    I like Hannover cuz you get this sense of coziness right there, as it is a small town so I guess people there are more friendly and simplistic than the people in Berlin or other big German cities where people are always busy as well as practical but in Hannover the case is so much different where you get this cozy feeling and the locals there are so nice and friendly Germans and they do have a lot of free time to spend in brewries, bars, pops wherever but most importantly that the type of life in Hannover is smother and lighter than the very big German cities. For me, personally speaking, in Germany I prefer small towns and enjoy life more in such snug villages or towms in terms of everything including the people right in such cozy towns

    You need to go to Linden-Nord and the east town of hannover when you ever go there again. Linden is for Hannover what Kreuzberg is in Berlin. And the East town is just beautiful. Nearly untouched by the bombs in WW2 and with most of the houses remaining. Nearby you have the Eilenriede, a city forest, multiple times bigger than the Central Park NY.

    Rathaus is really an impressive building which is worth visiting. And if you want small town feel, I'd recommend Celle.

      Definitely, visit Celle!! I live in Celle :-) especially if you're interested in history. Celle is one of the oldest towns in Germany. It got "town rights" in 1292, and the oldest house still standing was build in 1522. There are some interesting things to learn about the royalties of England and Germany, too. Visit the castle, take a guided tour!

      +FSXMultiplayerforum i think that celle is a ugly and dirty city.. I was there a couple times because a friend lives there but i don't like the City.

    I lived in Hannover for a bit and everything you said is so true. Especially about the service… which isn’t really that bad but just not great either. Great place to live in summer with all the parks and lakes around. A couple of great picturesque beer gardens which are awesome on a summers night… my favourite was the old at the old royal stables next to the Eilenriede.. can’t remember the name.

    My mother was born about 40 km east of Hannover. As to your comment about the weather, I would like to add only this.
    September and October are among the sunniest months there. November and May are rainy, just as they are here in Toronto, Canada. December and early January (the time of your video) tend to have mild temperatures;; however, it is often overcast.
    The summer months are quite sunny. I have experienced very cool and very hot summers with the trend over the past 30 years to hotter summers.

    Being from Hannover i can see your points :D For a tourist Hannover has not thaaaaat much to offer on first sight, but if you do your city tour with a person from Hannover and yes even the nightlife tour there are plenty of things to do i guess. You can start a tour across the city in the morning and party until 11AM. It is just hidden sometimes. I had different friends over from the states or brazil and I guess if they would have taken the tourist tour they would not have been that satisfied ;) I guess that goes for a lot of cities around the world so hannover is a mediocre city but I like it

    Any ideas about where to go to do genealogy research in Hannover? My husband's great-grandfather came to the US from Hannover. We would love to go there and research the family. His last name is Vogt, which I have heard is a very common name in Germany.

    • @woltersworld
      @woltersworld  9 лет назад +3

      Terri Vogt there is a museum in Bremerhaven which is about 1.5 hours. if you know about when they left for the US and the family name they should be able to help you.

    If you want to talk about bad customer service, I have lost count of the amount of times I have gone to various restaurants, where we have placed orders in and either part of an order has been forgotten, or worse still they have entirely forgotten a meal, and this is in the restaurant where I speak the countries language perfectly, but the waitress doesn't speak enough to pass muster.
    Yes I am aware this is not entirely the same problem but still it is enough for very low reviews.

    I totally agree with you! I lived in Hannover for a year. The service was really terrible, people are really cold and unfriendly to foreigners.I really do not want to live there anymore, but unfortunately my German fiance is still living in this small town and he wants me to live in Hannover again. I don't know what should I do now. A funny thing is people who live in Hannover always say ' this city is'. They've never accepted that is just a small town compare with big cities such as Hamburg. Sorry for my sharp tongue, but I really don't like there.
