Since nobody else seems to have mentioned it: 0:15 that's the weight of the Soviet artillery piece used to fire their 280mm shell, not the weight of the munition. The shell "only" weighed 246kg. A 650mm shell would probably weigh about 10 times that (because if you double the diameter you octuple the volume).
I love it when you put out a video, and I can just hear the ear to ear grin you have on your face while recording. I'm glad to see more ship fitting and application guides. Those always seem like they have been your passion point. See you in space.
Minmatar pilot here - I am also addicted to artillery fits for combat sites and ratting (being an alpha clone for now really hurts to not have an MJD D:). My favorite part is being 60-100km away in my Maelstrom or Tornado, leaving my turrets ungrouped, and just pressing F1, F2, F3....until everything blinks off my overview
Hey brother, I'm just now coming back to the game as long time minmatar flyer! I haven't played since 2014 and I've forgotten everything literally lol. I remember flying the hurricane a lot and your video is like making me learn to ride the bicycle again, thanks thumbs up!
"In rust we trust" hehe on a more serious note though, I would recommend messing around with abyssal modifications for the shield extenders (and gyros/afterburner too, if you want to min/max); you can add a good chunk of hp, dmg and speed that way for reasonably cheap. One high slot that could maybe work might be a drone upgrade (I think there's one that extends the max range, but it's been awhile since I used them). I used to really dig the hurricane but then spent too long in a tengu, and now switched to a legion lol. Too many fun ships to fly imho.
I’m pretty new to Eve Online, but I’m interested in the possibilities of joining factional warfare to train my combat skills. Would this be interesting for you to make a video about? Or is it really advanced for beginners?
PvP is always fairly advanced because you're going up against players who know their ships well. I strongly suggest getting a feel for your ships capabilities in PvE, then trying PvP after that. That's basically why I've not covered PvP yet, as I feel there's basics that need covering first.
It is good idea to start factional warfare. As soon as you join that way of being in Eve as soon you find a social part of that game. Also, you will be surprised with your knowledge burst of Eve ships abilities and piloting skills. In a month of active factional warfare you will look at so named “pve-players” like at vegetables. Try your best. Don't listen to hisec crabs.
Oh had to jump back on to this video as ask if you have tried to use Skinner to make a cherry blosom pink skin for the silent Rose yet? Thag would be great to see.
I wanted to fly a hurricane but was too torn between the autocannons or the artillery and ended up flying a scorpion for a while before dropping back down to a Drake/Moa and it’s been a fun change of pace to do L3 missions in between doing T0 abyss with my polarized kestrel. I’m looking to upgrade to a drake navy issue soon but it’s way too overkill for what I do. I one shot most frigates and destroyers, 2 shot cruisers, 3/4 shot battle cruisers and battleships are just a tankfest xD it’s been super fun!
Hey man, new player here, questions for you, 1 How often do you run into issues with vessels at a close range orbiting you etc, could I counteract this by having 2 auto cannons and 4 arty turrets? and what is that shield module you have there at the top that's glowing orange?
Ahoy there! Honestly, if you're splitting your weapons like that, you're making a ship that doesn't excel at anything, and suffers because of it. A better approach is to understand the ship and your opposition. You have long range weaponry. The advantage is the range and the amount of damage it does per hit. The downside is tracking. But the further away something is, the slower it's traversal velocity. Imagine standing at a roadside looking out across a road, beyond which is a field, beyond which is another road. If two cars drive along those roads at the same speed, the closest one shoots by really quickly. The one in the distance seems to move much slower. As such, you use target priority. Shoot the frigates first before they get too close. If they do get close, your drones will finish them off, it just takes a while and slows down your clear time. The orange shield module is a "Multispectrum Shield Hardener". When activated, it uses a small amount of capacitor to increase all of your shield resistances, reducing the damage that you take.
@@captainbenzie Appreciate you brother, I followed your build to a T, absolutely gobsmacked at the damage I'm dishing out, I'm an Artillery Marine in real life so my fascination with artillery goes very deep but wasn't expecting it to be this fun. Love the scaling on this video, finally something i can watch without black bars top and bottom. Helps that the content is good as well. That rose story is a nice introduction into the ways of eve. o7
Benzie, is EO insurance worth? I ask because compared to EE it looks like it doesn't help at all, only getting a part of the ship's value IF you looses it in a time period...
Good stuff Benzie! Can’t wait to join EO and start working towards a Cane myself. Gonna be a few months till I have the setup. I REALLY like that passive tank ability something EE hasn’t matched.
Salvager in the middle slot for heat sink no? Does heat wrap? My understanding is no. Also, why not a meta 4 shield extender instead of a "1"? Too expensive maybe, or does it just lower the fit req. and not the shield amount, idk. Think it's an F-S9 for the medium at least
I basically fit using what I had lying around or was very cheap nearby. Yeah, a Large Regolith isn't much more but this is what I had. Same with the Multispectrum. As for the Salvager going in the middle for overheating, this is only for L3s. I've never had to overheat anything and doing so may speed things up but also reduces profit due to repairs/nanite paste costs.
I'm watching your EO stuff just because they're entertaining. Most of the stuff I know but some things I may not so worth watching anyway. One thing I think you should do a video on is the overview settings. You're using the Eve University overview, and I think that would be helpful for newer players because it duffers greatly to what they see.
I love the look of that ship. I am a caldari who flies mostly mimnatar ships thanks to The Captian o7 I am in fact training covert ops to 5 as I write this and my cheetah is such a nice ship to fly 😊
Nah, Autocannons are amazing too, just because this is a passive shield fit, the range helps reduce incoming damage for a nice chill experience. Brawling with Autocannons usually requires a more aggressive tank but makes for a powerful damage dealer!
if u manage to use six 720mm II it will be 4 groups two of two and two of one the first ones to destroyer and bigge the last two for frigates but no in one shot
Absolutely agree that it's amongst the best looking! I think some of the Edencom and Triglavians come close (Kikimora and Thunderchild etc) but factoring in cost, power, versatility etc... The Cane wins!

Love my destroyers I’d say I fly my cormorant 85% of my eve time..they are great , cheap powerful little ships to do lowsec ratting in and you do pick up the odd bit of pvp, they’ve got absolutely no tank but with tech 2 neutron blasters and void ammo I’m getting well north of 500 dps which melts the rats and gets me loads of lovely clone soldier tags 😃 fly safe o7
