These videos are spectacular - I've wanted something like this since Shreddage 1 :) It's fantastic to have the MIDIs downloadable and to be able to experiment with all this functionality that I hadn't yet delved into.
I get so much from these videos. Thank you! I would like to see a video on using different techniques on how to play a decent funk guitar with a DAW. This would be awesome to see in a video. Thank you.
Thank you very much!!!! Thanks to you, I finally managed to be able to change articulations on my midi tracks, which is something I spent a lot of time trying to understand. You got one subscriber more :)
Do you think you could add an option to map vibrato amount to Host Automation instead of only the mod wheel or aftertouch? I use Shreddage 3 Hydra with Kontakt in LMMS, and that doesn't let me use the mod wheel.
Thank you so much - Time to count my pennies! Huge question. How did you automate the Pitchbend wheel in Kontakt? I can't find any info on that and I see you were able to do that. I found the Mod Wheel in "Browse parameters", but I can't right click or find the pitch wheel anywhere to automate.
"browse parameters" is a button in FLStudio. If you're using FL, then you can automate pitch within a pattern. Where the velocity for each note is typically displayed below the piano roll, click the "control" button on the left and select "channel pitch" from the channel controls header. You can draw a pitch bend bar graph. Turn your "snap to grid" option to a short note (1/4 or no snap) for more sensitivity with this control (thinner bars). Make sure that at the end of the graph you draw at least one bar at exactly zero (the number you're on is displayed in the top left corner of FLStudio under the file name while you're dragging the graph bars) or the rest of your track will sound pitch bent, and when playing back, play till the end of the pattern or the channel pitch will remain bent until an automation tells it to go back to zero. Every sound from that channel will sound starkly out of tune if this happens. There's no mistaking it. One more thing: while drawing the bar graph, if you hold left click, hold control, and drag left to right, this will flatten a range of the graph. This is really important if you need to reset an area to zero. Just find zero, hold control, and strafe the whole area. I don't know for sure if there's a difference between doing this and using Kontakt's pitch wheel. I think they call the same algorithm though. If so, the sound will be exactly the same.
@@vikashdenzil I've thought about it. I've become much more versed in FLStudio and mixing over the last couple of years. I'm definitely too busy right now, but maybe in a few months I could. In the meantime, there are numerous FLStudio and mixing tutorials out there. Some of them are very good. The channel In The Mix comes to mind, and SpectreSoundStudios for mixing, but not FL specifically.
The very first shreddage 2 didn't sound as great as this but everything was so easier. Maybe I'm just dumb but getting all these keyswitches to work like I wanted it to has been a headache lol, I liked it better when lowering the velocity changed to chugs. It's easier playing my real guitar.
How do I go about removing the guitar noise? When I write breakdowns, In between the chug patterns has lots of unwanted guitar noise. I guess that would be like the "realism" added in. Is there a way to turn that down or remove it? Thank you
Heya, for some reason the AfterTouch Vibrato switch doesn't which. I put it on AfterTouch and I went to it in FL but it didn't work. Am I missing something. Please reply. ;-;
@@ImpactSoundworksLLC Shreddage 3 Serpent... I gave up and just put two separate slides together and blended them in Adobe Soundbooth, so it's no longer an issue.
@Nabeel Ansari I never use the LITE.nki file. The slide articulations are set to the longest possible slides, and the TACT transition length did help extend the slides, but not by much.
@Nabeel Ansari Well the speed of the slide should be relative to the tempo, but Shreddege doesn't seem to connected to the tempo of the DAW, so the only way I can describe the speed of the slide I'm looking for is half of a 4/4 measure.
Just throwing this out here to see if anyone has figured this out... But for programming dissonant leads where the guitar is playing for example alternating quarter notes like C3 on the B string and C#3 on the E string, how do you make the notes sustain? I have the sustain keyswitch set, of course. But I think what is happening is that Hydra thinks that I want to play the C3 and C#3 on the same string. So it's cutting off the C3 as soon as I move to the C#3. I'd love to be able to get that dissonant, sustained sound but idk if there is a way to do that. If you stack the two notes, it'll play them as a chord, but as soon as they are moved over, it starts cutting them off. If anybody has any ideas, I'd appreciate it!
We are producing these one by one - each requires new MIDIs, mockups, renders, VO, and video. However, we're looking to move it faster. Part 2 will come next week.
Impact Soundworks LLC I’m having problems with two notes playing on separate strings at the same time (other than power chords), it only triggers one of the notes.
@@Az_Eaz Maybe you're triggering hammer-ons when you don't intend to? Check the velocity range / mapping for hammers. For example you could set this to a keyswtich, or a narrower velocity range, so that you don't get legato unless you play in that specific range.
@@ImpactSoundworksLLC Velocity is 122 for both notes. There is a slight delay between the two notes and they are overlapped, however, when the notes are quantised (not overlapped) the chord plays correctly. Other articulations are available via keyswitch as before. The settings VERY closely match what we had in S2. Everything should feel way more playable out of the box.
You can easily do this in TACT. Just enable Portamento and put it on the same keyswitch as Sustains. However you'll need to give it a different velocity range than hammer/pull. The script needs a way to know whether it should hammer or slide to a note.
it's not that hard. first, you need to know how to read. second, you need a bit of patience, as by default on the latest version of jupiter, slides are off by default in TACT. enable them, and sliding works as expected. also ensure your velocity is at the right level to trigger a sustained note.
