    Hello,
My name is Paula. I live in Peabody Mass, just 15 miles north of Logan. I also partially grew up in Chelsea, mass. Here it is 2024 and my experience living under a flight path to Logan has gotten worse, and that is in Peabody and not east Boston. The noise and pollution concerns occur when there are southeast or southwest winds blowing on jet arrivals on runway # 22L . WHEN THAT OCCURS ,,,,😢THEN THERE IS A JET PLANE SUPER HIGHWAY GOING DIRECTLY OVER MY HOME . WITH THAT JET PLANE SUPER HIGHWAY , FLIGHTS ARE SPACED APART EVERY 55 SECONDS, HOW CLOSE CAN YOU GET?... MY HOME, I,M THE SOLE OWNER AND OCCUPANT. I,M WELL AWARE THAT MY HOME IS IN A FLIGHT PATH SINCE FAR BACK IN THE 1950S GROWING UP. I,VE COMPLAINED TO MASS PORT AND GOT ONLY LUKE WARM RESPONSE. In a local newspaper called the Peabody citizen, now deducted, DATED JULY 17, 2013 there is a historical page dated this week in 1969. It reads the following;;; DUE TO EXTREMELY STEAMY WEATHER, JETS LANDING AT LOGAN AIRPORT WHERE AT A VERY LOW ALTITUDE FLYING OVER PEABODY. THE CITY COUNCIL COMPLAINED TO THE MASSACHUSETTS PORT AUTHORITY ABOUT THE ISSUE, OFFERING THOUGHTS THAT PLANES SHOULDN,T BE COMPELLED TO FLY SO LOW BECAUSE OF HOT AIR.....THE PORT AUTHORITY RESPONDED TO THE COUNCIL THUSLY: "MOST OF THE HOT AIR IN PEABODY IS COMING FROM THE CITY COUNCIL" ;;;;;;.........Like I said it is getting worse today more so than 1969. They added more runways that will bring more people into the Boston Metropolitan area like I said in one newspaper article I wrote, put up more buildings in the downtown core and you yet more people driving in and out. More airport expansion more people more road congestion. I,m not totally against aviation travel, i just like to see balances and more transportation choices along with better intermodal travel. What has been rone to bring more rail transit into or out of the city like Establishing the north /south rail link tunnel? Nothing of course !!!!! A lot of those domestic flights can be illuminated if we had electrified high speed rail with trains capable of traveling between 150 to 200 mph. That pesky north/south rail link was not mentioned by anybody in the video. The person who I blame the most for thwarting the study of the North/south rail link was that cold blooded venture capitalist and former governor Mitt Romney. A typical car guy from a rich family who loves highways and airports, while that infamous big dig was being constructed, why didn,t they put the rail link through?... our transportation priorities are screwed up because of these Republican elected officials . Traffic going into or out of the Ted Williams Tunnel could take more than 1 hour just to go from end to end. I know because I documented one occurance.
I used to work in the south Boston rail yards and i,ve witnessed over the years traffic getting worse in and out. Also with south station train traffic has gotten worse because south station train tracks are at capacity. Yet MBTA JUST WANTS TO EXPAND SOUTH STATION AND NOT RECOGNIZE THAT TRAIN MOVEMENTS BOTH AMTRAK HIGH SPEED AND MBTA COMMUTER CAN CONTINUE GOING NORTH UNINTERRUPTED. UNFORTUNATELY ITS THE LIKES OF SOUTHWEST AIRLINES WHO VEHEMENTLY OPPOSE SUCH HIGH SPEED ELECTRIFIED RAIL PROJECTS. READ THE BOOK BY JOESEPH VRANICH . "SUPER TRAINS SOLUTIONS TO AMERICA'S TRANSPORTATION GRIDLOCK" It all boils down to "POLITICAL ECONOMICS VS HONEST ECONOMICS " That is why the ilk of Donald Trump say drill baby drill. They are appeasing the fossil fuel suppliers and related poluting industries.
I would appreciate a response back , also pass along to Fred Salvucci and other of Transportation interests. I have a library of information supporting electrified rail systems as a whole. I,ve been still working as an electrician since 1972
PS .....JUST LOOK AT EUROPE AND ASIA HOW SHORT DOMESTIC FLIGHTS HAVE BEEN ELLIMNATED VIA ELECTRIFIED RAIL
MISS PAULA WALACH-FORMER INDUSTRIAL ELECTRICIAN-UNION MEMBER IBEW. Employed by MBTA, s /Keolis commuter services.

The airport impacts need to be dealt with because the noise and air pollution must be mitigated.

There has to be a better balance between business and people's health and well-being.
