Yuja Wang - applauses and encore Gluck Melody after Bartok 2 - Roma

Music starts at 1:30 - Yuja Wang plays the first encore, Gluck-Sgambati's Melody, in Rome (Auditorium Parco della Musica) after Bartok's 2nd piano concerto with Antonio Pappano and the Santa Cecilia National Orchestra (26/11/2011).

Obviously it is difficult to applaud and to film simultaneously.

This piece, is part of her latest album, "Fantasia." I think perhaps the best of her 4 DG albums. One thing I've noticed is that there appears to be nothing tentative in her playing. You can quibble about tempos and interpretation but always she is where she should be. I'm not certain Fox is the right mascot, for temperament I would go for Lioness, for speed Cheetah.

This is very fine, even with poor sound. It is not really Sgambati's arrangement here, but an adaptation of her own; in fact most pianists modify Sgambati as he is rather basic! What a balm after the excitement & bustle of Bartok!

While I am not fooled by all the troll posts you flourish wherever on Yuja, I'm sure Brazil will again produce a young pianist you can obsess about...don't lose heart...

Good grief! Who is the 'fairy' with the steam driven camera. Don't insult such talent as Yuja Wang with awful camera handling.
