  • This car was too nice to drive! Everytime I took it out I was worried that it would get hit, or scratched, or stolen.
I loved it, but eventually sold it to a nice guy in Oklahoma. He still sends me updates from time to time!

Pretty neat. I had a 68 bug that I bought in college for 400 bucks. That was in 1978.

Those were the days. In the late 80's I bought many Beetles and Busses for less than $100 in running but rough shape. Crazy to see the prices now.

I have owned 3 VW Bugs over a period of about 15 years, but none of them was a Super Beetle. I had a '69, a '70, and a '72. The '69 was basically just a cruiser, something to enjoy driving around in. The '70 was a full blown drag race car. $$$$ of Gene Berg parts. The '72 was a hot rod, 1776 engine, dual Webers, and a bunch of other stuff. I finally had to give up VWs. I live near Phoenix, AZ, and the temperatures during the summer average 110-112 degrees F. I just turned 65, and have some medical issues. I have to have A/C during our long hot summers. And there is just no way to put A/C in an air cooled VW. You have to run them really rich in the summer just to keep them from melting down. Literally rich to the point of fouling plugs.

I've owned a few as well, but the heat here isn't as bad for sure. Elevation? Well, that's a big problem instead. Different jets and a lot of power loss up here.

I agree, I love the old muscle cars but honestly and I have heard you state this in the past, I could never afford anything like that. An old Datsun, Cavalier or mini Toyota truck is more my speed! Thanks for sharing.

Right? I'd love to play with an old Datsun 510 Pickup, or an original Mazda truck. Way more fun to have than a Mustang.

Very nice. How about the old Plymouth duster? That's a forgotten one. A fair amount of people would like to forget about it but not me. Cheers brother

Love the idea! I was toying with fixing up a Dodge Omni 024 (the two door) they apparently made a version with Detomaso badging!

Eric, that was a very nice Bug. For future reference, where did you purchase the seats?
