That livery - despite the unfortunate associations with the tobacco industry - is one of the greatest and while both the silver and papaya have been really good I STILL think of McLaren as the white and red team. Seeing it back for the first time since 1996, even if only as a one-off, would be amazing.
McLarens Marlboro livery, Williams Rothmans livery, Ferrari red and Jordans Benson and Hedges yellow livery will forever be synonymous with formula 1.
Piastri or Lando recreating the "lap of the Gods" in a Marlboro-esque livery will be biblical

If they are going for the classic McLaren they better go all out and not half-ass it. My favorite livery of all time is the Gulf McLaren cause they really went all out with the scheme, so they should do the same for Senna.

i would absolutely love if the fia chose to make the monaco gp a sort of “vintage” exception where teams are allowed/endorsed to revive liveries of old times including cigarette sponsors and so on. would be great to see a camel-williams or a mild seven renault/alpine again

As a new Formula 1 fan, I thought Marlboro was a ferrari sponsor back in the day, did McLaren and Ferrari have overlap with their Marlboro livery or were they seperate timings?
Marlboro left McLaren and went to Ferrari around the same time as Schumacher moved from Benetton - 1996 was the last red and white McLaren from memory.
Then McLaren switched to the black and silver West Cigarette livery in 97 which was real sharp!

Mclaren are one of the few teams that have at least 4 iconic liveries- Orange(Papaya),Marlboro,West mercedes,Chrome and red Merecedes and Gulf (criminally underused in F1)
I honestly loved the Marlboro livery. It's one of there best in my opinion. In ACC simracing I drive it as my livery on the McLaren 720S Evo.
The Mclaren White and Red chevron design is as iconic as the Eiffel is to Paris or Mount Fuji is to Japan !! I do agree, that for Miami, Ferrari had ONE JOB TO DO and they totally duffed it up !! I am really looking forward to the next 2 races, going to be very interesting.
I am 90% sure if we get this it will be white and Orange since Malbro has the red triangle on while thing trademarked. found this out after being told it was teh reason Lego couldnt make their MP4/4 model have a triangle by the nose

I do wonder if they should of moved Imola to a different point in the season so that the GP wouldn't be overshadowed by 30th anniversary of Senna and Ratzenberger's death (similar to how Japan/Suzaka was moved meaning the GP wasn't overshadowed by the 10th anniversary of Bianchi's fatal accident). Given how close the anniversary date is to the actual race, the race will probably have a sombre overtone.

IDK, I kinda think the car will be at the race in Monaco with white and papaya Marlboro scheme, not red. Maybe the Vodafone red/orange color they had for many years, but we'll see.

I'd love them to celebrate the great man with the Marlboro livery. But its ORANGE and white ;) , well it was when I was there in the late 80's/ early 90's. Love the content though mate . Viva McLaren. I love the way the bright orange used to glow in the sun. Even at Silverstone last year .only done one lap , it's stunning.(although i'm as biased as you are)
Just to add to this , I think it was a case of the TV cameras weren't good enough to pick up the fluorescent orange , it looked red..
I've always seen it as red but if they can make it work and it looks the part it will be an instant hit with the audience.

considering they have been hinting the colors already... and they have a history of doing the walk in terms of liveries.... id say there is a big chance they are going to actually do a "malboro era" colored livery. they just basically need to re do the triple crown livery with red instead of papaya.
Yes. The triple crown livery was lovely and in touch with their history. Just do that with classic colours and they've got an instant crowd pleaser.

And if we look at the audi thing than germany knew months before the rest of the world that audi is 100% comited. I hope they do better than Lego did with their McLaren MP4/4.....which completely messed up the chevron on the nose. There are probably reasons for that, but if you can't do it right, maybe better not do it at all. Are you also listening, Ferrari?

I know it is not about the video what I want to say, but I think everything is said what I would say about this video. I don’t if you know but Jamie Chadwick had a podium in indycar and I think she is more disservning of an FP1 session and I know she doesn’t not have enough super licence points, but if the FIA make a exception that they could for her too.

Yeah, it's a one off, but I think the blue hp logos might stay sadly. We will have to see at imola

I still don't understand why people call that color scheme white and red. It's orange but not papaya orange. It sometimes looked red on tv, but in person, it was closer to a fluorecent orange.
Because it was designed to look like a pack of Marlboros, how it appeared on television was far more important than how it appeared in person.
