is there any way you can tell me what the part numbers of the 3 stink tools you used in this video. I have 7 saws that need to be rebuilt and having them would make it easier on my budget.
Thanks for showing the CORRECT WAY to repair a Stihl chainsaw using the CORRECT TOOLS, just as the Workshop Manual tells you to do the job. The problem with DIY guys like Pant Siolis is they have no idea how to do a job correctly and wonder why their chainsaws bugger up.
looks like a snapon cts561 driver, what did the crankcase tool cost? i have quite a few stihl projects requiring the cases to be split, thanks for the video by the way, it was definitely beneficial for me.
one other question. do you put 1184 on the pins when you put them in. most seem to in order to keep the rear on from coming out and screwing up the clutch and oil pump.
RockIslandguy typically, it’s not worth it. There are instances where it does make sense however. There are also cheaper tools available than the one in the video. But you will still invest a ton of time researching and gathering tools/parts. For an experienced tech, this is a relatively quick procedure. if all you need to replace are the crank bearings, you won’t be out a lot for parts, but if the crank itself or the crankcase needs to be replaced, I’d give serious consideration to a replacement saw.
Hi Friend is it possible to provide the tump print of the fly wheel puller round plate so that I reproduce for my personal use rest I can make only the round plate holes
John Clarke good catch! I usually will drive them in once the case halves are fully seated and the screws are just finger tight. Once they are in, I will do the final torque on the case screws.
I made one of these tools quite easily using steel pipe .threaded rod and a few nuts . Cheaper than using stihl tools

I don't remember what the crankcase splitter cost. In the neighborhood of $100-120
flywheel goes off first, specially if you're using air tools or battery powered tools.
flywheel key may shear. :)
...what kind of battery driver are you using there? Lookiing for one and wondering how you like it
Snap-on CTS561. Love it, been a good tool for over 10 years now. There are stronger tools out there but my 561 is still so small and compact.
I want to buy this tool, does it come separately or in a set?

John Clarke I have always just put them in place with no adhesive.
Do all the parts and tool cost surpass the price of a new saw? Wondering if going through this much effort is worth the money. Thank you

what about your alignment Pins? did you put them in the flywheel side before you pulled the pro side In? or, we're you going to drive them in, later?

Or you can heat the bearing and use a knock off
