Two things cut for time;
1. The thigh issue isn't exclusive to me. Someone in the comments of my unboxing had a similar issue. I imagine others may as well as time goes on , but even if it was JUST me... Oh well. Wrong guy to have it happen to.
2. Interestingly, at the time of announcement, Iris was $200 at the conversion rate.
So Bandai.... Overcharged the US market.
I'm coming.
Something worth noting is it appears the actual ball joint socket part on the left leg is actually has a warped V shaped dip in in that the other leg doesn't and tends to pop out more.
For $300 (more expensive then most X-plus), this figure should have no issues at all

Man, just... what where they thinking with the leg engineering?? I actually gasped with hand over mouth @10:22 because WHAT IS THAT?
The SHMA division have a nasty habit of including bizarre joint configuration experiments with their figures with this being the most baffling case. If it was that difficult trying to accommodate for the flight mode... Why not just pull a Gamera and have separate sculpted leg parts ENTIRELY that you can just pop in without any of this nonsense seen here.
Don't let anyone dissuade you from speaking your mind because this needs to be talked about. Premium Bandai, Web Exclusive... and this is what they expect you to pay for?
This thing is easily $150 at best.
I will keep this in mind when I get it in hand. Seriously, thank you for continuing to speak the truth. I'm convinced it's all yes men over there because how does any of these design choices get the thumbs up???
Great review steven! Made me realize that when i moved my iris the top knee joints didnt actually move, only the bottom ones. Iris does feel like a ticking time bomb but as long as i never move my action figure, i should be fine lol
I heard the Figuarts team and Monsterarts team aren't the same but dang, that's a bad joint design. You'd thought that being under the same company means they can share technologies but they clearly opted for aesthetics over playability. Otherwise why would they even thought of using clear plastic in joints when it's more fragile.
They aren't, but Tamashii Nations is going to be the branch of Bandai making this. They clearly have the template there and have the ability to look AT THEIR OWN PRODUCTS LMFAO and address it better.
Honestly mine didnt have much of these problems only thing that went wrong with mine was some paint chip from the tip on the left shoulder all thw joints on mine have been really good and the knee spikes arent loose at all for me its kinda sad that they'd send you one with so much issues at that price man😢
Those wing parts are a nightmare to put on. And yes, the support base is very weak. The legs on yours are bad. Luckily, mine haven’t fallen apart (yet). I, too, love the Heisei Gamera movies. It’s a shame that the first villain they released is so problematic.
Welp, this convinced me to get the MMS Iris instead. Good thing I waited to pull the trigger.
Good thing I held off on ordering this figure, and good thing I watched your video Steve, you just helped me save $300 plus shipping cost. I was planning on having Iris be my last SH Monsterarts figure, but again watching this video of yours prevented me from putting a big hole in my wallet. MonsterArts Gamera 1999 Kyoto Decisive Battle was the last Monsterarts figure I've added to my collection, and while I certainly do enjoy that figure, it'll be the last one I add to my collection Period! I think from now on, I'm done with Monsterarts, moving on to Hiya Toys from now on. Sorry Tamashii Nations, it was fun while it lasted.
Leave it to tamashii to put experimental joints and a shabby stand on one of their most beautiful but overpriced figures

Hey, Steve. Have you ever made a video about the building you used ? I would wanna know where did you get those buildings from the intro. They look nice and seems to be in scale with Hiya Monsterverse figures. That sorta stuff would make my shelf looks more alive... or dead since it's in a middle of currently 6 Kaiju

I’m not understanding the price point. This guy is half the size of MV Ghidorah and functions just as badly, yet is double the price? Tamashi really needs to get their crap together.
Bandai is killing it this year, hope they have more Gamera stuff coming cause everything they’ve done is so good, need to pick this up asap

@@thomassoder5648 Lol someone definitely hasn't looked at kyoto gamera or gamera 2023, both of which Steven liked and discussed how those figures are obvious examples of when tamashii is trying and gives out actual good quality. Meanwhile look at night color version g19......this is why people are saying tamashii kills it with their gamera stuff but can't get their godzilla (especially monsterverse) stuff right.
I find it ironic you say Steven is honest with his reviews yet he was honest when he said kyoto gamera was a full on replacement for the ugly 2018 release and gamera 2023 being so good isn't a good look for tamashii who fails at doing godzilla somehow. How do you do good for a giant turtle but not the king of the monsters your entire line is centered around? Make that make sense
Only downside to both gamera figures are their dumb prices but the quality is at least good once you take the price away
SO HAPPY I preordered early from eKnight media for 260, tax included and shipped. mines for tje most part came out great and i thankfully haven't had many issues with it. its such a cool piece imo and i have a deep appreciation for heisei gamera and G3 in particular.

Damn, that's pretty disappointing. Reminds me SO much of the 2019 Ghidorah release. I wasn't gonna get it in the first place just cause of the high price point and my relative lack of care for the character, but I was happy to see we were getting Gamera characters and hoped it would lead to some Showa releases. Probably not now. Great review though, Winter slander aside.
I know the QC issues are just unacceptable but this is still one of the most if not the most beautiful figure ever. I don’t really care about just trying to get it in place I’m def buying.
but i will only use the flying system once because if that thing falls off the shelf it’s wraps.

To be honest, i not fan of SHM because always too expensive and second always so many issues, not worthy for me to buy ☹️. Vegeta, go save your lovely waifu Bulma from evil Kaiju Iris, hahahahaha 😂! Sorry, not interest to pick up SHM Iris attempt the price and attempt the issues, Steven. Anyway, still great video, Steven 🤗.

I can tell you are getting sick and tired of this line, why can you stop buying it, nobodys not going to care about you stop buying figures from S.H Monsterarts, plus I don’t think Iris is going to sell well because of x plus price(Bandai Namco and Tamashii Nations really love our tax money) and nobody knows and mostly do not care about this Kaiju monster.

@@StevensToyReviews Yes pretty much. Because ever since Godzilla night color edition and gamera 2023, we really need This line shut down for good. Bandai Namco and Tamashii Nations should really shut down S.H Monsterarts line for good, do you agree with that?

@@StevensToyReviews it’s not as prominent and I also haven’t heard many others with the issue of the leg
I clearly photographed the issues with the paint - literally in more than 4k natural resolution - and communicated what caused the issue with the hips.
"I think you got a stinker" = someone's problem isn't mine. Bad take. I got this one out of a random assortment. This could've been the one you bought. Also, how many others are like this? Posted online or not?
@@StevensToyReviews I think I phrased this wrong. What I mean is I think you got a very rough copy with a lot of QC issues that may or may not be on every copy. I’m trying to say that from the looks of it yours (which I know is from a random assortment) looks to have gotten roughed up far more than most copies
