, I’m hooked
Thank you!
when he said that, i scrolled down lol
Thats how they are named by e38 community ✌️ also the lights on a c pillars are named “porn ligts”
It's amazing that this 750iL has travelled from Germany (?) to Japan, to Dubai, brought back (?) to Germany, then ended up in UK
I think E38 750iL is the best looking car ever made, comfort + sport combined :)
Not to rain on ur parade but it’s really not that sporty comfort luxury smooth ride power when u need it yes best and nicest. Car ever made yes
Others have said it, but it bears repeating; a commitment to detail I have yet to see elsewhere in car restoration videos, a dry sense of humor, and a clean, professional editing with nothing superfluous are why I love this channel.
I love this guy’s confidence and offhand manner while being completely competent.
This has immediately become favorite car restoration channel.
Easily lol
Man I got an 740i US Spec.... and was hoping someone had made a video on how to overhaul the front and rear suspension items.... thx for doing so!! Your video of Germany brings back many memories of my Army days there. Was stationed at Mainz-Finthen Army Army Airfield back in the late 70’s to 85. I fell in love with BMW’s ever since I had my first trip down the autobahn.... had a few Bimmers there I wished I could of imported back stateside... but that’s another story. My 740i is Silver on black interior as well ..... but doesn’t have to travel history as yours does.... I got mines from Las Vegas when I seen it on car lot and just had to have it.... so I purchased it and drove back home to Topeka,KS. That was in 2010.... again thx for sharing your videos man.... looking forward to you next ones!!! Auf Wiedersehen!!!🇺🇸🇩🇪
Nitto Invo, a classic. Can recognize that tread pattern from anywhere.
Yea haha - they were on my 335i - not a bad tire tbh
@@thatmatty231guy haha I had them on my E92 335i as well!
Sreten - I am an E39 devotee and subscriber from Australia, now playing catch-up on your amazing video series. Thank you. Looking at the state of the 750i (door panels, trim, etc) on arrival from Dubai it reminds me of the condition of my much-loved 1996 E39 528i that I could not part with when my family and I emigrated from Ireland. So eventually I imported it to Australia. Customs ripped every panel off looking for the cocaine they assumed I was importing (and which you mention brilliantly in passing about the function of the rear tray!🤣). I am sure your 750i did not leave Dubai looking (and smelling) like this. My own 528i was in a sorry state on arrival at my new home in Australia (without the glue smell and ruined roof liner, thankfully!) which took me months to remedy. It’s a pity that we have no redress against Customs. Yes, the war against drugs is important, but what about our beautiful classic cars....😮🤪? Thanks again for your fantastic videos.
Hello Sreten!
I'm sitting for already 5 min and thinking about what to comment. As a fellow BMW enthusiast (e39 540i MT) and DIY guy I think it's amazing how you found just the right balance between repair manual, functional description and funny editing. And even for 45 min long videos! I tip my imaginery hat for that!
And I love the way you found an air leakage using the fog machine. I'm going to buy one, too.
Another thing I take away from your videos is how important good tools are.
Thank you for your videos and I hope there are a lot more to come!
Just discovered your channel thru project marseille and am already a huge fan. I saw that you did a Project Dubai, and was intrigued as I live in Dubai. I spat my drink outb when you opened the Dubizzle picture as these pics were taken on my street!!!. Small world Absolutely crazy
13:45 that jack stand is holding for its dear life lol
Now binge watching from the first video again!
Just re watched this series…. You should be proud of your production improvements. Epic content.
Time to rewatch project Dubai... again.
Im 4 days at home and im watching from the beginning of this amezing channel...i just love it😊
Nice vid! Refreshing to watch a channel about originality and proper restoration.
Thanks! :)
Thank you!
Congratulations. I would prefer to take a holiday to watch all your videos in peace. Now I found out that in the beginning you didn't even have a crane. Great respect from me and greetings from Munich.
I just bought a E38 740i EURO spec so I will rewatch all this entire series for restoring mine :)
back after the most recent shop video and i didnt realize it when i first watched project dubai that it was the first of the actual channel! you have come a long way in your production and presenting in a very short time, for sure this has become one of my favorite youtube channels. Keep up the good work, im gonna meander through your old videos!
So Sreten, i decided to go back in time to look at your original content. My, how you have grown and improved but you can see the beginnings of your well thought out, and enjoyable content. Love the growth of the Dojo as well. Well done my friend and keep up the good work.
A legend was born with this video....
I am a proud bmw owner . I had the e39 m5 now the f10 M5. German engineering at its best.
Awesome video . Keep up the good honest work .
Thank you!
If it comes to getting the stink out of a car - nothing beats ozone generators! I was a bit sceptical at first but then had a car that was just plain horrible and after 20 minutes of ozone treatment the only smell was ozone itself and it kept it that way. Only problem is, the car needs to be dry inside - which probably isn't a problem your end - but here in the UK you have to catch it on one of the two days of the year when it's not raining, dry it and do it. But really effective, managed to get a lot of stinking cars back to life. And it kills all germs, bacteria, fungi and mold mites (like dust mites) tiny spider-like creatures here in the UK that live in moist conditions - so practically everywhere - common inside cars, laptops, etc. Lovely. Great video, love the car.
If you and your twin brother actually got on, you could work on these cars together and get the work done twice as fast. Seriously though, great work, great vids and enjoyable sense of humour. Opposable thumbs up.
Great channel, as a fan of older BMW's, it's so great to see them being restored!
Keep it up!
I'm getting kinda scared here :) Why is this thing falling apart like that? My parents had a 5er from new for 16 years and nothing like that ever happened...
Baerchenization Probably neglect and not taking care of it. It’s also traveled from Japan to Dubai and now to Germany. That’s a long way to go. An older 1 owner car can end up totally different than something like this that has had many many owners.
@@Blox282 I was wondering how did a left steer make it to Japan? They are so anal with their import and registration policies...
Just purchased an E38 750iL. May the journey begin!
I am actually rewatching all videos three times in row already :) Absolutely love.
Rewatching in 2024 amazing car repair content
THE MOST BEAUTIFUL SEDAN EVER DESIGNED.
I'm loving the videos so far! So much that I'm binge watching all of them now that I discovered your channel.
Please keep more coming! I love the humor, cursing and the video editing. It's very pleasing!
Now being a fresh BMW owner, this will inevitably get my addiction going.
Thank you!
Great video, I've just started my own restoration of a pre facelift 750iL so will watch this with great interest. Subscribed 👍
Thank you!
I learn the Most from this guy....BMW for life
Not one but three beautiful BMW from the hallo period of BMW production history to date...I luv this channel, absolute dynamite of information and experience, how many years have you been restoring these beautiful cars, it really shows, and your IT background makes you understand the need for OEM and detail in your work and specification...there is no middle ground... just right or wrong... and I respect that.
I’m restoring a 730i my self i’m loving your content man !
Thank you! Keep up at it!
Love BMW's and great to watch them being brought back to life with such care, great channel!
This is the best looking BMW ever. Great channel btw.
So beautiful. That startup on the truck sounded so amazing. I love it.
14:30 rear break pads they are kaupput 😂
Just found this channel and subbed! Excited!!!
The good ol days of this channel! Still watching in 2022
Your taste in BMW is spot on. Loving the videos.
I have watched all of your videos in two nights. Amazing content!
My new favorite classic BMW channel!
Not Ali baba dude. Al balawi, and thats my showroom 😂 we sold this car ages ago to an arab, instantly recognized my showroom name and my fathers contact. This car was mint when we sold it, sadly the owner didnt keep it that way. Good to see this
Yeah, sorry about that, just goofing around. 😁 That's cool! Do you remember what year you sold it?
Hahaa, no offense taken, I'll ask my father about it. We've sold plenty of these and s600 v12s in mint around the 2000-2008 mark. Will provide specifics. Mind sharing your email?
I still have some left, some with our partner in germany as well, lots of 7 series and 8 series
@@M539Restorations Excuse my excitement btw, I'll watch all the parts and see the end result of what you've done with the car. Small world
E38 ... V12, probably the most perfect Engine ever produced by the BMW for such cars.. I have one. with all the other paraphernalia like Double Glazed Windows with mesh curtains ...With the Sports button pressed, it is a monster of a car to control. I have slightly low profile tyres in the front for stability taking corners and curves at high speed...yes, it is a great car to own and drive ...
Reassembled by the customs officers after being pulled apart while searching for drugs.
Literally. No other explanation for this kind of shitty condition of interior. Luckily they haven't checked seats with knives 🤣
@@mryopa89 I thought it just melted in the desert heat
Dude, you are awesome. I’m no mechanic myself but I know a thing or two about repairs just by listening and watching my mechanic work on my cars through the years. I subscribed to you channel!
the little 2002 looks sick :D
I have been following your videos since last night. I watches 4-5 videos straight. You are the best mechanic ever I seen. Very skillful. I am keep watching even though I do not have any BMW currently. I am really enjoyed to watching your channel. Thank you for your wonderful videos.
Great job plus having the right tools makes a big difference 👍🏽
I literally looovveeeee this guy!!! his videos have informed me about my m73 engine on my 750 iL!!!!! But I have so many questions and things to show him
And I’m here again for the 5th time 😆 Just waiting for the next part of project raleigh, love how your style has stayed the same and not turned too cringey or commercial, big fan!
That is a really nice find, subscribed to your channel, keep posting ✌🏻
Someone obviously has to be the best. You definitely are Sreten. Love every second of your videos. 3rd time watching Project Dubai, Project Chicago done up-until now 4 times and pretty sure that`s not it.....
I thoroughly enjoy watching your videos your comments are funny and your work detail is to the point you do not overemphasize too much on any particular area thus making your videos enjoyable and not boring you do a fantastic job please keep the videos coming I will continue watching them as I am a BMW enthusiast thanks again
Thank you!
I have to say, thanks for washing the car 'before' working on it. I remember fuming when watching B is for Build and his Lambo project, wanting him to at least clean the car a bit so it would not bother me in every shot.
Anyway, OCD thanks from Gig Harbor.
Thanks for the inspiration and keep on trucking !
love your channel. recent subscriber. i do talk to my projects while working on them. keeps me focused. and you actually do a damn near happy dance when car starts for first time ( seen in pretty much all starts
This channel is great and brings back childhood memories as my uncle used to own a 750iL as well s an 850i
Thanks for creating and sharing this outstanding content. Schöne Grüße!
That's a great collection! Cheers
Wonderful heartwarming video as usual. The attention to every small detail really shows and I'm only on the first video of seven. I also congratulate you on having the patience of a saint.
P.S I doubt anyone else would've gotten that wheel off without heating it with an acetylene lamp or maybe using WD-40.
Your knowlege is just stunning. RESPECT
13:40, the famous alloy-to-steel corrosion. I've had this on a few cars, applying anti-seize usually prevents it.
AS1500 as recommended by BMW in salty regions ^^
Best narrated video on youtube.. im not really a bmw fan tbh but dam the videos are entertaining and the knowledge is superb thank you 👊👊👊👌👌👌👌
Honey? Oh my gawd! Im dying here!
Amazing video and car, man do i want an E38.

GREAT Video mate. I have an E38 740i and I just started my own channel too where I show people the work I have done on the m62tu engine and other bits and pieces.
Thank you for this video, I will subscribe and show my support to your channel as I know how hard it is and how good the feeling is when someone appreciates your work.

Found your channel through the last part of this series, kinda shocking to see the state the car was in originally. Really cool restoration!

One of BMWs best looking cars ever!
This body style 7 series still looks amazing today..I love it
Excellent first video especially enjoyed the humour will be subscribing. Who said the Germans don't know how to laugh😂😂
Hey, just found your film by chance. Very well made & informative, thanks. I live in Dubai (for 20 yrs, most people here are just passing-through for a year or two) so know the local car scene fairly well. You were quite ballsy for buying a car off dubizzle remote control... no matter how they're presented most cars on there are sold by traders of some nature. Anyways sounds like it turned-out OK so far & you know your stuff. Did the Dubai garage that did the PPI pick-up most of the faults you mentioned? Look forward to more films. Cheers :-)
Thanks! I like to gamble sometimes :) The seller was Danish Fly Emirates pilot, seemed like a nice guy, but not a car guy. They found most of the stuff and were very helpful, basically I just needed someone to verify the body didn't have major damage and engine and tranny are fine. It's about what I expected with the bonus of paint being original.
@@M539RestorationsAwesome! Would you also please mention how much you paid for it?
Really curious to find out!
You could have also tried out dubicars.com
It's a pleasure browsing through, they've got stuff that you won't come across in Dubizzle too!
Oh wow, good to know and thanks for the insight. Generally, would you trust buying off that site, site-unseen? Trying to import a car into Canada...
@@onecoolstorybro No, in short. Buying sight unseen is risky full stop. Add the limited info you see on Dubizzle & the fact that most sellers are traders just increased the risk. Adverts located in Al Awir / Ras Al Khor just increased the risk again... Even PPI at a main agency dealer here isn't 100%, but better than nothing.
Loving the metro in the background
Absolutely awesome video 👌
Thank you!
Awesome video, can’t wait to see what’s going to happen next with this rare beast 😊
Danke, danke! :)
Another great video, you have brilliant skills to restore so much damage! I am guessing that the interior was cooked in the desert heat?
I saw the BMW 2002 and subscribed.
Nice man, congrats on the video!!
Thanks, Adan!
