Difference between Omoide Yokocho and Golden Gai:
Omoide Yokocho started as a black market alley after the WWII. Golden Gai used to be a red-light distrit known as the drop-in area for "cultural figures" such as writers, painters, actors etc, during 50's and 60's.

Yasaka neighborhood is used sometimes as a movie site when the director wants to show " real Tokyo " instead of Shibuya (which is kind of artificial ... ) ... 12:18 "Suicide Forest" is an insulting name given by racist Westerners. The "Sea of Trees on Mt. Fuji" is a Shinto sanctuary. There is a goddess there who presides over beauty and fleeting prosperity, and she gave the first emperor a deadline for life. Some choose to die in her blessing.

I agree, I think it is important to immerse yourself fully into the culture and in the moment. Best of luck on your travels! I was so close to visiting and working in Japan at one point myself. I had experience with Motion Capture and in late 2015 I was in contact with Capcom about the facial likeness role of Leon for the Resident Evil 2 Remake. I failed to mention I also have a voice acting background, in the end I lost the part and I can't forgive myself for wasting such an opportunity.
