I restored my brother's years back for xmas so he could show his kids 1 day. drove it out under tree and he said 'that cleaned up well'. before i could reply both our parents said 'no you dont understand...'. even period correct radio gear, period servo saver mod, his original radio channel, and above all stripping his original body with nitro fuel back down to clear and then repainting his childhood paint scheme back on it. Quite proud of that. Shocking they haven't rereleased this. -U10
What a great restoration. Especially you repaired the broken chassis. There are other guys on the vintage scene who buys only new parts, and do as Toilette restoration. This work is exceptional. And your body painting skills are amazing.
If you had challenged me to a RC monster truck race in the 80's this would be my weapon of choice, best balanced for that era and went to next level with a hot motor and esc, I drove them all, monster Beetle, Mauri Bear, Double dare or Big Boss, owned a Blackfoot, lunchbox, Clod and Nitro Brute (NB was junk, no comparison against BB). I do hope we get a Big Brute reissue,... So i can correct my mistake of never owning one, awesome job on your restoration, she's a beauty. congratulations.
I got one of these back in the late 80s. Still have it at my parents' place. Unfortunately, I was only 9 or 10 at the time, and putting the thing together was way beyond me! And nobody would help, either, so my Big Brute was never finished. I never got to drive it. And I still regret it.
I remember this rc truck for reading the tower hobbies catalog back in the day. I had a super blackfoot and sold it to a friend for cheap when I was a kid. Wish I still had the blackfoot
Very nice!! It turned out great! These were always very cool trucks. I went with the Blackfoot back in the day over this one as the giant front bumper made it look a bit more toy grade to me. It looks wonderful to me know though!
My friend had this truck back in the day it was awesome we had a lot of fun with it he also had the wild willy and the big bear they were also a lot fun that what got me started in rc-ing. I wish i didnt get rid of my rc crawlers I had an hpi wheely king I like the way it crawled.
I had a Big Brute around 1990. Pretty much every time I drove it something would break, fall off or burn up (I drove it pretty hard!) My brother had a Blackfoot which ran like a champ, but the Brute definitely looked cooler, more like a proper monster truck.
Absolutely awesome job Luke... Next maybe the Nitro Brute?...... Panda stocker? A Dolphin? (forget who made that), A Bolink Digger? Man so many.... I forget what ones you did so if I repeated some, sorry.. I have an old Kyosho Assault here but it's in very rough shape (cut front rails, smushed rear cage, no motor (OS), no pipe (muffler)...................
How’s it going buddy, so yeah i have the Dolphin and Stocker, the nitro brute is one that’s tough because it’s a nitro and i don’t mess with those as there tough to set up just right, filming schedule and all. Maybe in the future. So the Digger is one I can find and get cheap in rough shape but I want to get one that’s got a nice box and tires. You can see a majority of my collection on instagram-lukesvintagerc. Promise the others are coming. Thanks 😊
@@LukesVintageRC Awesome Luke, I don't have instagram or twitter, I'm too damn old to try to figure that stuff out. Hell, I have a hard time just editing my videos (that's why mine are rough). No pc skills what so ever. I only use my cell for texts and calls. No apps on it.
But you're right about the breaking...I think the front bumper didn't last very long as there's so much of it that isn't really attached to anything. So when you hit something, the bracket would break at the bottom...and the tires...yikes...even on a new one they were pretty out of round...rather than rolling the truck would bounce down the road lol
hi Alex, i get asked this and as long as the prep is good no problem. besides these are for plastic too but prep is key- as you know most rc i restored is using these paints around 100 on the channel. thanks
Hi, I also have a Nitro Brute, but I don't know where the error is in the rear suspension because the wheels are "lying down", that is, the camber. I've already looked in the manual but there's no error in the assembly. Do you have any tips? Thanks
@@ericzerkle8486 lol! Well Im gonna do a USA 1 soon and my friend on RCRETRO did a fantastic video of a USA1 in action. Highly recommend this video. Thanks 😊
Great restoration as always Luke! The Big Brute looks really good 😀👌👌btw I made a video on my Kyosho Rocky and I would like your input on it if possible? It would be very much appreciated sir🙂
I love the old everything in electronics was build to last Not like today's stuff is weak to much surge protectors let it get hot 🔥🔥🔥🔥 then blow lol u know what I mean
Great resto on this Big Brute.. I restored about two of them myself. Have you ever seen the movie Dead Pool with Clint Eastwood? There is a rc car chase seen that was ahead of its time when the movie was made. I think it would be cool to reproduce the black rc corvette in the chase scenes. There was a appearence of the original Rc10 buggy in this movie as well.

Super nice truck! The big brute was my first hobby grade rc. Now i want it back!
Awesome, thanks for watching.
I have a chassis waiting for a restore because I cant find any wheels and tires. Beautiful truck awesome restore.
You totally saved that truck from being too far gone way to go brother 👍
Thanks Wade, yeah didn’t have much choice, restore a beat one or take a loan out to buy one.😆

That was the first hobby grade rc I wanted but could never get one because it was always sold out but I ended up getting a Big Boss
great stuff David. so i restored a Big Boss too, love those trucks too. thanks
I really wish they would rerelease this one! My brother had this one and I had the blackfoot. But this was such a cool looking truck.
Thank you 😊

Can your tell me what my tire options are. My BB is in mint condition, but the tires are not useable
So hard to find them in perfect condition. Possibly kyosho forums can help. Thanks

@@LukesVintageRC Sorry, I meant that I don't know where it's wrong, because I assembled it as the manual asks.

Hey thank you man. So yeah anything for my fellow rc brother. Would be an honor.
nice!!!
Always nice to have ya stop by.😊
I’d say it’s more like the midnight pumpkin/lunchbox than the Blackfoot
Id say size wise its similar to a Blackfoot
@@englishbannana1232 I’d agree with that, but I think overall design Bria bathtub type chassis it’s closer to the pumpkin/lunchy
