Just getting into the mft game for ministry (interviews, vlogs, podcasts mostly in studio). I really like the Meike as well. I greatly appreciate your channel and your insight. Keep up the good work, Chief!
Thanks for this comparison!! Definitely different looks with these two. That rack focus was especially striking to me. Very helpful to see side by side...thanks, Alex!
Pulling focus is so different on these. I should've mentioned it in the video, but the 7artisans only has about a 90 degree focus throw, but the meike has almost twice that.
Your my favorite photography guru 😜 I have a degree from 97’ in film and TV but keeping up with the tech when it changes so fast is difficult. Thank you for sharing your knowledge and wisdom so I can make better choices when I buy stuff.
Alex, thank you for doing this! I just reviewed the 35 f1.7 on my channel (I'm pretty new) and I think you did a good job on the "in the field" footage...very artistic, but very consistent (and therefore helpful!)
Absolutely no idea of which is sharper, but I did like more the 7artisans look. It'd be awesome if you could compare the Meike, to the cine version (t2.2). Different max aperture and price class, but to know how different they are optically. I'll be playing around with the 25mm t2.2 but the whole line looks great.
Your video is FANTASTIC. As an audiovisual source, as well as a facilitator's exposé. Your choice of language, pausing and pronunciation is A-1. I'm an Old School image artisan, and I came here looking for an opinion on 7Artisans, then you presented me with Meike. Well, do you remember the Hamilton Style? That was a revolution on softness & sensuality. The dreamy look came in fashion, even in movies, back in the 70s. Now, personally, I found Meike to be a tad sharper than the 7Artisans, but the latter yields warmer tones. Hard choice. But 7Artisans costs less, too. Warmer skin tones, in my experience, gave me great results: on white skin it looks healthy, and on dark skin, it gives this light-brown skin tone that adds delicate luster that models love. Keep on clicking. Keep on sharing.
I totally agree the Meike looked sharper wide open than the 7artisans even though it's a little tough to tell with RUclips compression. Great option for folks on a bit of a budget.
Yeah. And the simple fact is wide open the depth of field is so thin it's tough to focus period. But when you get it, the shots are beautiful. Much easier to pull focus on the Meike tho.
First time on your channel and thanks for the quick comparison of these two lenses. Now I see they definitely have a different look, but the Meike seemed a little sharper across the entire frame to me.
Comparing them both at f1.4 would’ve showed how different they actually are. I have the Mitakon 17mm T1.0 and I have to close it down to T1.4 to get rid of that vintage look. F1.0 and f1.2 is a lot of light coming in so it’s definitely hard to compare to another lens that ls not as fast.
There are not enough markings on the 1.2 to be sure its set at 1.4. It would all be guessing. If you want to make a comparison the way you think it should be done, be my guest.
Hello sir, can you give me an opinion which is which coz I have fuji xt100 and turning the two either its meike or artisan. Can you give me the opinion about the rings. Who will last longer? Thank you
I bought a 7artisans and returned it after it was far to tight to fit my fuji. Shocked that they got something this basic as fit wrong otherwise would have been a great Lens
Alex Minor yes if it’s to tight it can damage the mount over time, think I just got a bad one. I just got the neewer 35mm 1.7 (slightly cheaper Meike and better focus control than the 1.4) lens today. Absolutely beautiful fits like a gem and takes amazing photos. Also I had some close focus filters that fit the 49mm thread from a Helios lens collection. So nice to finally find a modern lens that has the same qualities as some of my vintage lenses like the Jupiter 8
i tested the 7artisan 35mm yesterday and yea..the fit was too tight, had a problem putting on and getting off...at 1 point i tought the lens was stuck to the body or damage the groove for the lens
Hey man, great content, I find it really helpful as I am just getting into shooting videos. Can you confirm if the Meike 35mm 1.4 is good for the original bmpcc?
Nice breakdown. I picked up the fotoasy F1.7 which seems more akin to the 7artisans lens in its stylization. Who DID that soundtrack though? Pretty legit.
Most folks who buy these lenses will be doing so with the intent to shoot them wide open or close to wide open most of the time. Therefore it makes no sense for me to spend the majority of my video comparing them at 2.8 and higher. If you need that, feel free to buy the lenses and make your own comparison like I did.
Please I need youк professional advise! which is a better for foto and video? 1) 7artisans 35mm f1.2 2) Meike 35mm 1.4 3) 7artisans 25mm f1.8 4) Meike 25mm 1.8 5) kamlan 28mm 1.4
Out of those lenses I think the Kamlan 28mm is the best, but I've never used the 7artisans 25mm or meike 25mm. But knowing what I know about the three brands, I have no doubt the Kamlan is the best of the bunch.
I'd go with the 25mm f1.8. The 35mm f1.2 acts a lot like a vintage lens and for close up product shots its going to be super hard to get critical focus unless you shoot at a super high aperture. And then whats the point of having a 1.2?
Meike sounds a whole lot better pronounced as my-keh, than calling it mako(the shark). As for the lenses I like both, especially the affordability and the fact that they are low light monsters.
Meike... The proper way to pronounce it is May-Ker (as in maker). However, no one will yell at you if you pronounce it as May-kee. Everyone is mispronouncing it. As long as you say nice things about their products, they won't care about proper pronunciations. 😀
Thanks for the comparison! I've been torn in between these two for daaays. Gonna get that Meike today.
I'm glad it helped.

I will have to see if I can borrow one somehow. No budget to buy one right now.

The 7Artisans really is a dog when it comes to sharpness, at times. I plan to dump it but each time I do, I get sentimental and give it another go.
Yeah. And the simple fact is wide open the depth of field is so thin it's tough to focus period. But when you get it, the shots are beautiful. Much easier to pull focus on the Meike tho.
The f1.2 is a little too soft for me, wide open. Thanks for the video!!!
Glad you like it!
Nice footage, very helpful. From your footage it looked like the 7Artisans had punchier colors. Thanks for making the vid!
Thanks for watching!
great video! Thank you for sharing these comparisons for these lens. I'm looking at getting a new lens for my camera and this helped a lot!
Yay! That’s what we do it for.
First time on your channel and thanks for the quick comparison of these two lenses. Now I see they definitely have a different look, but the Meike seemed a little sharper across the entire frame to me.
It definitely is. A lot sharper across the frame.
I think i prefer the meike, it looks sharper in the back and the focus is better for video
I agree.
Thank you brother! This is extremely informative
I'm glad it helped.

A lot of people buy these to shoot with wide open. So that's how I try to showcase them.
Excellent video, was looking for precisely this information!
Glad I could help!
7artisans kinda look more “dramatic” and kinda more vivid but both are good
I agree, but the Meike is more to my personal taste.
good old fashioned lens shoot out BANG BANG

Hi My friend plz help me!!! Wich its better Meike?
-35MM 1.4
-25MM 1.8
On a fujifilm x1.5 (X-T200)
Im starting... thanks
Should do a comparison. The 1.2 set at 1.4 so ill be fair!
There are not enough markings on the 1.2 to be sure its set at 1.4. It would all be guessing.

Hello sir, can you give me an opinion which is which coz I have fuji xt100 and turning the two either its meike or artisan. Can you give me the opinion about the rings. Who will last longer?
Thank you
They’re both well built. Either one will last if you take care of it. I think the Amelie is the Better lens in general.
I bought a 7artisans and returned it after it was far to tight to fit my fuji. Shocked that they got something this basic as fit wrong otherwise would have been a great Lens
Too tight? 🤔 usually you hear folks complain about Chinese lenses having too much play. Dont know what to tell ya.
Hey man what about meike 35mm f1.4 vs meike 35mm f1.7?? Which do you prefer?
Haven't used the 1.7
What does fit better on a6400 with low light subject under UV light ? Thanks in Advance great video
I don’t use Sony cameras so I can’t say with any certainty.
@@AlexMinor many thanks 😊✌️
I´ve already bought Meike for cooking video recipes with my a6000. Right choice?
If you like how it looks and it let's you capture the images you need it's the right choice.
Great video! Gotta ask what's the awesome track?!
I licensed it from Artlist. Don't remember the name.
Hey man, great content, I find it really helpful as I am just getting into shooting videos. Can you confirm if the Meike 35mm 1.4 is good for the original bmpcc?
You can use it on that camera, but you wil have a tighter crop than you see in this footage. The Original BMPCC has a super 16 sensor size.
How woukd u compare the meike to the pergear?
The only pergear lens I’ve tried is the 12mm which is pretty dope. I’ve got a review of that on the channel
I have the pergear 25mm i love the image but in certain lighting conditions it can be a hassle so im looking for a good alternative for mostly video
How do these compare to Veydras?
There completely different beasts. I’d rather have veydras than one of these any day.
@@AlexMinor have you seen this shootout review with Meike & Veydra? ruclips.net/video/dTG8bGfOuJU/видео.html
Nice breakdown. I picked up the fotoasy F1.7 which seems more akin to the 7artisans lens in its stylization. Who DID that soundtrack though? Pretty legit.
I licensed the music from Artlist. Don't know the artist name off hand.
They are some of the worst sounding drums ever.
Otherwise great review
Music is very cool
You cant compare lenses at different apertures. A f1.2 will always be softer than a f1.4. I want to see what they look like at f2.8-8
Most folks who buy these lenses will be doing so with the intent to shoot them wide open or close to wide open most of the time. Therefore it makes no sense for me to spend the majority of my video comparing them at 2.8 and higher.

its needed to mention....Neewer 35mm f1.2
Alex I'm confused between 7artisans 35mm 1.2 or 25mm 1.8 (for close up product shoots and interviews). on a G7
I'd go with the 25mm f1.8. The 35mm f1.2 acts a lot like a vintage lens and for close up product shots its going to be super hard to get critical focus unless you shoot at a super high aperture. And then whats the point of having a 1.2?
@@AlexMinor thanks so so much man, I just bought my first camera g7 :) it's on its way
Alex, hello i have the kamlan lens but i have the lumix G7 it me an adapter put what you like
Is this a question?
Meike sounds a whole lot better pronounced as my-keh, than calling it mako(the shark). As for the lenses I like both, especially the affordability and the fact that they are low light monsters.
Thanks for the help with pronunciation. Do you have either lens?
what camera was this video shot on ?
Panasonisc GH5 but the lenses will fit any m43 mount camera and are also available for Fuji, sony and canon m mount
Soundtrack 💥
👊🏾
Who makes the widest non fisheye that's decent for m43 besides laowa ?
Slr magic. They have a 10mm t2.1. Its more expensive than the laowa tho.
Watch my best wide angle lens video for more details
great comparison, very helpful, I will buy the Meike, whatever you pronounce that thing:)
Good old fashion shoot-out! Yippee Ki-Yay!
Tweren't nothing, pardner.
Thank you.👍🏻 solved it.
Dang I think I'm picking the 7art
I just got the 35mm f0.95 in and will hopefully be able to do a comparison soon.
