I have been silk pressing my hair like this for the past year. The more you do it, the easier it gets. The key to a good roller set is make sure the hair is saturated with water.
When silk press are done correctly, you dont loose hair and you keep your curl pattern. My hairstylist has done an amazing job I try to get silk press every 3 weeks, would love weekly because it keeps it stretched but maybe I will do this diy on the other two weeks to save money 😜. My hair has grown with her so I love silk presses.
Beautiful results. With your hair being very textured and thick, try hourglass rollers. They grip the hair better and keep the hair taut as it dries, giving you smoother results.
Just a heads up there are dryer attachments that are like $10 that add a hose to ur handheld drier that u can put on your head like a hat to dry your hair. It’s not quite as powerful as a hooded drier but it works! Just keep the back of the handheld drier open so hair can flow.
I got a hood dryer after last relaxer at salon when they did and recommended roller sets. If I don’t roller set I sit under dryer medium around 20-25 min. After applying products combing etc then I use ceramic straightening iron. Hair is thicker. I think I’ll be able to stretch relaxers now vs blow drying. Your hair looks sooooo beautiful with just the roller set too!
You are welcome !! My hairstylist reminded me of the value of roller sets and especially after a relaxer touch up. I’m definitely incorporating the hood dryer as a regular and major part of my hair styling routine for healthy hair.
@taylortells you got me wanting to try a roller set. Can you share what temp you flat ironed on? And what shampoo ans conditioner you used? Sometimes, that can also make a difference.
I would love to straighten my hair more often but I’m definitely concerned about the heat. This video is about avoiding heat damage but wouldn’t you say your curl pattern has changed significantly in comparison to videos you posted a year ago? You have a video titled something like “ weekly silk presses on healthy hair- avoid heat damage” .. where your curls look significantly tighter

Thank you! I’m still struggling lol

Loveeee these! Yes! And then she will only have to press the roots. I use them and love them! Curls are intact!
Yay it’s my favorite girly!!!! Love your content Taylor, God bless🌸💖🤗
I wish I had a hooded dryer too. I would use it for deep conditioners , hot oils and roller sets

The more heat you use it loosens your curl pattern for sure
pretty hair, you are retaining a lot of length
Yes, thank you
yw, I'm gonna try this method soon! @@taylortells
It’s pretty but it just doesn’t give the silk press results I like. It looks like a silk press after some days but I get the purpose . Still cute
I guess it depends on which you one like. Some silk press involves more volume and others they want it sleek straight (i.e bone straight).
