    Honestly these parents seem extremely welcoming and compassionate. It's sad that the teens looked down on their host's home and living conditions. Not everyone has access to clean water or electricity or fresh food. The fact those things are so rare and yet they're choosing to share what they have with you speaks volumes of their character.

    Billies interactions with the grandma goes to show what she was missing was someone to push her out of her comfort zone and show her that she doesn’t need to be afraid, and she had to be shown she was loved.

      Agreed! And even the Mom realizing how her culture they’re not supposed to show compassion when putting down their foot, maybe isn’t the best way of handling every situation as she approached the next situation differently and more empathetic, I genuinely believe this episode was good for everyone in it.
      The thing about every episode I watched, is the issues start back home with their original parents.

      It's the same in Ghana and Nigeria. It's just Africa. We have values and societal standards that most European countries don't have. We do chores no matter what and if you start drinking and smoking your parents cannot know else if they get to know, you'll regret learning all those stuff

    I moved to Kenya in 2018. I’ve lived in Europe, Asia, the Middle East, Australia and 3 other Southern African nations. BY FAR the best place to live was Nairobi. Problems and all, Kenyans are warm, hospitable and polite. Beautiful country, too.

    Big kudos to our Kenyan family for implementing the most effective strategies. The touching moment when the girl visited the grandmother truly stirred my emotions. It's a memory I believe will profoundly impact her life. Hats off to the documentary creators; outstanding work!

      Well I am British and I had pure discipline, I help with bills and I cook dinner most nights if I am not in work... not all British parents are bad but most parents just give in, it’s terrible over here, you have to be so careful as it’s dangerous, the children who are not disciplined are dangerous

    Honestly this even opened my eyes to myself, seeing how appreciative and hardworking they are in Kenya is inspiring and makes me want to be more driven. As an American, everything really is easy and taken for granted... education, food, shelter, work... etc.

      Coming from someone who went to Catholic schools from elementary to college: Uniforms are awesome! It takes the extra stress and pressure of thinking what to wear to school, giving everyone more time and energy to focus and think about more important things

      was brought up in Kenya and am in my 50's and forever grateful for what my parents/grandparents instilled in us. l have 2 grownup kids now born and brought up in Uk, never had any trouble from them so it pays back l suppose its true saying you reap what you sow.

    In Kenya and my 2.5 year old twins are already learning housechores.They somehow wipe the table after meals and I clean it to perfection later on

      Am in UK and my now 4yr old washes up, makes the bed, tidy-up her room and when i say NO i don't change my mind. She doesn't get all she wants and i tell her that in life we dont get all we want sometimes we have to go without!

    I love Scott’s disgust at the rubbish 😂 My first summer job was cleaning the slurry pits at the local sewage works. It was awful, for an hour or so, then we got on with it and I was able to pay towards my tuition.
