You should have cleaned that MAF sensor while it was out… something like Berryman B12 and let air dry. (DO NOT USE COMPRESSED AIR!) I bet that has never been cleaned in its life… and you’ll get better throttle response and possibly better MPGs… Loving this build, keep up the incredible work!👍
I know some people hate K&N open filters like this one, but the K&N works really well for these trucks. Have had mine on my obs since 2015. I do wish they had an enclosure so I can keep out rain but I will be building an enclosure for myself. The front part of my OBS was damage so water use to see under the hood and the air filter did get some water on it. Splashes not a drown. Their phrase for saying its long lasting, don't follow that. I typically wash my filter about 1-2 times a year and hit back up with ATF fluid as the oil. I got my K&N kit through pepboys then and half the parts were missing when I picked it up. I got about .9mpg increase on mine with the intake alone. back then. I have a bunch of complimentary stuff now.
The reason the intake didn’t fit right was because it was meant for the 5.0 vortec. The 5.0 had a much shorter throttle body. It makes sense why the angles are off, because you have the 5.7. If you put that on a 5.0 it would fit better I imagine
@@angrybadger8136 Nope, during the OBS generation they had a 5.0 vortec. The 4.8 didn’t come out until 1999 along with the new body style that people refer to as the “Bubble Eye”
I got a spectre one for my obs I definitely noticed slightly better fuel mileage nothing really hp wise but like you said no reason to get one 😂😂😂 mainly got mine because it has a polished pipe 🥴 so it made the motor stand out a lot nicer than the original plastic look
On my '98 Silverado 5.7L I'm running a JET Performance throttle body spacer and factory style replacement K&N Performance air filter in my factory high capacity intake box. JET also makes a performance mass air flow sensor if you're looking for actual gains.
If you want to hear it open up at wide open throttle , modify cowl induction hood and modify the air intake to receive air through the cowl induction like the old days , like the Trans AM or Chevelle that got their design from NASCAR

I put cold air intake, high flow maf, high flow throttle body. All I kept getting was lean codes the computer wasn’t add enough fuel, so I had to take it off. You have any problems with yours?
My obs is having trouble a 93 surburban 4x4 I had change pad cause metal metal then they started sticking in the front driver side I changed caliper rotor pads and brake hose I even took steel brake line blew it with compressor and still stuck any help??
Should have gotten the volant cool air intake its better quality its got a lid instead of that open rubber weather seal stuff had one on a 2003 dodge ram with stock exaust and it would hum under hard acceleration sounded good like it had a real exaust system on it

I would reach out to them, the reason it doesn't fit is because they sent you the wrong one. The one they sent you is for the 5.0. The 5.7 and 5.0 cold air intakes are two different model numbers. That's why the angles are off and throttle spacer did not work. I would ask them to send the correct one to you.
You aren’t moving enough air to need a less restrictive filter, wix paper filter is way better and you never need to clean it. I run the factory sized wix on my 7.4 with headers, flow masters and a tune and it has plenty of air

All intake brands are grossly overpriced for what they are and what they offer. The 7-8ish HP gained above 4k rpms will never be felt and your fuel economy will remain unchanged as well. Snake oil. A stock box, intake, and a clean filter won't hurt that engine's performance in the least.

Had this same intake on my ‘97 K1500 one of my favorite mods

Cold air intakes dont really do much if anything for a stock gasser. Most trucks have stock cold air intakes from late 90's on anyway.
