Great video. I own a 1988 Dyna truck that has the 13B engine and my son is looking at a later model Dyna that has the 15B F engine it's my understanding that both engines do not have a cambelt or chain system but use a gear system is that correct and does this year system require any regular maintenance at all. Love your vids, how about the fuel consumption of this engine compared to 1hd fte, n if u happen to have 1hdt fte, would you still be swapping for a 15bt?.. which one is the best for a daily driver
Glad you enjoyed the video 😃. Personally a 15B-FTE when compared the 1HD-FTE is not really fair as the 15B is missing 2 Cylinders and the cost difference is Big. Fuel consumption wise it's about on par with a 13BT in a BJ74 (10.2L/100km ish) with it sipping ever so slightly more juice. Hope you find it helpful
For a daily 1HD all day everyday as the inline-6 smoothness makes it less of an agricultural truck and more like an actual car
It would also be a bit helpful to isolate your voice for more clarity
Im from aus i want to put a 15bft in my cruiser i have the 1hdt but they are limited to max 200-250hp should be able to see 300-400hp from 15bft

They're an alright engine for sure. Some locally mod them with tons of power. It's a decent bit of kit for sure 😁
@@TAI-lr5vr the 15bte has an electric fuel pump and an auto box. How do u get it to work with a manual or other gearboxes
@@ianpereira4160 Hey there! We normally take the E-pump off the FTE and convert to run mechanical injection. It's possible to swap in H151F's behind these engines provided you have the right shafts. Not entirely sure for details as of now 😅

@@ianpereira4160 oh the block itself is mostly the same bar the piston oil squirters for the FTE version and some other ancillaries.
Aussies would be too scared to give up there boat anchor 1hds because 4 cylinder engines scare them
Well they're both different in how they deliver the torque. 15B sucker punches down low whilst the 1HD can keep the RPM'S going. It's a matter of preference 😁
@@TAI-lr5vr yeah well that's down to a bunch of factors I have an Isuzu 4jj1 and I get both, I think it's because of the 1hd smaller bore/stroke/and probably better flow through the rpm range where as the 15 having an enormous displacement was probably never designed to need to rev hard at all the I like the 1hd theg sound awesome go well but I don't think they go that well for what they are and I like fours the good ones go well and everyone hates them
@@danielspoon1234 true 4JJ1 do have a bit of go on them 😁 The bore/stroke ratio for a 1HD is geared more towards revs which is ideal for making HP and relative torque but doesn't have that sucker punch feel down low. Love both equally tbh 😍

As an experienced diesel, technician hearing you butcher everything about that engine was quite cringe to me. She talk about stuff that you know about not just guessing oh, direct injections must be better than whatever the hell it had before which is called indirect injection and just stop with the old talking about it. Shit just show the truck goddamn boy.
