I think you guys have the best Tokyo videos on youtube. Somehow you always choose amazing spots. Also that is cool that you're learning more Japanese and using it.
Veteran Japan traveler here of 25+ years. I'm glad you went to places tourists don't typically go to. Almost every tourist goes to the same places. I just got back from Japan yesterday myself. Next trip already set for October.
Amazing! Japan has always been on our bucket list, but for whatever reason we’ve put it off, everyone says how expensive it is but once you’re there, we find it to be more affordable than a lot of places we visited. You’re so lucky to have a trip booked already we should probably work on getting the same done. Cheers!

It was a great video :) Loved it and I'm glad you both are having fun to stay in Japan!

The red stuff at 8:28 is not radish, it is beni shōga, ginger marinated in umezu, which is umeboshi plum brine. The red color comes from red shiso leaves. It is sharp and tangy and absolutely one of my favorite things to have with a wide variety of foods in Japan.
You literally just blew our mind! The flavor profile makes so much more sense to us. We just thought that they were pickled radishes or something. We had a umeboshi plum for the first time and it was so sour it knocked Alyssa out of her chair😂, really good with rice. Thanks 1 million for the clarification!

Unfortunately, we will not be able to on this trip! We’ve had a ton of military friends who have been stationed in Okinawa before and we are dying to visit and try some of the places they recommended. We will let you know on our next trip to Japan because we will definitely make it out there. ❤️

lol that’s a great question. We love hanging out and eating delicious foods and exploring new places. We are definitely this nice to others but not to each other sometimes. We’ve been together a long time so our fights are very short and we are able to get past things and continue having fun. @@HeresGoodTravel Your genuinity defiinitly shines through in your videos and i can only imagine that staying upset with each other is almost impossible while experiance this beautiful world of ours. All the best and safe travels
We LOVED IT!!! It’s a hidden gem! Sunshine city is right there, Seibu mall is a place we could spend hours. All types of Japanese restaurants and bars and a Don Quixote! What more could you want? It also is a 15-20 minute ride on the Yamamoto line to anywhere you could want to go. And to top it off it’s more affordable than other neighborhoods. We would recommend it to everyone. Have fun!
@@HeresGoodTravelthanks for the reply! Been to Tokyo many times but explored Ikebukuro soooooo poorly so was rly happy that you mentioned it☺️ SO EXCITED XD
The containers of onions were our personal order. So we paid for one portion to share. We promise to be careful as to cont contaminate communal toppings.
TOTALLY! We have kinda made that a focal point of our videos in the Japan series because nobody really talks about it. That’s not the reason we love Japan but it’s what held us back from visiting sooner. It can be pricy to get there but you can get a better deal on a hotel than you can anywhere in the states and food is affordable. But it’s a magical place that we hope many people get the opportunity to visit!
You can eat and drink while walking. 🙄 Do you live in Japan or travelling here? Dont take your rubbish home, find a 7/11 or Family mart and put your rubbish there its ok. The only rule is smoking. There places actually for smoking and you cant walk and smoke.
No we just had an opportunity to spend a couple months there. We learned that you can take things to the konbinis later in our trip. The smoking boxes and areas around the cities are packed! I heard that that’s relatively a new initiative. Thanks for the tips and comment!
@@MiaH56 it doesn't matter what you think it's not a rule. If you ask politely and the store will allow you why not do it. What if your house is hours away. Are you supposed to carry your rubbish on buses and trains making the places smell and making it uncomfortable for others.
@@vashthastampede1974 it’s on the news and we have arguments throwing away garbage at random combini here. Because many of the convenience stores are franchises and the owners have to deal with on their own. Why do they have to pay the cost to deal with random tourists garbage? But as you said if you asked and they said it’s okay I see no problem.
@@MiaH56I know like I said I gave you an example. I don't even know why you replied again. Have you seen how packed the trains and buses get imagine if everyone was carrying rubbish on the train. You would be ok with that? Like I said ask politely if the convenience store says yes, leave it there. You can also find places to leave your trash at train stations or according to you I am supposed to just take it home 🙄
We believe that it’s in case you drop food and make a mess and that the Japanese tend to sit and enjoy their food and drinks. We just go with the flow but are usually walking eaters
Trust me you can. You just can do it indoors like in shopping malls and shops. Outside is fine. The 100% rule is smoking. There are places made for smoking.
@@vashthastampede1974You CAN but we were, at least I was thought not to eat outside/ while walking by my parents. We think it’s embarrassing thing to do as if we are not fed well at home… oh well😮
@@MiaH56What you are told doesn't always mean it's correct. If you are not inconveniencing others or it's not a rule why not do it. For example I am really thirsty but in a rush to get to my destination. Am I supposed to stand there and drink my water and be late. 🤷🏽♂️
Ohhh, so it’s built in. That makes sense. We noticed that some taxation was different for foreigners vs locals. We think it’s an amazing idea to tax the visitors to help the local economy when visiting. We live in a touristy city in the states and would be open to something similar.
When I shop at convenience stores and products in Japan, by law, plastic bags used to be free in the past to reduce garbage, but they charge a fee when I shop. I tell them that I don't need plastic bags or that I don't need plastic bags, and they always ask if I need them at the checkout counter.
Thank you for the tip! We realize that they asked for bags typically we wouldn’t need them, but we didn’t realize that there was a small charge for them. That makes sense. We do something similar in our home in San Diego. Happy to help reduce waste
In Japan, all purchases are subject to consumption tax, food items are subject to 8% and all other items are subject to 10% consumption tax. There are internal and external taxes. Also, if you eat at a convenience store, you will have to pay 8% consumption tax and 10% plastic bag fee if you take it out of the store. With a record yen depreciation of 155 yen to the dollar, foreigners will be able to shop cheaply, probably because Japan's national power is declining. For 30 years after the collapse of the bubble economy, Japan has suffered from a deflationary economy, a recession due to low prices, and low wages that have not risen for 30 years. It is said that Japan's lost 30 years. The average annual income of 4.5 million yen, which is half of the annual income of overseas people, is low in Japan. The national power of Japan is still shrinking. The current bad economy in Japan, Japan relying on imports, and the neglected yen depreciation are abnormal conditions. They want to raise their income without raising it, and they want to raise it because of the rise in raw materials, but they cannot sell, so they hesitate to raise their prices, and they are all in trouble because of the current yen depreciation.
Well, what a lesson. Thank you so much for leaving us this comment. It’s great to understand certain economical issues that are happening within Japan. I know we don’t have a lot of money, but we like to spend our money on local shops and hopefully stimulates some of the economy and share our adventures on RUclips, so the other people may visit and hopefully people can benefit from this.
The yen's unstoppable decline, Japan's national power is falling steadily, if the situation continues, Japan will be hammered by foreign buyers, the yen's extraordinary decline, Japan is cheap from overseas, if the yen's decline continues, it will collapse, and Japan's wages will continue to fall due to deflation and depression for 30 years after the end of the bubble economy. Wages overseas continue to rise, low wages in Japan continue to fall due to the 30 year deflationary recession, problems in Japan where technical skills are available but cannot be earned, which is strange from overseas.
Oh no! This is a difficult situation indeed. You seem to know quite a bit about it, we appreciate the education. We wish the best for the economics of Japan and its people. An incredible place that we’ve been lucky enough to visit.
Thank you for choosing Japan
Thank you for coming to Japan

Thanks so much! We actually wondered this because the words were so similar! We had some amazing varieties of both in our visit! Thanks for clarifying, see you next week!

Thanks for another great video!! Love that you share the cost and all the great cheap Izakaya experiences that Japan has to offer!
Thank you so much for watching! You know we can’t say no to a cheap drink!

Thanks so much! We love sharing our delicious adventures! Thanks for watching and commenting.
I love your videos you are living my dream it makes me tear up to watch people enjoy this much japan
Omg that’s so nice! Thanks so much! Your comment made our freaking day! We love exploring new places together and having different opinions about the food! We will see you next week with more of Hokkaido! Cheers!

Thanks a million!😍
Thank you for letting know your followers how to hold backpacks on Japanese trains and ordinary Japanese people do not eat while walking.
Thanks so much! We like the simplicity and respect of Japan. People are respectful of others and it’s something we lack in the states. We know we don’t do everything correct but we try our best to be kind to the local people. Thanks for the awesome comment!
Hey are you guys planning on coming to Okinawa? You got a SD friend here.
Unfortunately, we will not be able to on this trip! We’ve had a ton of military friends who have been stationed in Okinawa before and we are dying to visit and try some of the places they recommended. We will let you know on our next trip to Japan because we will definitely make it out there. ❤️
😊😊
Thanks! Japan is incredible! We are so lucky to get to explore here, one of our favorite places to visit!
Nice videos 😂
Thank you so much! It means the world to us that you enjoy them!
love your videos. But i have a serious question. Are you guys actually this nice to others and most importantly to each other? Or is there a lot of editing going on. lol
lol that’s a great question. We love hanging out and eating delicious foods and exploring new places. We are definitely this nice to others but not to each other sometimes. We’ve been together a long time so our fights are very short and we are able to get past things and continue having fun. As travelers we never want to inconvenience anyone so we try to be as nice as possible.
@@HeresGoodTravel Your genuinity defiinitly shines through in your videos and i can only imagine that staying upset with each other is almost impossible while experiance this beautiful world of ours. All the best and safe travels

I'm glad it wasn't Ritalin! !
😂
Were you happy with the area? :) i am staying in Ikebukuro too this year :)
Lucky you’ve gotten to explore Tokyo a few times! Since you’ve hit the other spots you’re for sure going to Love it!
Welcome to JAPAN

Those noods!!!
Dude! Dude noods! They were fire! The pickled mustard greens were SPICY!
Not everyone wears backpacks in front of them by the way it’s misleading
It’s a common courtesy for other passengers that locals will appreciate
Let us be friends
We love new friends!

People don’t know this fact that Japan is actually so cheap.
Didn’t you surprised when you traveled in Japan everything was so cheap?
I am Japanese… please do not put your random garbage at convenience stores. You are only supposed to throw away stuff you bought at the store.

アドバイスをありがとうございました。日本旅行の際には心に留めておきます。
What a dumb rule not being able to eat and walk at the same time.
💯👍
@@vashthastampede1974You CAN but we were, at least I was thought not to eat outside/ while walking by my parents. We think it’s embarrassing thing to do as if we are not fed well at home… oh well😮
@@MiaH56What you are told doesn't always mean it's correct. If you are not inconveniencing others or it's not a rule why not do it. For example I am really thirsty but in a rush to get to my destination. Am I supposed to stand there and drink my water and be late. 🤷🏽♂️
There is a consumption tax in Japan. Food items are taxed at 8% and others are taxed at 10%. It is written on the TAX receipt.
