As a wife of someone in the army it was interesting and lovely to hear someone else’s point of view regarding leaving a family and kids behind for long period of times. Makes you realise you’re not the only one going through it. Xx
my dad always told me to notice reference points too! and to always turn around when you're going somewhere you don't know so you recognise the view getting back
Ant is such a great man. I'm only a year younger than him, so as great as it is what he's doing for young people, he's also helping someone like myself understand what leadership is in my role as a father, husband and friend. Big fan, First Man In is a great book!
I feel you man, I was kicked to the curb at four years old, many kids I grew up with didn't make it, I'm 37 now with a family of my own so I'm definitely one of the lucky ones, but life could have been a little better with a Father figure and a little guidance, I had to figure out this cluster-f*ck that they call life on my own, still here though, 👌 🤝
Loved this. So different, but interesting, hearing parenting from a dad's point of view. You ought to do more male podcasts Gi. Jeff Brazier would be good. Hearing his opinions about being a single dad
What a fantastic and interesting interview! Listened to it as i was waiting at hospital for my son to come in with my partner...this was so interesting it helped me not to worry too much whilst I waited!! Thank you.
Ant is quite a rugged looking geezer until he opens his mouth lol, he should keep this level of articulacy on the show, he seems to love F bombing every other word lol
Ahhh I loved everything he was saying until he started saying that men need to protect women and not show their emotions. I wondered what that was like for you to hear him say that particularly as you have 2 boys. You did well to respect his views. It was a really interesting podcast and I suppose shows the intricacies of someone’s character. You’re a natural at interviewing. Congrats on the new bubba x
Yeah, me too! Although he was very conscious of the controversy about what he was saying, and tried to be rather careful with what he said. But gender stereotypes are strong in this one, I wonder what his feelings would be, if one of his kids struggles with the stereotypes and actively tries to break out of them. I'd like to think he's caring and loving enough to guide them through that, too. I did enjoy this podcast a lot and I very much appreciate your interviewing skills, Giovanna. Thank you for this!
So men don't protect women? Are we going to ignore hundreds of thousands of years of human evolution to satisfy your social justice warior nonsense. If a male breaks into a house with a guy and his wife in that house who is going to be the protector? The woman? Get a fucking grip and let's look at reality. The man is going to be the protector, that's a fact.
Greg W better put than I would have said 😅 snowflakes are the problem, not men, and not women. Just fucking pussies looking a problem with what people say.
Men protect women??? Who's betting the one with the gun is a man!!! In my house, I'm the one who can think straight and make decisions under pressure, I'm also the one who instinct is to fight but I can control that instinct and use it to my advantage. My husband would attempt to protect me (he's quite traditional like that) and in some circumstances I may even let him, there are occasions when looking big and tough helps (which he does), but there are also occasions when the little woman takes the lead and that scares the cr*p out of people, or people underestimate the little woman (I am little, literally, even for a woman!) and I use that to my advantage. And yes I have been in situations where that has been put to the test on more than one occasion, and I always came out on top! I always say that in a zombie Apocalypse my husband and I together have a very good chance of survival. I can adapt quickly to emerging situations and make difficult choices when I have too, even if I don't have all the information I would like, my husband can't do that. He is extremely tactical in his thinking when he has time to plan, he can plan the long game anticipating peoples moves far in advance and conciser multiple possibilities (which is what makes decisions under pressure difficult), I can't do that. Together we would be awesome, he can plan, be tactical, provide me with the information, I can then implement the plan and make the decision on the ground when things don't go quite to plan, based on much better information and insight than I would have alone. As a team we are stronger than as two individuals because our strengths and weaknesses are different and on occasions complement each other. This is true in many more mundane areas of our life too. Reality is about respecting each others strengths and weaknesses regardless of gender. Men generally but not invariably are more likely to have certain strengths due to both nature and nurture and likewise for women, but to try and force them to live up to those stereotypes stifles both men and women.
Mean while after what ant said about men and women, You got people bringing up there babies gender fluid. If only people could be more switched on like my man here.
I'm sure Ant loves his kids. The thing is he's almost never at home because of work, training and travelling. So his wife has a heavy burdon... Easy to pick the cherries from the cake Ant... Anyway you know I love you bud - when are you gonna call me for the next S.A.S Who Dares Wins...
Yikes when he started talking about how he doesn’t want his little boy to cry but it’s okay for his little girl to cry and how women and men have different roles in society 😬 god forbid his son ever gets depression
Wow a lot of women hating men commenting and liking comments on this post. Nothing I said was attacking men. If you don't think it's okay for boys to cry don't have kids xo
@TheGodEmperorofMankind TheGodEmperorofMankind why are you replying to something from 2 years ago, sure we're in isolation and everything but are you that bored you needed to pick an argument with a random person on the internet? Especially with a comment from 2 years ago?? If you want to teach your child to not show emotions and be a robot and end up depressed and commuting suicide (suicide is the biggest killer in men under 49) go ahead, but teaching your male child they shouldn't cry and your female child they should cry is absurd. This is prime example of toxic masculinity and why there is such a difference in numbers of suicides in men rather than women, although I'm sure you'll find a way to blame women for men's suicides.
I SEE THIS IS STILL UP. LOOK. I WILL SETTLE FOR PINKY'S HEAD . FOR NOW. IT DOES NOT MEAN THIS WOMAN IS FORGIVEN. I WILL SETTLE FOR PINKY'S HEAD FOR THE DIVORCE OR FOR THERE NOT TO BE A DIVORCE. WHATEVER YOU WANT OUT OF THOSE TWO OPTIONS IN OUR MARRIAGE.
Thankyou Mr Anthony Middleton of her majesty's government special boat squadrons thankyou for telling me about anything and everything and everyone and everything and anything to do with life the role of a man and woman with children and everything and anything and everything tell general Mr sir Peter del a billiere oh il tell him myself now yo dlb Stevie Wonder I've got your Christmas presents for you and your wife Bridget but I cannot afford to pay postage at the moment as their going to Herefordshire hr4 7 DD Stirling line's got it delta zero Bravo thankyou i
Love watching programmes he does but I totally shut down after hearing him talk about the whole girl / boy crying scenario, etc. Have heard him before talk about reasons why women aren't in SAS and I became wary of him then but this has made me even more so. "All they need is love and to make sure that they're happy" - yet being taught not to cry because of their gender? Yawn
ARE YOU OK.? WOMAN DOING THE PODCAST IS VERY DISTRESSED. I CAN HEAR IT IN HER VOICE. I CAN ONLY ASSUME MY HUSBAND WAS THERE TO ASSIST HER MEDICALLY. WHY ELSE WOULD MY HUSBAND BE WITH HER. OR IS SHE A PRESENT HENRY?
FIVE KIDS WOW. DIVORCE NOW? OR....PRESENT.? OR DIVORCE. ITS TEH SAME TO ME BUT MAKE UP YOUR MIND "ANTS". MPI PENTAGON, THE. ; CROWN.; VOJNA POLICIJA BG.; I ACTUALLY WANT THE DIVORCE. THE MORE I LISTEN TO YOU ANTS THE MORE I WANT ONE. MPI
HOWEVER. THE FIVE KIDS THING IS SO ANNOYING TO ME. ITS SO INFURIATING THAT I DONT KNOW HOW TO COPE EVERY TIME I HEAR YOU SAY IT., DOES IT UNDERSTAND. NO.
As a wife of someone in the army it was interesting and lovely to hear someone else’s point of view regarding leaving a family and kids behind for long period of times. Makes you realise you’re not the only one going through it. Xx
The Life Of Coal British military doesn’t wage war on women and kids - Quote from an SAS soldier
The Life Of Coal your stupidity knows no bounds.
my dad always told me to notice reference points too! and to always turn around when you're going somewhere you don't know so you recognise the view getting back
Such a good tip and one I'll be using! Xx
Ant comes across much more humble and chilled in this, good interview.
Ant is such a great man. I'm only a year younger than him, so as great as it is what he's doing for young people, he's also helping someone like myself understand what leadership is in my role as a father, husband and friend. Big fan, First Man In is a great book!
He's s real mans man so he is. I bet God is proud of this one. I would be. He's a good man.
How Sweet
Man I wish I had a father like him growing up not someone that's gonna abandon me
I feel you man, I was kicked to the curb at four years old, many kids I grew up with didn't make it, I'm 37 now with a family of my own so I'm definitely one of the lucky ones, but life could have been a little better with a Father figure and a little guidance, I had to figure out this cluster-f*ck that they call life on my own, still here though, 👌 🤝

Loved this. So different, but interesting, hearing parenting from a dad's point of view. You ought to do more male podcasts Gi. Jeff Brazier would be good. Hearing his opinions about being a single dad

He is a quite different person, isn't he.
Very relaxed.
Well, inside he is very soft. ( I've seen him cry.) He has a heart. And a warm one.
Ant is quite a rugged looking geezer until he opens his mouth lol, he should keep this level of articulacy on the show, he seems to love F bombing every other word lol
I was hooked! Fab podcast x
If you close your eyes, he kind of sounds like David Beckham
Natasha Eustace absolutely! My thoughts exactly. He’s got a bigger vocabulary than Beckham though who is full of ‘ummmms’ and ‘ermmms!’
