Kind of wasn’t expecting all that garbage in the street in Amsterdam tbh. Thought European cities were cleaner than American ones.

I totally feel you on the guilt of not working 24/7 when there's a deadline, im still working on having a healthy work-life balance but watching you balance it all has actually helped me a lot!! Congrats on finishing your thesis
When I study I'm in underwear, I haven't showered for a while, my room is full of dirty clothes, the bed is undone, I have drank like 8 cups of coffee, I stop every 10 minutes, etc. Seeing you there study in such a civilized, organized and even elegant way made me feel like an absolute savage animal hahahah
I think it is natural to think what you've sent in isn't perfect. Every essay I handed in I thought was awful. Weirdly I often found that the ones I thought were better turned out not to be. The ones I thought were terrible got better marks. But congratulations on hitting the deadline. I know a lot of people with PhDs and I don't know one of them that didn't find the thesis write up hard.
Not me watching Leonie finishing her thesis while I'm procrastinating my own 🙃😭 I'm so glad that you're done! I remember the euphoria I felt when I handed in my honours thesis last year - now I'm speedrunning through my master's thesis 😅🥲 I will get there at the end!
There is this quote that I read that said something like: don't do so much today that you don't have energy left to do the things you need to do tomorrow. This completely changed how I looked at the things I had to do. I know if I work to hard today, I won't be able to do anything tomorrow. So now I plan some down time to rest and get energy and preseve my mental health
It feels so good to see that the gremlin student mode is mostly the same around the world :')

Random thought: I'm so impressed that you manage to keep a good back posture while working all day long. I may start okay in the morning but actually melt down during the hours past.

This was kind of a weirdly nostalgic video to watch. I was thinking of my dog sitting patiently by my desk as I was finishing up my PhD. She actually got kind of fat during that time while I got skinnier! I think what kept happening was that I'd get immersed for hours at a time and forget to eat (not main meals, but I was definitely snacking less). But I was paranoid about forgetting to feed HER so I probably gave her two dinners on a weekly basis. Being a dog, she'd give me a funny look but then just eat it anyway!

"One meeting with your supervisor can completely change everything" SO. TRUE. I've completed the research set up (context, project management, research question etc) so im now about to begin the actual data analysis and... Im scared im going to spend this time going down the wrong rabbit hole. Fortunately my supervisor is so good at helping guide me with the changes so I've planned enough meetings with her to be able to allow time to change my thesis if I need to lmao. I'm finishing mine in October, so still a while away, but wishing you well from the same thesis boat!
You are super woman. Taking us along during this high stress time. Then finding the time to edit the video. Towards the end of the video, I thought, "the fun videos can come at a later time. I want to know how the remaining 2 weeks went for you." I'm so happy that even at your lowest motivational times, you were able to pick yourself up and continue. And yay to friends, even their presence while they're working on something is inspiration to continue your own work. I hope all is well with you.
I finished two online executive programs during lockdown. One of them was with Harvard Business School. It was 6 weeks online and the end of the program required a write up. Not exactly a thesis but more of case studies and that was when I had some kind of writer's block. So I get it. All I can say is be in the zone mentally before writing your final thesis. Getting into it when not in the zone may not produce the optimum outcome. Being in the zone is all about being chill emotionally. Good luck, you can do it

Vlogs like this are really nice to watch. Somehow its comforting to see someone else struggle with thesis work and internships and generally being a student lol. It's just that I go through the exact same thing and seeing how you stress like I do but everything is okay and finished in the end of the video I feel like I'll be fine too.
I have never been into studying but I find this refreshing. I hope to read a book that you wrote someday if those moments will come.
I love the way you show how you manage the pressure and stress of studying and meeting deadlines, really relatable and finding time to do other things other than study is really inspiring, if that’s me i would just be a gremlin until i finish everything which is not healthy at all. Live ur videos 💕

I love what you said about feeling guilty for going out, but being best than procrastinating because you know your brain needs that time to relax and that way you can truly disconnect. I wrote my master's thesis in 2018 and I still think of what I could change at least once a week. But it's done and gone so that's the best it can be! Congratulations!

It’s so calming to watch someone going through study stuff and it being “unpolished” makes me relate tremendously!!! Thank you for these 30 minutes of relax as long as my brain don’t function towards exam preparing currently anyway (which is tomorrow, i cannot wait for this semester to come to an end)

This video was simultaneously very relatable but also stress inducing. I feel you so hard on the guilt of doing anything that isn't work! i handed my thesis back in may and i was literally suffering. i wrote my research (25-35 pages) in only two weeks before the deadline :)
oh god, this video came just right in time because i have to study for my final exams (29th of june and 6th of july) so it gave me so much motivation!

Congratulations on your thesis! I had to hand mine in at the beginning of this month and I can empathise so much with your video. Unlike you though, I am a lot more of a procrastinator (for now, planning on being better) so the last two weeks of my deadline I was running on stress induced motivation. I am sure you work is better than you think, and in either case if you see areas of improvement in your work is a big indicator that the final work will be of higher quality. This was so fun to watch! I‘m also finishing my master‘s degree in psychology but in social and business psychology. I finished my thesis and it’s discussion the past month and this was exactly how I felt and gladly i got excellent degree and the whole journey was worth it

i literally just handed in my essay thingy for final exams yesterday... so good to see others also being motivated solely by stress. i couldn't get any work done the week before and ended up writing almost 1/3 of the whole thing 3am. bit late but congrats on finishing on time!!!

Oh gosh the constant guilt for not working and not being good enough, this brought back some baaaad memories. Honestly the first day I started working after I graduated, I came home in the evening and almost cried, I was so relieved that I didn't have any work to be done at home, that I could completely separate work and life from each other. I wish you all the best and a lot of rest

Everyone always told me "Enjoy college you'll miss it when you graduate." Ha... nope! I don't miss it at all. It was too stressful and frankly my degree is worthless but I'm sure you'll have plenty of opportunities! Good luck with everything.

It's a great skill to learn how to put work aside, even under a deadline, to do other things, especially if they are an investment in your future productivity. You're not a robot! Plus it's a useful life skill. I have three big projects on at work but my usual day to day work doesn't stop (I'm a psychologist) just because those projects are approaching deadline. I can't not see clients because I want to work on my notes for a class I'm teaching, for instance. I have to be able to put important work down to get other things done.

I work from home and let me tell you time blocking on google calendar saves my sanity. Also you really start to realise how much you tend to underestimate the length of time that takes you to do certain tasks. Which is why it's doubly helpful, because knowing that allows you to (hopefully) adjust those estimates in the future. Really recommend it.

also in the research field, and also a grad student (not yet in the thesis stage though), and let me tell you the heat is CRIPPLING my mental capacity. I was so jealous of the 30C temperature you had because our average is like 34C =)) I feel like a dirty crusty prune with a fan constantly blowing polluted air into my face (: most airconditioned libraries (yes not all libraries are airconditioned in my country) are still closed in my university so I have to work in cafes if I want to avoid the heat, but I'm a poor lil researcher.
I literally have no big school deadlines coming up but this video is triggering some deep-seated PTSD 😂

this is literally who I aspire to be. you have a youtube channel where you upload regularly, the editing and effort you put into them is amazing, your channel is based around READING, you read and review, in-depth, a crap ton of books (books that are not in your native language)... all the while you're getting a degree in neuroscience, you're doing your thesis and you have an internship at Harvard?!! actually insane 😭

Have you read Almond by WonPyung Sohn? It actually talks about a boy that was born with a problem on the amygdala and the kind of relationships that he was with others since he "does not have feelings". I thought it would be a funny book for you to read since you are actually doing research on that exact topic!
