  • The amount of money artists get paid for their streams is a very controversial topic. Services like Spotify, Tidal and Apple Music don't seem to pay very much money for streams - but the payment system is quite complicated. In this video I've broken it down into simpler terms.

    Make sense why I didn’t make what I expected from the amount of streams I got in February. Thanks for explaining this

    I basically spent the last hour reading and multiple articles and doing my own calculations to estimate how much money these streaming services are making. You’ve done all that in less than 6 mins. I feel bad for myself. Next time, I will checkout your channel first

    Thanks man, I am 47 and just been studying music marketing for the past year intensively. It seems very difficult to get paid if you are an artist starting out.

    RUclips Music is much better than Spotify and apple especially sound quality eventhough it is a bit expensive but I am happy with it.

    Great video, but I gotta say 4:33 was hilarious to me: thinking of anyone listening to only 50 Cent, Ariana Grande & Taylor Swift for a whole month 😂😂😂

    Is this world wide streaming or only according to the percentage of your country’s streaming?

    in the old days ppl brought the artists music and ppl from top to bottom Got good money ...now a days with half the country broke and struggling its not easy to make money as a artist unless your touring and selling merchandise .. sad part is thats why so many do illegal shit to make ends meet because record companies are very greedy and have artists who lack buiisness sense sign a 360 deal and end up with their master recordings being owned by the labels and shady businesses exploiting these young nonthinkers ...today one does not need a label to make money thank GOD .. they have learned to make connections and money by other means ... be smart and pay attention

    What does stream mean in terms of song duration? If the track is 5 minutes and i listened 1 minute, does it count to be paid?

    • @kingfeekmedia3716
      @kingfeekmedia3716  2 года назад +6

      One stream is defined as 30 seconds listened, so yes 1 minute would count as a paid stream. This is why songs seem to be getting shorter in general. There is less importance on 5 minute songs because only the first 30 seconds really counts.

      @@kingfeekmedia3716 It doesn't seem so though, without pushing the industry to change in our favour. The last time anything was shifted for the artists' benefit was in the 1940s recording strike. Right now, the musician's union is the only entity pushing for change without a stake but for the artists themselves -- since, that's who makes up the union. I'm talking about the US/Canada union (AFM); I'm sure other musician's unions around the globe are pushing for this too.

      they can tour and make money or sell their merchandise or direct to consumer selling .. streaming is only one revenue source.
