Future generations of hyenas don't deserve to suffer for that and shouldn't in any capacity for something they didn't do. Personally, I think something happened in the past that made lions and hyenas hate each other and eventually got hyenas to suffer from it. Now I don't know what it could have been, maybe an argument or rumor about the hyenas got way out of control or something but I guess we'll never know. Edit: Also, if the hyenas suffer from mental illnesses or simply from emotional trauma due to their horrible lives. Who's to say that they're laughter isn't a coping mechanism or an unfortunate habit/symptom they gained due to their mental illness.
Well If we look from a nature standpoint, hyenas are both extremely violent and scavengers. Who's to say mufasa even knew that the hyenas were suffering. Natural scavengers usually eat only the remains or already dead animals, so Mufasa likely believed they had food out in the wastelands. Hell, there's an elephant graveyard where they live. Maybe Mufasa was just blind to their conditions and thought that they were fine.

Well i wasn't prepared For Darby's insane vocal range also out of curiosity i just played Darby's version with the original. i got chills. they harmonize well despite the difference in voice.
I feel like the “you won’t get a sniff without me” part of the song is the hardest to pull off! So many singers just can’t match that same magic jeremy irons had(granted he blew his voice out) but YOU KILLED IT!!! much credit man that was awesome

You know, I've seen quite a few be prepared covers, including some relatively big names like peter hollens and jonathan young, but still I think this is my favourite. No cuts, no needless additions, just taking the original and enhancing it. And doing a kickass job at that. Love it.

The whole thing is awesome, hands down, but like... the melody of the voices of the hyenas when they sing "We'll have food, endless food; we repeat, endless meat!" is like one of my favorite backup singer parts. Them keeping the dynamics of the hyenas in the song is amazing??! Also, hearing Ed's laughter going back and forth through headphones is the best subtle thing ever. Not to forget Scar's tones? Like SO EXPRESSIVE! Love it so much and I lost track of how many times I listened to this now...

I love your harmonies and your take on the "No King" chant. You all are just as powerful. I just listened to this side by side with the one from the movie, and I genuinely prefer Darby's voice over the original scar. He puts so much more feeling in the way he sings, and it's just amazing. You know, I've seen quite a few be prepared covers, including some relatively big names like peter hollens and jonathan young, but still I think this is my favourite. No cuts, no needless additions, just taking the original and enhancing it. And doing a kickass job at that. Love it.

The whole thing is awesome, hands down, but like... the melody of the voices of the hyenas when they sing "We'll have food, endless food; we repeat, endless meat!" is like one of my favorite backup singer parts. Them keeping the dynamics of the hyenas in the song is amazing??! Also, hearing Ed's laughter going back and forth through headphones is the best subtle thing ever.
Not to forget Scar's tones? Like SO EXPRESSIVE! Love it so much and I lost track of how many times I listened to this now...

This is great. Tom, Cami, and Alex (and steel) make good hyenas, and Darby as Scar (Scarby?) is awesome. Plus the art is not only great, but scary, with the spikes and teeth and jackets.

Alright here come the bullet points of what I love.
-Darby.... I've got no words for how awesome you here. That opening is so chilling. And your voice just throughout the song is pretty terrifying and really powerful. I literally started shaking from it.
-Alex, Cami, Tom... you guys are awesome. I love your harmonies and your take on the "No King" chant. You all are just as powerful. And Steel with those background vocals and those laughs in the end with how low and sinister they are...yikes!
-The art...just the Art! Steel how the heck do you do it?! Everything looks so sharp and it helps bring out the chilling nature of this cover. I love everybody's designs and the glow in the eyes.
-The mix is so great. The video production is wonderful. It feels really on par with the original. Maybe even better.
Just in general everyone here did amazing work and I am in love. I don't think I can find another cover I'd love as much as this one. Take a bow everybody. You've definitely earned it.

I just listened to this side by side with the one from the movie, and I genuinely prefer Darby's voice over the original scar. He puts so much more feeling in the way he sings, and it's just amazing.
